The real truth about the Ridley Job

Just to enlighten everyone about the Ridley job Dave Wood was already handed the job even before the thanksgiving day game. From inside sources the AD and him were at the faculty tailgate shaking hands and kissing babies as he had already been introduced to members of the board as the new head coach that morning with the superintendent by his side. So as decker was coaching the game his fate was sealed well before that, so called " I need to spend more time with my family garbage". So putting the job posting out as if Ridley was really looking for a coach was BS, because anyone who had any say in the hiring of the coach already had there guy weeks before the thanksgiving day game and that is the fact. Not to say Decker had already dug his own grave by having zero work ethic, but it's a shame they lead people on. What used to be a prominent program just became classless.

The Ridley Coaching Rumor Thread

So far I have heard the following things, each with differing levels of credibility, nothing that I would classify as anything other than a "rumor":

Waller comes back to guide the ship for a few years, then passes off to a younger coach to take over full time once the program is stable again.
I've heard this a couple times from a couple different people. Not sure if it has any legs or is just wishful thinking.

Waller is taking a coordinator/position job on the Springfield staff.
Supposedly this was before the turnover started at Ridley. Not sure if the recent changes affect his decision, or if he was even taking a job there in the first place.

Former Widener coach Dave Wood is the front runner.
This is the one I would give the most credence to. I've heard it from multiple places, and from the most credible source. I have zero knowledge about Wood as a coach; but if he coached on the collegiate level I'm sure he's more than qualified.

I'm assuming we won't hear anything concrete until the next school board meeting; but if there are whispers around The Mont or the Republican Club keep the baseless speculation coming.

Mount Union Area HS

I have family in the Fairfield/Gettysburgh Area, and my wife is from Maryland. We are currently living in South Carolina, where I've been coaching for eight years. I'm trying to find out as much as I can about this job opportunity before applying. Can anyone give me any information/background? Is there a decent amount of talent? Community support? Administration support athletics? This would be a huge move for us, and I don't necessarily want to put in for the job and go through the process if they've already got someone in place and just posting it and going through the motions for the sake of it. Thanks in advance.

Venezuela devalued their currency this week. Socialism fails once again...

Why would anyone think that a socialist, Bernie Sanders (a.k.a. Rip Van Winkle) would be a good choice for president when socialism is failing around the world? Venezuela is in dire straits, Brazil should be an economic engine, but is in a multi-year recession, Cuba is a mess despite attempts by President Incapable (obama) to prop them up; and Europe is a disaster as decades of socialism are now taking their toll.

Do people study current events and past history? Socialism simply doesn't work. I don't think Sanders has much of a chance, not because Hillary is a strong candidate; it's more of a factor of the dems not letting Sanders win because they know that he means what he says, as opposed to Hillary, who is just saying it to get elected.

But the number of people who think Sanders is the answer is pretty scary. Do these people think they need to government to help make them successful? Why are they scared to work hard and pay the price for success?

As far as Sanders wanting to make college free for everyone, this would not be a problem if the liberals who run almost all colleges hadn't screwed this up so badly by raising tuition rates so much. Liberals create the problem and then they expect liberals/socialists to come in and fix it? There is no logic there.

Has anyone heard anything about the government being held accountable for our immigration.....

policies, based on the San Bernardino killer's fiancee being let into the country, which was obviously a huge mistake? Just checking to see if I missed anything because this would surely be a topic that would be debated in the news media, especially on the left. I mean, you let in a killer who helped to take out 21 people. Who exactly in government is responsible for this? What policies need to be amended based on this huge mistake? What is the current status of this policy that allowed it to happen? You can say all you want about the GOP candidates taking foolish shots at each other, and there is a lot of validity in those comments, but this issue is a lot more serious and I haven't once hear "O" explain what he is doing about it.

What a shit show last night.... The GOP is a joke....

There was not one candidate on that stage that should be president.....
I actually felt bad for Bush arguing with Trump like they were in grade school.
Christie lets start a war with Russia and China, can't eat his way out of that one.
Rubio is a robot says whatever he thinks the base wants him to say. The immigration issue alone will kill him.
Cruz is smarmy and slick like a used car salesman, I hope he gets the nomination, there is no way woman and minorities will vote for him.
Kaisich- We get it you did well in Ohio, the country ain't Ohio, move on.
Fiorina makes me want to vomit every time she opens her mouth. Failed business woman that acts like she knows it all. She lies in her dreams.
Carson thinks that children who has brain surgery hated him before the surgery and loved him after, just like terrorits will hate him when he bombs them but will love him when he sets up a democracy.... huh?
Paul is the best of a bad lot but he hasn't a snow balls chance in hell of winning because he doesn't saber rattle like the rest.
Trump is a carnival barker who I am sending money to because he will give Hilary a free pass to the White House.

Four states say they won't take Syrian refugees.

