CFP….a little better than BCS?

A couple thoughts:

Anyone one else think media darling Clemson was exposed? Great team but jeez, if I heard one more time how great their DL was! I get it Sweeney is special but I though PSU was the real deal too; Oklahoma with a defense.

Four other good candidates could have been PSU, Auburn for sure, Wisconsin and ????, maybe Miami, NDame, Wash or USC? I like 8 in the playoffs

Don’t forget another great game this weekend is FCS Final James Madison vs North Dakota St.

Missed kicker/punter

lucas, please take a look and consider adding Allentown Central Catholic's Rustin Seyle to your 2019 Jr Kicker and Punter lists. His stats are up on MaxPreps, was 1st team kicker and punter all conf in EPC District 11, All Area 2nd team Punter Morning Call. He had much better #s than many listed on either list. Getting some college looks and interest. If you need info, let me know.

Adams going into the draft

Was anyone surprised that Josh Adams was leaving this year to take a shot with the Draft?

    Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
    Projected Round (2018): 3-5.
    12/30/17: Adams has run really well this year, with the Fighting Irish fielding one of the best ground attacks in the nation. Behind a tremendous offensive line, Adams has been a tough runner, using his size to be a downhill power back while still possessing enough quickness to break off long runs. Adams is averaging 7.3 yards per carry for 1,386 yards with nine touchdowns. He has 10 receptions for 82 yards as well. Adams ran for 933 yards as a sophomore after putting up 835 yards as a freshman.

Q&A with Coatesville quarterback Ricky Ortega

How did the football season go for your team?
"Our goal for our football team was to win the Ches-Monts and we accomplished that. Our second goal was to win districts and we accomplished that also. Our third goal was to win state and we came up one game short of that. Overall, we had a great football season finishing 13-2."


What are your workout plans now going forward?
"My workout plans are to get me faster and stronger for next season. I also want to get me more flexible."


What are you trying to improve on the most this off-season?
"I am going to work the hardest on my quick release on getting the ball out faster because you can always improve on that aspect. I also want to work on the timing and getting to know my new wide receivers"


How do you believe your team will be next season?
"I believe my team this upcoming season will be bigger, faster and stronger."


Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
"Yes, I want to play football in college."


What colleges have been recruiting you?
"I currently have an offer from Morgan State. The other colleges that are recruiting me are UCONN, Wake Forest, Rutgers, Syracuse, Penn State, Old Dominion, Liberty, Colgate, West Virginia, and Temple."


What school is recruiting you the hardest?
"The school that is recruiting me the hardest is UCONN and Rutgers."


Have you made any college trips yet?
"I went to Penn State, UCONN, Rutgers, Old Dominion, and Maryland."


What camps are you going to this summer?
"I will attend camps at whoever offers me and shows the most interest in spring recruiting."


Did you have a favorite college growing up?
"Penn State and West Virginia were my favorite colleges growing up."

How did the football season go for your team?
“Our season had tons of up and downs all season. It wasn’t the season we wanted or I️ expected, but we ended up being 6-4. We fell short to Franklin Regional in overtime, so that knocked us out of playoffs.”


What are your workout plans now going forward?
“I️ don’t lift heavy at all right now. I just workout to keep me caught up. I’m in the middle of basketball season right now. I️ try to do what I️ can.”


What are you trying to improve on the most this off-season?
“Definitely my speed. I️ had a meeting with my coach, and I️ know if I️ increase my speed, I️ can take my game to the next level. I️ will be faster in 2018.”


How do you believe your team will be next season?
“I️ think next year we will be fine. It’s crucial that we all have a great off-season and that we have great chemistry coming into the season. We also have to take care of the ball. We control our own destiny.”


What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2018?
“With all of the new teams coming from 6A, we will have a lot of tough games. Every game will be a war, whether it’s Penn Hills, Penn Trafford, Gateway, Franklin Regional, or McKeesport. Our schedule is loaded.”


Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes. My first love was basketball because I️ honestly enjoyed it more and had great relationships in an AAU basketball program. Top level. But now I️ think my future is football.”


What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Penn talks to me here and there, and last year I️ got invited to a few college camps, but that’s about it.”


