Way too early Playoff point rough first go round

I figured it would be fun to see where the current field would sit after just three weeks. Here we go. Please bear with me as this was done very quickly and may have some errors. I will comment on the games that I know anything about. Feel free to comment.
1. DTW 3-0 340 PTS
Missing points for West Mifflin. Big win over Neshaminy will get them a ton of points come crunch time. I've always been impressed with how prepared they are even if they are physically outmatched. When this coach gets talent they are that much better. Playing Kennent this week should be a mercy rule game.
2. PW 3-0 340 PTS
PW looks to be the only real challenge for Upper Dublin in the SOL American, PW has a pure athlete that the coach does a great job of moving around and getting him in space. Kid went 95 yards first play of the game against Souderton on a bad snap...............speed speed speed. Mixed with a little triple option and zone read. Chang always has his team ready. PW plays Upper Merion and should score 40..............in the first quarter.
3. CB East 3-0 340 points
East has an impressive win under their belt at Pennridge in overtime. It was a sloppy game but East has a strong QB in lamb who can run around you or over you......or just give it to Gibson. They play at 1pm on Saturday against THE ONE MAN SHOW CR NORTH. East will out score North as North may be the worst defense in the Suburban One.
4. Upper Dublin 3-0 330 Points
UD is the real deal and so is their QB. He can run it , throw it and has the size to be a D1 kid. I was more impressed with the 3-4 they play.....they are a high pressure attacking defense that creates turnovers. They will mercy rule Cheltenham this weekend. UD scares me as they wont be tested all year outside of PW later in the year. Its always a case of what happens when they punch someone in the face and they just smile and ask for more the first time.
5. Downington East 3-0 320 points
DTE is always well coached and Matta has been there forever. Their TE is a man child and its apparent he gained a ton of strength and worked on blocking technique this year as I though he was soft as TE last year. The kid is an ASS KICKER! They own on a controversial call against North Penn last week and that will will pay dividends when it comes down to the nitty gritty come play off time. They play Bishop Shannahan who last year was a tough out but Im not to sure about this year.
6. Coatesville 3-0 310 Missing points from the dc team they played this year.
Speed Speed Speed is the word at Coatesville as it is every year. Matt Artega has proven hiselft to be one of the better coaches in district one. They lay WCHenderson and should roll
7. Perk Valley 3-0 300 point
Perk Valley is always tough they run a no huddle fast paced offense and have the athletes to do it, Defensively they are an attacking 3-3-5 stack defense that gives spread teams fits. My only concern is that to of their three wins have come of BAD 3a teams............but in their defense, they beat em like they stole something, like they were supposed to. They should pound Owen J Roberts this weekend
8. Quakertown 3-0 310 points
This another team that I would say hasn't played anyone, 1 win for all three teams that they have defeated. But they do have a solid returning cast of athletes so I think they are for real. They are always tough on defense and on offense they have opened things up this year to utilize the talents of their tall qb who came back from wood. They play at number 9 Tennent this Friday
9. Tennent 3-0 300 points
Tennent is gunning for its first winning season since 2005, their first 3 opponents have 0 wins between them. This game is a great test for them and Quakertown. Winner essentially only needs three more wins to get into the playoffs and the loser is left second guessing themselves after beating up the sisters of the poor the first three weeks. Quakertown wins this one........big.
10. SpringFord 3-0 280 points
Brubaker has build a district power house over by grateford. They are in the playoff mix every year and thats what its all about. Consistency. My only question is...........Who have they played? a couple of 3a teams so its hard to gauge them. I don't see them being tested at all in the PAC. Maybe late in the year by Pottsgrove but outside of that I see them running the table and getting a high seed. Their no huddle and athletes are too much for Boyertown
11.Neshaminy 2-1 270 points
Steve Wilmont has seemed to right the ship after the Fredricks show left town. Neshaminy is back to doing what it does best. Lifting in the offseason and smashing people up front. I expect it to be them,Pennsbury, and Npenn for the National. They open league play with an Abington a team that is way down. Skins roll
12. Unionvillege 2-1 270 points
Unionville has developed into one of District ones more solid programs. They always seem to come into the SOLs backyard come playoff time and give em hell. They will get to 3-1 over rustin
13. Souderton 2-1 250 points
Souderton is always a tough out but in watching them vs PW its hard to see what they want to be on offense. They have been wing t for years but Gallagher has gone away from that an employed more spread sets and the use of the wing t out of gun. Be what you are.............They are very well coached and always have tough hard nosed kids. They open league play with a Pennsbury team that may just be too much
14. Truman 2-1 250 points
What a great story they are, A few years back they were quitting games at half time, last year they were on the cusp of the playoffs before inexplicably losing to Norristown. (all part of the learning process) They lost to one of the best teams in the district 38-7 and it was not even that close. If they took the easy route and played a soft schedule they could easily be 3-0. They open league play with CR South. This is going to be a great game. Two of the best option coaches in district one. I see south being too big up front and wearing the tigers down.
15. Pennsbury 2-1 240 points
I expect them to blow the doors off Souderton this week and lose one more game on the way......
16. Norristown 2-1 240
I like doing this early so we can talk about teams like this. Norristown is in their last year in the SOL before bolting to the PAC. Wouldn't it be something if they made some noise? They are always tough early on until the eligibility issues creep up. It has been that way for years. They will beat west and get to 3-1.