In an effort to preempt President Incapable, who wants 200,000 Syrians refugees to come to live in the United States, four states have said they won't take refugees. Texas, Michigan, Alabama, and Arkansas have said no. President Incapable could still do an executive order, but it's good to see that state leaders have the judgment and leadership that is necessary during times like these. The 98-lb. weakling just got weaker!

"All Star" 7 on 7 teams

Is it me or are more and more of these "all star" teams/camps popping up everywhere? I definitely thought this a little before but most certainly know it now, these teams are designed to put cash in the pockets of adults feasting off of kids. It may not be a whole lot of cash but it is definitely something. I talk to quite a few college coaches and never has one of them said yea I saw them at this 7 on 7 tournament or I watched tape of them at this tournament. Yes, maybe the national ones are legit but there are some that charge a team 650 dollars. There are colleges that run these tournaments also and only charge 150 dollars or 250 dollars, but they are upfront saying it is a fundraiser for their football program or a recruiting tool. Unfortunately, it is a part of sports, but the empty promises of getting "looks," or "scholarships" or whatever are creating egos that are not very attractive to college coaches.

Demise of Chesmont

i thought the league was on the upswing for the last 5-7 years or so with Coatesville's success and some pretty strong years during this span from both Dtowns, WC Rustin, Unionville, Great Valley and Henderson. Heard some of the 6A coaches are unhappy w league scheduling. The 6A's are required 4) 5A games (Henderson WC East and Shanahan are 5A plus the crossover game). I'm curious if the league modifies for just football or if the 4) 6A teams look to the PAC 10 or Central since they border or possibly the Suburban for mergers. Central didn't want the big 4 and not sure if they would want them now? Personally bring back the old days w SpringFord, Boyertown and OJ plus I'd like to play Perk Valley every season. Traffic heading to Montco is much easier vs then the Delco roads (I'm originally from Delco so I can say that!)

Looking ahead to the SOL National in 2016

Nice write-up from Eastern Pa Football. Only 7 teams in the National this year with the realignment: Abington, Bensalem, CRN, CRS, Neshaminy, Pennsbury and Truman. Neshaminy looks to be the solid favorite, if not the prohibited favorite.

So what is D1 and all its leagues going to do with the schedule? Are they starting the week before Labor Day? The National (and Continental) teams will only have 6 league games.

If unemployment is really below 5%, why is the 10-year t-bill below 1.75%?

Didn't we just get news last Friday that the unemployment rate dropped to 4.9%? If this is the case, why has the 10-year t-bill, a good indicator of how well the economy is doing and is expected to do in the near future, dropped to 1.67% vs. 2.36% as recently as November? If we were truly so close to full employment, the yield on the 10-year t-bill would be going higher, not lower.

The trick is that the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics) uses a seasonal adjustment number to account for retailers slowing down after the holidays. In this case, they used 2.165 million jobs as the seasonal adjustment number. This number is mostly random. Had the BLS used the 2010 seasonal adjustment number, we would have lost 183,000 jobs instead of adding 151,000 jobs. There is no consistent formula used to determine this number and it appears that the BLS has a huge amount of latitude to use a number that makes the amount of jobs added look better than it really is.

No doubt that obama wants to make his last year as good as it possibly can be, so we will see what tricks he has up his sleeve. The first one was the budget that was originally submitted in mid-December and was slated to have juiced the economy by an extra 0.7% in 2016. Remember, if obama doesn't get everything he wants, it's the Republicans who are "shutting down the government" regardless of the $500 billion that is scheduled to be added to the debt in 2016.

Neshaminy Honored as part of Super Bowl 50 Celebration

Neshaminy School District
February 2 at 1:43pm

Neshaminy has made Super Bowl history! As part of the celebration of Super Bowl 50, the NFL sent high schools across the country a gold-colored football in honor of their alumni players that competed in Super Bowls during the past 50 years. Neshaminy has received FOUR of these footballs - which are now on display at NHS.

Our honored players are:

Chris Bahr, NHS Class of 1970. Chris was a place kicker for the Oakland and Los Angeles Raiders, playing in Super Bowl XV and XVIII. His brother Matt Bahr (see below) was also a NHS graduate and NFL Super Bowl Player. For college, Chris attended and played for Penn State.

Matt Bahr, NHS Class of 1974. Matt was a place kicker in Super Bowl XIV for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Super Bowl XXV for the New York Giants. For college Matt attended and played for Penn State.

Harry Schuh: NHS Class of 1961. Harry was a tackle, playing for the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl II. For college, Harry attended and played for the University of Memphis.

Steve Shull: NHS Class of 1976. Steve was a linebacker and one of three captains for the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl XVII. For college, Steve attended and played for College of William and Mary.

According to the NFL, only 36 schools across the country out of 2000 honored had four or more players in the Super Bowl.