What school is recruiting you the hardest (skip question if this does not apply)?
“I️ haven’t been recruited heavily by anyone yet. I’m going to stay patient and hope for the best.”

“Me and my mom are planning on heading to Pitt, Penn State, and West Virginia in the near future.”

“I’m not sure what camps I’ll be going to exactly, but I’ll be going to the school camps that I️ have interest in going to the most.”

“My mom was always a Pitt fan, so I️ always liked Pitt. I also enjoy watching Penn State and seeing their crowd. They are loud games.”

Q&A with Manheim Central quarterback Evan Simon

How did the football season go for your team?
"This season the expectations and goals were set well before the season officially took off. We lost 4 All-State players but that was not (much of a) concern. We finished the regular season 10-0. We won the section. We also went on to beat Governor Mifflin in the District 3 5A championship. We made a run in the state semis but came up short when Gateway made a last second field goal."


What are your workout plans now going forward?
"For next season my workouts consist (of) lifting with the football team and speed training."


What are you trying to improve on the most this off-season?
"I mostly want to improve on my speed and consistently making all throws."


How do you believe your team will be next season?
"The teams goal is to win the section and go to the sweetest place on earth, Hershey. With a lot of guys returning the plan is to make it (to) Hershey for the second time in a season for the state championship."


What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2018?
"(Our) toughest game of the year is against our rival Cocalico. We beat them in the regular season and playoffs. Both games were nail biters."


Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
"My dream has always been to play D1 football."


What colleges have been recruiting you?
"I have been looked at by Penn State, Pittsburgh, and Virginia."


Have you made any college trips yet?
"I have made an unofficial visit to (Penn State). The plan is to go to a bunch of (one day) camps and perform well in front of the coaches."

"This summer, I plan to go to Pitt, (Penn State), Virginia, Maryland, and Rutgers."

"All my life I have lived to watch Penn State and go to their games. So PSU is my easy favorite."

Q&A with Franklin quarterback Ian Haynes

How did the football season go for your team?
“My team had an eye-opening experience this year due to a couple of season ending injuries to some upperclassmen. We were forced to play a lot of underclassman. We finished 2-7. I know that’s not very good, but in most games, we were two to three mistakes away from winning.”


What are your workout plans now going forward?
“I’ve already started my weight training. Due to playing two other sports, I’m forced to lift in the morning before school three days a week.”


What are you trying to improve on the most this off-season?
“Once the weather breaks, I️ plan to work hard this off-season on my footwork and speed.”


How do you believe your team will be next season?
“I️ believe we have the ability to be decent. I️ think with the younger guys getting a year under their belts, they will understand what Friday nights are about now.”


What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2018?
“I’m honestly not sure who we play yet. I️ don’t think the schedules has come out yet, but I’d have to believe that tough game will be in the region. It seems like every year our region has two or three very good football teams.”


Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
"Yes. I want to play football or baseball."

"There is nothing major yet. It is just a couple of coaches that have talked to my coach."

"I️ went to YSU camp last season."

Q&A with Aliquippa offensive guard Solvauhn Moreland

How did the football season go for your team?
"We had a very strong year. We made it to the WPIAL 3A championship game. We lost but we surpassed many milestones during the process. We only allow 3.3 points per game, which was a new record, and had one of the best defenses in Aliquippa history."


What are your workout plans now going forward?
"This off-season, I will be working with our strength and conditioning coach, Marlin Devonshire, who is also my uncle. We will work on agility, muscle strength, and endurance."


What are you trying to improve on the most this off-season?
"Muscle strength, muscle endurance, speed, and most importantly what it takes to get to the next level."


How do you believe your team will be next season?
"Next year, I highly expect that Aliquippa High School will win the PIAA state championship game. We must play every game and not overlook any of our opponents."


What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2018?
"I’m not sure who will be our toughest opponent next year because you never know how players will develop."


Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
"Yes, I want to play at the next level. I don’t have a specific college that I would like to go to."

"I’m not 100% sure who is all recruiting me, but I believe Monmouth, Syracuse, and Boston College."

"I have been to Penn State and Pitt."
