Rest In Peace former Coatesville Star Sean Schellenger

I remember him transferring in from Great Valley after freshman or sophomore year and really adding to a Coatesville team who was in need of a QB that year. Tremendous athlete who went on to earn a spot as a walk on Joe Paterno’s Penn State team. Terrible and senseless act took his life. Two families lives (victim and killer’s families) will be changed forever.

District 12 Transfer Rumor

I am hearing some rumors that district 12 will be implementing a transfer rule that will prohibit transfers (11th and 12th grade to be) to participate in PIAA playoffs for the season in which the player initially transfers to his new school.

Whats interesting about this is that PUB and PCL league playoffs are considered to be an extension of the PIAA playoffs.
That being said, transfers will not be permitted to play in any post season games.

This might slow slow some teams down from trying to form "super teams".

It will certainly be interesting to see how this all plays out.

All classes shown at link

Pennlive Preseason 6A
1. St. Joseph’s Prep (12) – 13-1 – 2
2. Pine-Richland (7) – 16-0 – 1
3. Coatesville (1) – 13-2 – 3
4. Parkland (11) – 13-1 – 5
5. Williamsport (4) – 7-4 – NR
6. North Allegheny (7) – 8-4 – NR
7. State College (6) – 10-3 – 8
8. North Penn (1) – 9-3 – NR
9. Central Bucks South (1) – 7-4 – NR
10. Erie (10) – 9-3 – NR

I don't agree with the above rankings so here are some other thoughts.
D1
Leaving Neshaminy out is weird and maybe Downingtown West. CB South at #9 in State. Maybe in SE PA but State?
D2
N/A
D3
Come on guys, Cumberland Valley always, especially with a QB that can throw in Plessinger. Class 4 and 5 probably stronger this year than most 6A teams in the district.
D4
Unless they got a lot of transfers, ranking them at 5 is really absurd. 2A Southern Columbia would blow them off the field.
D5
N/A
D6
Swap out State High for Parkland or Williamsport and you’re there. LOADED!
D7
If you yank CB South and Williamsport, Central Catholic is in.
D8
Nothing here with last year’s best, Allderdice losing to Altoona and struggling to beat DuBois.
D9
N/A
D10
Erie High loaded at skill that averaged 40ppg last year. Awesome early schedule will reveal. Probably headed for another showdown with State in West semi.
D11:
Freedom is looking scary and Emmaus has Rb Ntoh and the Whitehall Qb transfer I believe (?)
D12:
LaSalle….a lot of good players

Q&A with Clearfield wide receiver Jake Lezzer

What have you been doing as of late with your workouts?

What do you feel you have improved on the most since football ended?

Who do you open the football season with? What are your thoughts on them overall?
“DuBois. They always have a real good team and it should be a good game.”

How do you believe your team will be next season?

What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2018?

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?

Q&A with Waynesboro defensive tackle Daniel Worthy

What have you been doing as of late with your workouts?
“I have been working a lot with chest and arms more than anything to get my strength to where it needs to be. I've also been doing burst sprints to improve my acceleration so when the ball is snapped, I’m ready to go. Also, my coaches have been having me use my hands more and improving my hand speed, so I can shed blocks more efficiently.”

What do you feel you have improved on the most since football ended?
“Hand movement. I used to just use my speed to get across the line to make a tackle. That was great, but when you add the hand movement we have been working with my speed, it is a deadly combo.”

Who do you open the football season with? What are your thoughts on them overall?
“This year, we open up with Red Land and they are an unknown territory to us. Looking at the record they had last year, it wasn't really good for them, but they also had very tough schedule. I'm ready to face any challenge we face.”

How do you believe your team will be next season?
“I think we are going to put on a show for you guys. We have a lot of young guys stepping up with Johnny Hoffman being a big help at the wide receiver position. Also, our offensive line guys are putting in work with Gunner Lesher learning the ropes fairly quickly for a young one. The real key is going to be our defense. Quentin Gaskill, Adam Wertz, and other players are showing why we aren't a team to be messed with. Also, our d-line is only getting better and better.”

