NFL Draft 2019 Top DL Prospects Projected 1st Round

DT - 6'3,280LB Ed Oliver - Houston
Strengths - Instinctively quick off of the football and will be an elite pass rusher at the next level. Has quick and reactive hands that can be seen shedding blocks like a middle linebacker, against Rice.
Weaknesses - While he is similar to Aaron Donald, Oliver can be seen getting manhandled at :51 seconds into the highlights against Rice. Oliver can get blown off the ball at times, but as you can see on the very next play, is dangerously quick to the football.

DT - 6'2, 294LB Isaiah Buggs - Alabama
Strengths - My James Harrison of the 2019 NFL Draft, Isaiah Buggs is one of the toughest young men I have witnessed in the trenches and is deserving of a first round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. He is much like Ed Oliver in how he plays the game, but he is much better at holding his ground in the trenches, against much bigger SEC opponent.
Weaknesses - Not gonna find many like Buggs that can play at any position on the DL and can collapse the pocket as quickly. He is listed all over the place with his Ht/Wt, his camp might want to clear this up, as NFL scouts begin to flood into Tuscaloosa.

Pitt vs Notre Dame - The 71st Meeting - Sat Oct 13th @ 12:30 EST on NBC

Coach Sherrill played for Coach Paul Bear Bryant, who is considered one of the best football coaches in the history of College Football. The lessons Coach Bryant was able to instill in Coach Sherrill led him to taking over at Pitt, after Johnny Majors retired, where he had been a assistant in prior years. After a 3-8 finish as the Head Coach of Washington State the year before, Sherrill redefined Pitt football and has arguably the most impressive resume of any Pitt football coach in the history of the program. Brian Kelly has brought new and innovative training methods to the Fighting Irish and they have worked magically at winning crucial games that have shot them up all three polls. The first three games of the season were not impressive and Notre Dame looked like a decent team, as they were able to defeat the Michigan Wolverines at home. Mid State Football Top 30 (1-15)….Oct 10, 2018

Districts 3, 4, 5, 6

1 Manheim Central 5A 7-0
The Barons take over the top spot in the Mid State with their unexpectedly easy 43-7 win against Lampeter Strasburg. Ben Wagner got things going returning the opening kickoff 86 yards to ignite the rout. Qb Evan Simon completed 9 of 12 passes for 208 yards for 2 touchdowns with Tyler Flick rushing for 86 yards on 17 carries. The win also gets them to 1st place in Section-2 with Conestoga Valley losing to Cocalico. They move on to Conestoga Valley to see what they have left following their 49-14 loss to Cocalico.

2 Harrisburg 6A 6-1
Harrisburg moved up in the rankings following a convincing win at Severance Field against previously undefeated State College, 32-17. The offense has become explosive while the defense that was always strong against the run is also improving, holding SC to 300 total yards. Qb Kane Everson was again sensational, completing 7 of 13 passes for 147 yards (2 Tds) while rushing for 148 yards on 20 carries. Pass defense is still an issue allowing SC 250 yards despite a 2nd quarter Pick-6 returned 44 yards giving the Cougars momentum before the break. But the run defense is turning into something very special, holding the Lions to 50 yards rushing. 50! Impressive stuff coming on the heels of the 20-5 win at Central Dauphin the week before. Mid Penn action continues Friday at vastly improved Chambersburg (6-1).

3 State College 6A 6-1
State ran into a well-oiled machine last week losing to Harrisburg High 32-17 in the city. But they couldn’t stop Tommy Friberg who completed 23 of 36 passes for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns. Keaton Ellis was his primary, catching 12 tosses for 142 yards and 2 scores. A 2nd quarter Pick-6 hurt as did a subsequent interception and untimely penalties. State’s inability to move the ball on the ground (50 yards) was compounded by the inability to stop Harrisburg on the ground, where they yielded 250 yards rushing. They’ll need to tighten that up this week at Central Dauphin in another monster Mid Penn Commonwealth game where both are tied with Chambersburg at 3-1 in the MP-Commonwealth behind Harrisburg.

