Q&A with Central Catholic defensive back Luke Robson

What have you been doing as of late with your workouts?
“Due to my leg injury, I have been hitting my upper body workouts hard. I’ve been beginning to incorporate lower body exercises here and there, in order to get my leg as strong as possible for the season. I’ve begun doing hard cuts again and basically doing everything a normal football player should be able to do. I’m just taking it slow so that I can be at 110% for the season.”

What do you feel you have improved on the most since football ended?
“I believe my upper body strength and most importantly my mentality to get back on the field has changed the most since last season. Also, being off the field for a season has helped me understand football on a whole new level. I’ve had the chance to read formations from the sidelines and see little details that players on the field can’t. I’m doing everything in my power to be ready to help my team win a state championship this year.”

What are your areas of focus going forward?
“I’m going to heavily focus on technique and footwork, as well as understanding route combinations as I prepare for the 2018-2019 season.”

How do you believe your team will be next season?
“I believe our team next year has the chance to be a state contender. We have a young core of men on the offensive line that are getting better each and every day. In addition, I have no doubt that our team will be one of the fastest in the WPIAL on both sides of the ball. If everyone is working together as one collective unit, I don’t see anyone stopping us from reaching or goal.”

What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2018?
“After the whole 6-A conference change up, we still have a lot of tough teams in our section this year. I think our toughest game will be the rematch against Pine-Richland, but I have no worries that we can’t be them. We have a young team that continues to grow as one each day.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes, ever since a little boy I’ve always wanted to play college football. Playing at prime time, under the lights, and at 8:00 on a Saturday night would be unreal. Running out of the tunnel with thousands of fans screaming for you is an experience that I hope I’m grateful enough to be a part of.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I haven’t heavily been recruited by any schools, but I occasionally have brief conversations as my coach introduces me to the college coaches.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have not made any college trips yet, but I’m open for any school that is willing to bring me up and show me around for a couple hours.”

What camps are you going to this summer?
“As of now, I’m contemplating whether or not I will be attending any camps this summer. I may just build up my leg strength and continue working back to 110% so that I’m ready for August. Then I will attend a numerous amount of camps next summer.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Of course, every young boy has his favorite college football teams as he grows up. I was a huge fan of Oregon, because of their uniforms, as well and Penn State, Notre Dame, and I’ve recently begun liking Stanford.”