What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2018?
“I believe Bishop McDevitt is going to be our biggest challenge. First, they are unknown to us and also, they are known to be a great team. I personally can't wait to face them myself.”

“Yes, I want to play football in college football. It has been my main sport since I was 8.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I have colleges looking at me like UMASS, Duquesne, Bloomsburg, and many others but no offers yet.”

What have you been doing as of late with your workouts?
“Individually, I have a tight schedule workout wise each week. Our strength and conditioning coach, Tom Moore, has me on a diet and as for strength training, my uncle George Barnes of Que Fitness in Rochester, New York designs a week list of workouts to get me stronger in each area of my body. As for conditioning, my teammates and I speed train and do yoga at Spooky Nook with Jim Launer and his team.”

What do you feel you have improved on the most since football ended?
“Since last season, my most improved area is probably my technique on the defensive side of the ball. I’ve gotten more aware of my body and how to use it to my advantage against taller offensive lineman.”

Who do you open the football season with? What are your thoughts on them overall?
“My brothers and I open up at Cumberland Valley. They’re all a tough group of guys who always play us tough. I feel like they have a solid group of kids who grew up playing the same style of football and will be a great test to show the state what McDevitt football has evolved to become.”

How do you believe your team will be next season?

This is why we need another party!! Or two!!

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/polit...-to-plane-issues-report/ar-AAzvB6G?li=BBnb7Kz

Read the article. Just as the Tea Bag party took over the Republicans or at least gained enough control as to create conflicts, the Democrats face the same thing from the extreme left who think they're not being heard. Both the Dems and the Repubs are not what they used to be just 20 short years ago. Now the centrists of both parties are not being heard. They're being corralled. And another example of it getting out of control is the victory Ocasio-Cortez won in the NY primary. Is this women for real? Free state college tuition, free medical, basically open borders, etc...! This is the new face of the Democratic party?? We need another party or two!!

Q&A with Oil City defensive tackle Mario Fontanazza

What have you been doing as of late with your workouts?
“On Monday and Wednesday, I go to weightlifting with the football team. On Saturday, I go weightlifting with my grandfather. On Tuesday and Thursday, I do speed training with the team and then on Sunday, I go down to Ethics Training in Cranberry Township for another speed workout.”

What do you feel you have improved on the most since football ended?
“I believe I have improved the most on my strength and quickness.”

Who do you open the football season with? What are your thoughts on them overall?
“We open with the Conneaut Eagles and I think they are a very solid team. We lost to them in five overtimes last year. I think if we can perform like I know we can, then we can beat them. They are a team to be respected nonetheless.”

How do you believe your team will be next season?

Q&A with Boys' Latin Charter wide receiver Mohamed Diawara

What do you feel you have improved on the most since football ended?
“I have seriously improved on creating separation in my routes and being explosive with footwork to better my playmaking ability.”

Who do you open the football season with? What are your thoughts on them overall?
“We open the season with Prep Charter High School. I believe they are a young team that is light on numbers. I know they have a new coaching staff. We can never underestimate any team’s abilities, but It should be a match where we walk in and walk out with a win if we do what we have to do. Our team really decides our own fate.”

How do you believe your team will be next season?
“I believe my team will be fine next season. We have a bunch of seniors and many returning starters. Overall, we should have a great season because it starts with us seniors like me, QB Malik Johnson, and linebacker Damir Smith-Lockett. All the younger guys look up to us, so we just have to lead by example and keep each other going day in and day out.”

What is the toughest game on your schedule for 2018?
“The toughest game on our schedule would probably be Archbishop Carroll. That game means the most to us because it’s the only Catholic team we play, and it means much for us. “My speed and weight. I have gained 30 to 35 pounds this off-season and gotten my speed down to the mid 4.4s.”

“Conneaut because they are a pretty good team. We have a solid chance at them if we show out defensively.”