4 Bishop McDevitt 4A 6-1
A steady diet of easy wins looks good in the stat books but does little to prep you for the postseason in the way (eg) Berks Catholic has with their schedule of Central Dauphin, McDonogh and Malvern Prep. Guess we’ll see in Districts! So for now it’s impressive and allows the offense to coalesce to 49ppg! They beat Lower Dauphin (1-6) last week 56-7 (49-0 at half) with Qb Chase Diehl topping the 2000 yard mark completing 11 of 11 for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wide out Nazir Burnett went over 1000 for the season snagging 3 passes for 132 yards. Mario Easterly caught 3 for 92 yards with Omari Hopkins catching 2 for 80 yards. All this with T’ynis Becker still sidelined. CJ Reyes-Diggs rushed for 136 yards. All that remains is 2-5 Hershey this week, 1-6 Mechanicsburg then city rival Susquehanna Township (5-2) who finally has it going winning their last 5.

5 Wilson 6A 5-2

Wilson reeled off 3 straight wins after the 2-2 start, knocking off Hempfield 26-16 last week and Manheim Township the week before to take sole possession of the Lancaster Lebanon Section-1 at 3-0. First year started Anthony Futrick continues his progress completing 15 of 26 for 146 yards, mostly to versatile running back Elijah Morales who had 34 yards on 9 catches and 60 yards rushing. The Black Knight’s D slowed but couldn’t stop Wilson’s attack. Freshman Isaiah Gilmore got more work with 4 carries for 48 yards. On the other side, the Bulldog D got a Pick-6 of 55 yards by Brady Gibble while holding Hempfield to 247 total yards. Soph place kicker Jack Wagner nailed field goals of 29 and 38 yards. This week sees them heading south on Rt-222 to Lititz taking on Warwick in a significant LL-1 confrontation knowing at 3-0, they are a game up on the Warriors at 3-1 and Township at 2-1. And while Wilson seems to be getting it together and have won the last 11 matchups, they have not been the picture of consistency that will be needed to win this one!

6 Manheim Township 6A 6-1
Manheim Township won a key game with Warwick last week, emerging from a 7-7 halftime score to edge the Warriors 28-20. Jaden Floyd’s 2nd quarter injury (?) allowed Cam Horst to rush for 80 yards, combined with Qb Harrison Kirk’s 48 to give the Streaks a ground game. Kirk, another first year starting quarterback, had a strong outing, completing 21 of 33 passes for 247 yards with 2 Td strikes. Their total O was 406 yards (159 rushing) to Warwick’s 272 yards, of which only 18 were rushing. Nice win. Section-1 action continues at Cedar Crest (4-3) in Lebanon where the Falcons can be pesky with Qb Logan Horn now healthy, throwing for 230 yards last week against Penn Manor. But an average loss of 46-15 to York, Hempfield and Warwick says they’ll have to be perfect to hang with Township.

7 Central Dauphin 6A 5-2.
Look out District-3, it appears the Rams have found a quarterback with Noah Hoffman completing 13 of 17 for 192 yards and 2 scores in a 49-7 throttling of Altoona at Mansion Park. He completed 12 of 32 the week before against Harrisburg, giving him 64 of 98 for 872 yards on the season. That’s a decent 65% clip. Freshman Max Mosey completed 2 of 3 for 72 yards showing good balance at 264 yards passing with 220 rushing yards. The Mountain Lions were held to 216 total yards. The win keeps them tied with State College and Chambersburg at 3-1 with State College up next at Landis. The Rams got back on track last week, rebounding from the 20-5 Harrisburg loss while State is coming off their 32-17 loss to Harriburg.

8 Berks Catholic 4A 5-2
Berks Catholic beat Kutztown 63-0 in a game that was 51-0 at the half. Kutztown was facing a serious shortage of players per interest and injury dressing only 16 that to date has seen them outscored 338 to 12! Both sides agreed to play the game under the Mercy Rule following the 1st quarter. Schuylkill Valley (4-3) is next, followed by Fleetwood before the big one against archrival Wyomissing, currently 6-1.