Thoughts? Comments?

Petrobras closed today at $4.10. Is it a good buy here?

It still might not be a good buy, as there is probably almost no limit to how low the Brazilian socialists can take this potentially great company. This should be an example of what a combination of corruption, lack of business sense, and liberalism/socialism can do over the long term. Sound like obama at all? All should be thankful that he will have only eight years and not 20 or 30, as there is still a chance to get the ship headed in the right direction with the next election.

If the socialists would get out of the way and let business people take over Petrobras, this stock could get to $30 or $40 a share, creating a great wealth opportunity for all who buy the stock. But, they'd rather control and regulate (once again, sound like obama?) than give all people (employees, shareholders, etc.) a chance to benefit as the company potentially becomes a world-class company that exports oil all over the world from their Lula oil field. Sidenote: the field was initially named Tupi for the Tupi people of Brazil, but was later changed to Lula, named after former president Lula de Silva. Could you imagine the obama oil field in the USA? No wonder it's underachieving for the Brazilians!

Neshaminy 27- Council Rock South 25

What a see sawing nail biter. Council Rock South has a good football team with tough players. They lost tonight because they gave the ball away multiple times. They never quit. Neshaminy still has some work to do, particularly in the middle of the defense, in particular I think at linebacker. Last week Michael Riddick ripped off about an 80 yard TD run and this week Brendan Patterson ripped off 3 or 4 long runs, one of which was stopped at the 1 yard line by a faster Denzel Hughes. South scored on the next play. Patterson was very impressive, never quitting, hard driving and breaking tackles. Faulty pitches caused a coupe of turnovers and a long loss of yards that drove the Golden Hawks back when deep in Redskin territory. Mike Stock played a very hard nosed game. He is a tough kid. LB Ryan McGrann played very well as did Kyle Hickey. Both making several important tackles.

Zach Tredway is a handful for cornerbacks to handle. Denzel Hughes gets a lot of attention, but a 6'3 plus, with good speed and great hands, if Mason Jones can get him the ball in an area where a catch is feasible, there are few kids in the area that can stop him. The problem is Mason has not been as consistently accurate as needed, but they both have another year to grow together. Like last week Tredway made a bunch of big catches. Neshaminy did spread the ball around in the air, and they have a lot of capable recievers in Tredway, Hughes, Spingler, Choice and even starting CB Dave Nuckles who had a huge long reception for a critical first down. That is 5 WRs who contribute in the passing game. Tredway, Hughes and Spingler are all 6'1 or bigger.

Neshaminy got off to a lucky break start when CRSouth fumbled deep in their own territory on the opening drive. Neshaminy went no where and then missed a short field goal. The usually reliable kicker had a rough night with a missed FG, a badly shanked punt, a fumbled snap in his own endzone that he recovered and rush kicked about 20 yards but was creamed on the play giving the Skins a fortunate 1st down due the roughing call.

CR South's second possession was worse when a second fumble was scoop and swooped by Oleh Manzyck for the first score of the game. The Golden Hawks tied it in the second on a long Patterson run. Right before the end of the half, Neshaminy drove down field two nice hard runs by Will Dogba gave the Skins a 3rd and goal at about the 1 or 2 yard line (hard to see with the angle I had). Then, inexplicably, after a drive that was the result of a good ground game, including a long scamper by Jones, the Skins went to the air on the next two plays and failed to score when a receiver had the ball go right through his hands and on the second play, the receiver was short of the goal line. Questionable play calls. 7-7 at the half.

Neshaminy took the second half kickoff and drove 30 yards all by Dogba on the ground in mostly 7 to 10 yard chunks and really imposed their will on the CRS D, to take a 14-7 lead. I thought, all right, this game is over. That was one of thoswe back breaking drives when one team tells the other, we can do what we want to you and you can't stop us. The kind of drive that takes the heart out of an opponent. CRS had other ideas, recognizing the soft Redskin middle and Patterson just gashed them with a long TD run. The PAT was blocked. The Skins led 14-13, but the Hawks had new life. Then came Patterson's 75 yard run to the 1 and CRS missed a two point try, 19-14 Golden Hawks.