9 Southern Columbia 2A 7-0
The Tigers won their 68th straight regular season game with a 62-7 shellacking of Jersey Shore. Gaige Garcia rushed for 216 yards and 4 touchdowns before sitting early as did the entire team. But not before pounding out 440 rush yards on the way to 584 total yards of offense. JS was held to 104 total yards of which 34 were on the ground. The devastation of Heartland Athletic Conference foes continues this week at Shikellamy against the 1-6 Braves.

10 Cocalico 5A 5-2
Cocalico went on the road to resurgent Conestoga Valley (5-2), winners of their last 4 games in an LL-Section 1-2 crossover game, coming away with a 49-14 win. CV wilted before Cocalico’s option, allowing 362 rushing yards and 408 total offense. The Eagles defense was just the opposite, holding them to 200 total yards (12-1st downs) and only 137 on the ground. Garrett Longenecker was the spark at 13.45 ypc for 148 yards rushing, helping the Eagles end a 2 game slide. They’re at 2-1 in the LL-2 chasing Manheim Central at 3-0. Cocalico has Garden Spot (0-7), Solanco (5-2) and Lampeter Strasburg (4-3) left while Manheim Central has Conestoga Valley, Garden Spot and Solanco remaining.

11 Warwick 5A 5-2
Warwick had a decent game against Manheim Township last week but you can’t throw 3 picks, lose a fumble and allow your quarterback to be sacked twice and have any hope of winning on the road, especially in a neighborhood rivalry game against Township. They didn’t, losing 28-20. There weren’t many big plays in a game featuring grinding drives with short, pounding bursts for scores; Warwick having a 2-yd pass, a 1-yd plunge and a 12-yd pass for touchdowns, while the Blue Streaks had a 22 and 27-yd touchdown toss, and two 2-yd burst for scores. Tandem Qbs Adam Rickett and Joey McCracken were a combined 22 of 35 for 264 yards, Ricketts going 11/17/122-0/2, McCracken at 11/18/142-2/1, with Trey Glass and Hilton Michael snagging most of the throws at 13 for 102 and 10 for 98 yards respectively. Next is a momentous game with Wilson where Warwick can draw them even with the Bulldogs, while a loss will essentially lock things up for Wilson.

12 Cedar Cliff 5A 5-2
Cedar Cliff won their 4th straight game since losing to Harrisburg, taking charge of the Mid Penn-Keystone after routing punch-less Hershey (2-5) 48-7. It was over at the half where the Colts took a commanding 35-7 lead. Qb Chris Dare just keeps getting better, completing 12 of 14 passes for 192 yards and throwing 4 touchdowns. Wide outs Jahiem Reynolds caught 4 for 188 yards with Bobby Whalen catching 5 for 68 yards. Each had 2 touchdowns. Jaheim Morris rushed for 136 yards and 2 scores as the Colts overwhelmed the Bears in total yards 415 to 86! The win keeps them atop the division one game up on Bishop McDevitt who they’ve already defeated 50-43. 1-6 Mechanicsburg is next.

13 Chambersburg 6A 6-1
The Trojans overcame a 20-19 Central Dauphin East lead at the half to edge the Panthers 26-20. Not only was it a rare win at Landis Field where East and Central Dauphin play, but it also kept them in the MP-Commonwealth race at 3-1, deadlocked with Central Dauphin and State High behind Harrisburg 4-0. Chambersburg running back Keyshawn Jones ran wild, gaining 310 yards on 31 carries, putting him at 1295 yards for the season. It will be interesting this week seeing if Chambersburg runs right at Harrisburg behind center Brock Harmon 6-0 280, RG Tucker Karns 6-0 265 and LG Wyatt Hull 6-0 245. The rest of the line is RT Jake Corwell 5-11 210, LT Tucker Eiker 5-11 215 and TE Garner Funk 6-3 230. That’s kind of a typical line in the division, maybe a little light at tackle. Harrisburg comes in on a roll, winners of their last 6 games since losing in the opener to Coatesville.

14 Middletown 3A 6-1
District-3 heavyweights Middletown and previously undefeated Milton Hershey slugged it out in a near classic last week with Middletown responding from 14-13 and 21-20 deficits to eke out a 32-21 win in Hershey. Their big guns Jose Lopez rushed for 158 yards and 2 scores while Richie Sykes had 104 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. They held the edge in rushing but not by much, 264 to 212 and in total yards 334 to 252. The win allows them to hold on to 1st place in the Mid Penn-Capital tied with Palmyra at 4-0. MH falls to 3-1. Middletown is home Friday against winless Trinity.

15 Red Lion 6A 5-2
How about Red Lion pulling off one of the larger upsets of the year stunning previously unbeaten York 21-20 to throw the York-Adams into turmoil with 5 teams deadlocked at 3-1; Red Lion, York, Central York, Northeastern and Dallastown. York had built a 20-7 lead before the Lions came roaring back (did I really say that?) behind Qb Zach Mentzer’s 2 touchdowns in the final 10 minutes of the game to soph Randy Fitzer who ended with 118 yards on 7 receptions. All of this was facilitated by an on-side kick, and the conversion of a 4th and 10 with just under 4 minutes to play. Pretty exciting stuff in front of a home crowd! A schedule read shows Red Lion in the cat bird seat facing one of the conference leaders (shown above) while the rest face two contenders. The quest begins Friday at New Oxford (2-5) in Adams County, 10 miles east of Gettysburg along Rt-30 where the Patriots at 20ppg can score points but are sieve-like defensively, allowing 40ppg.

Mid State Football Top 30 (16-30..plus)….Oct 10, 2018

Districts 3, 4, 5, 6

16 Central York 6A 6-1
Central York cruised to their 3rd consecutive romp, blistering Spring Grove (1-6) 58-14. The halftime score was 51-7. The 2 previous routs were road win at New Oxford 60-21 and South Western 54-14. Qb Cade Pribula completed 15 of 18 passes for 282 yards and 5 touchdowns before sitting, bringing his season total to 106 completions on 165 attempts (64%) for 2172 yards. His Td/Pick ratio is 27/4. He holds the all-time York County record of 6226 yards passing. And the defense held the Rockets to 46 total yards to their 380. Nice! They’re at Northeastern (4-3) this week where the men from Manchester won 4 of their last 5 games including the 23-16 upset of Red Lion 2 weeks ago. With record setting Cade Pribula at the helm for CY, the Bobcats are disadvantaged. But barring weeks 1 and 2 where they lost to Solanco and Carlisle, they are undefeated at home. Then there’s the Red Lion upset reminding Central needs to stay focused to gain their 7th win.

17 York (William Penn) 5A 6-1
Dayjure Stewart had a 73 yard run in the 2nd quarter while Rob Rideout added an 80 yard run in the 3rd giving the explosive Bearcat team a 20-7 lead that wasn’t quite enough. Two unanswered Red Lion scores (see Red Lion) in the 4th quarter along with York’s missing an extra point sealed the deal in a 21-20 loss. Dayjure Stewart had 162 yards on 22 carries and a 52 yard reception for a score, showing why he is one of the best running back in the York-Adams with a season total of 1555 yards rushing. Red Lion is the best team they’ve played to date with previous opponents having a 12 and 29 record headlined by Dallastown and Cedar Crest, both 4-3, followed by Reading (1-6), McCaskey (1-6). New Oxford (2-5) and Spring Grove (1-6). They’ll get back on track this week at home against winless South Western.

18 Dallastown 6A 4-3
Dtown humbled 2-5 New Oxford 45-14 to secure a 5 way tie in the York-Adams Conference (See Red Lion). The win was their 4th in the last 5 games after opening with losses to Hempfield and Manheim Township of the Lancaster Lebanon League. Nyzair Smith showed why he is right there with Dayjure Stewart of York High, rushing for 362 yards and 4 touchdowns, giving his 18 touchdowns for the year and 1604 yards rushing on the season. The Wildcats will continue their winning ways Friday at Spring Grove (1-6) in what should be a tune up before the big one at Central York the following week.