A big pass down the sidelines from Mason Jones to Zach Tredway set up the next Neshaminy score on a run by Dogba. The Skins miss a 2 point try, but go up 20-19. CRSouth unbelievably tries a pass that is picked off by Jack Spingler and the Skins drive it in with another run by Dogba with about 3 minutes left. 27-19, Game over right? Wishbone team, cant move it fast from behind and all that. The Hawks take it right down the Skins throats, again the soft middle, with runs by QB Sean Stackhouse, Patterson, Hickey and Stock, and get to the 3 of Neshaminy with less than a minute to go. Once again, a bad pitch costs the Hawks about 20 yards with Patterson falling on the ball. Fourth and forever with 28 seconds left. Pass broken up in the endzone as Tredway streaks across to save the CB who is in a bad position, but a flag is down. The CB is called for PI! New life for the Hawks, but it is still fourth down, but maybe 10 to go, and Stackhouse completes the pass for a TD! The two point try by Stock is just short, Neshaminy leads 27-15 with 24 seconds left and has to endure an onsides kick from the CRS 20 (due to a 15 yard penalty after the TD). they manage to recover it and hang on to win.

What an exciting game!

East/West AAAA contenders

I was streaming the North Penn/Downingtown East game ,while watching the Penn Trafford /McKeesport game on PCN as Im sure some of you also did. I thought based on what I observed that both Western teams were more physical ,faster and better coached than the eastern teams. I would be interested in others opinions of this if you have watched them in action. The District 7 aaaa has a number of very good teams this year ,and these two should be regarded as in the mix IMO.

GV 28. Ridley 10

ridley ran back the opening kickoff , the kicked a FG after GV went for it on 4th and 1 at their end of the field and was stopped, for a 10-0 lead Other than that no offense at all for Ridley and the usual 15 yard penalties.

Ridley d played very well. GV scored two tds off of botched snaps to,the punter and another td in garbage time. The way the league is set up , one of theses teams will likely end up 8-2, but unless there is significant improvement , neither is a threat to,do much damage come playoff time. I don't think GV completed any passes.

Ridleys record against GV with decker at the helm is now 2-6.

DTE 28 NP 24 final

Great HS football game. DTE fumbled opening kick NP drives the short field to go up 7-0; DTE fumbles again on next drive, NP drives short field again to go up 14-0. East finally gets O rolling, mostly runs with NP keeping an eye on Angeline, scores to make it 14-7. NP gets ball back, goes for it on 4th and short that West turns into 47 yd TD run, NP 21-7. East scores to make it 21-14 at half. Third qtr saw DTE defense shutting down West and that big NP O-line. DTE puts two good drives together scoring on both to take 28-21 lead into 4th. Angeline has a few catches but not much of a factor on O. East D holds next NP drive to FG 28-24 DTE. Both teams traded punts with NP taking over with under 2 min from just shy of the 50. Moved the chains once then hit TE over middle down to 10 with about 45 sec. DTE seems to be holding when on 4th down, NP QB throws into endzone on a ball only the DTE defender could have caught. NP receiver playing defense, makes contact and ball falls to the ground. Should have been a non-call, could have been offensive pass interference. Ref throws flag on DTE for def pass int, NP gets another shot. They throw fade that receiver catches in endzone to apparently give NP the win..........wait....flag on NP, cant even remember what the call was. Negates the TD but gives them another shot at it that Angeline intercepts to seal the win. #4 was a tough runner for NP and #28 was just plain tough. QB #7 tall, nice arm not real accurate. Kicker for DTE put every kick in the endzone plus had a 65 yd punt that got them out of bad field pos late.

Downingtown East 28.- North Penn 24

Dtown turns it over on the opening kickoff and on the second series again going down 14-0. In a reverse roll from all the previous great North Penn team, Dtown with its line size seemed to wear down the North Penn team from the second into mid 4th quarter. Notrth Penn seemed to gain steam 1/2 way through the 4th and took the ball all the way to Dtown 4 yd line in the last 2:30 minutes but was pushed back to the 14 by a sack in the last minute. Very controversial ending with an offensive player North Penn pulling down a Dtown defensive player who intercepted in he end zone. In a confusing call the penalty was called against Dtown. North Penn seemingly scores on the next play but a penalty calls back the touch down followed by an interception by the Cougars who ran the last 10 seconds out. I though Downingtown should have won by another score or two. Best of luck rest of season to North Penn.