19 Williamsport 6A 5-2
Williamsport returned a fumble 72 yards for a score at the mid-point of the 4th quarter, then failed to stop Pittston who drove the field for what appeared to be the winning score with just over a minute left in regulation, leading 33-29. But that was no problem for Williamsport’s explosive yet inconsistent attack as they converted a 4th and 10 from Pittston’s 46, before moving in behind Qb Joe Fagnano’s legs and arm, hitting his favorite target Marcus Simmons for and 11 yard strike in the middle of the end zone with 7 seconds left to give the Millionaires a 36-33 win. They’re at Milford Friday playing Delaware Valley (4-3) who is rebuilding after graduating arguably their best team ever. They are 3-1 in their last 4 games.

20 Susquehanna Township 4A 5-2
Susquehanna Township rose in the ratings from 29th after beating Conrad Weiser 19-6 who was previously ranked 17th . The game held significance for seeding concerns with both in Distict-3’s 4A classification. So it was a special Homecoming taking down Weiser and holding them to 200 total yards of offense. Troy Ambush (5-11, 190) who is a load to tackle rushed for 118 yards on 15 carries while Jequest Garced had a 59 yard punt return for 6. Qb Rahsaan Carlton threw effectively completing 5 of 8 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown as “Hanna” gained their 5th straight win. They return to Mid Penn-Keystone action Friday at home against Red Land (1-6). Currently they are tied with Cedar Cliff in 1st place, a game ahead of Bishop McDevitt.

21 Conrad Weiser 4A 5-2
Hats off to Conrad Weiser despite losing a tough road trip in Harrisburg to Susquehanna Township 19-6. They’ve stepped up the schedule to play the Indians the last 5 years and earlier in the year played Cocalico. They played Berks Catholic in last year’s upgrade plus Wyomissing and LL members over the years. Berks Inter County-Section 1 action continues Friday at home against 1-6 Reading where they will cruise. Then Muhlenberg (0-7) before the regular season closer at Governor Mifflin with whom they are currently tied atop the Berks at 4-0, a game ahead of Exeter Township.

22 Governor Mifflin 5A 4-3
The Mustangs stock keeps rising winning their 4th straight since consecutive losses to Cedar Cliff, Wilson and Cocalico. Clearly the comp got easier but winning is winning and apart from allowing the rebuilt offense to jell, it has developed great confidence. You might say they’ve arrived….or are arriving, outscoring their last 4 opponents 181-33. With a great sophomore class, a new head coach in Jeff Lang (replaced legendary Mick Vecchio), and the growth pains of breaking in talented but young skill types (Qb Kolbie Reeser-Jr, Rb Nicholas Singleton-Fr), you knew it’d take time. They graduated a loaded team last year that beat the state’s top rated 5A Harrisburg 26-14 in Districts and the 6A District-3 champ Manheim Township 49-14 in the regular season before losing to Manheim Central 30-29 in the district final. Last week saw them defeat Boone 49-0 with Qb Kolbie Reeser completing 7 of 8 passes for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns. They’re at Lower Dauphin (1-6) who’s coming off consecutive losses to Cedar Cliff 48-14 and Bishop McDevitt 56-7.

23 Exeter Township 5A 4-3
Qb Kolby Haag had a memorable outing against Reading completing 17 of 21 passes for 384 yards and 2 touchdowns as they overwhelmed the Knights 51-14. It was a balanced attack with receivers Alex Javier catching 5 passes for 126 yards and a score, and Matt Feeney snagging 2 for 94 yards. Jeremiah Nixon and Steven Rose led the ground assault with Nixon getting 94 yards and 2 touchdowns on 15 carries and Rose getting 90 yards on 13 carries with 3 touchdowns. All totaled the Eagles generated 569 total yards of offense to Readings 182. Conference action continues Friday at home against Twin Valley (4-3) before the showdown with Mifflin’s Mustangs.

24 Mount Carmel 2A 5-2
The Red Tornadoes recorded their 2nd straight shutout defeating winless Hughesville 48-0. 7 Sacks and 18 negative plays says the Spartans were overwhelmed! Conference action continues Friday at South Williamsport where the Mounties season at 4-3 is unraveling after losing two straight to Columbia County teams, Southern 54-20 and Central 48-27. They’ll likely be cranked up after losing in the District-4 2A Quarterfinals last year 28-14.

25 Hempfield 6A 3-4
Tough year for the Black Knights reloading from last year’s 8-4 group but now facing a higher quality of teams with a group ravaged by graduation. But they’re still a tough squad, holding Wilson to 2 field goals and 306 total yards of offense in a 26-16 loss. A Pick-6 of 55 yards in the 3rd quarter really hurt. Notably, all 7 of Hempfield’s opponents have a winning record. Not too many teams can say that at this point in the season. Many teams in the Mid-State would have a difficult time against Manheim Central (7-0), Central York (6-1), Warwick (5-2) and Wilson (5-2), teams the Knights lost to 28-7, 35-31, 27-0 and 26-16 respectively. But they’re well coached by Ron Zieber who has them in most games. They’re at 1-6 McCaskey Friday where they should get to .500.

26 Palmyra 5A 7-0
Palmyra spread it around with Qb Grant Hause completing 8 of 12 passes for 132 yards and 2 scores, mostly to Sean Carter who caught 6 of them for 108 yards. Caleb Hawkins gashed the Bubbler defense for 198 yards on 24 carries as the Cougars rolled to an easy 47-0 win at Boiling Springs, keeping them even with Middletown in the Mid Penn-Capital Division at 4-0. 2nd place Milton Hershey (6-1) is next, coming off a 32-21 loss at home to Middletown last week. Palmyra has no games of that caliber or wins of note while the Spartans show road wins at Annville Cleona (5-2) of the LL-3 and Susquehanna Township (5-2) of the MP-Keystone. Palmyra’s more liberal defense allowing 19ppg may catch up to them here against the Spartan’s stiffer D allowing 12ppg. Both have explosive offenses.

27 Milton Hershey 4A 6-1
Milton Hershey rose in the rankings as a result of their competitive loss to Middletown 32-21, one of the top 3A teams in the state. It was a competitive game until 4th quarter scores at the 6:47 and 1:40 mark did them in after holding a 21-20 lead. The Spartans move on in conference action to play undefeated Palmyra at their place.

28 Shippensburg 5A 6-1
Shippensburg joins the Top 30 for the first time this year following an impressive road win at previously undefeated West Perry, 34-21. They’re led by a dynamic running back in Adam Houser who has rushed for 1125 yards on 141 carries. This guy is lethal in an open field! Most people felt Ship would fold with the graduation of quarterback Carter Van Scyoc (Bloomsburg) and others, but here they are with 4 returning lineman and a sophomore Qb in Zach Manning taking over. The line has great size with Trey Lynch 5-11 265, Wyatt Craig 6-1 225, Colton Musser 6-3, 245 and Noah Foust 5-11, 235 as return starters. Wyatt’s brother Craig is the other lineman at 6-1 225 with Nick Gustafson 6-5 220 in at End. DL Colby Tracy 6-1 255 anchors the line with 2 LBs back and a safety. They have a big game this week with always competitive Northern (5-2), who at 2-1 are tied with West Perry a half game behind Ship and Mifflin Country at 3-1. Should mention Coach Eric Foust is in his 17th season at the helm.

29 Lancaster Catholic 4A 7-0
Lancaster Catholic remained undefeated with an easy 43-0 win against outmanned Octorara (2-5). Octorara came over from the ChesMont-American Conference this year where they play as a 4A in the Lancaster Lebanon Section-3 alongside a number of weaker teams, Lancaster Catholic not being among that number. LC had their way with them rushing for 348 yards with Luke Miller getting 112 yards on 4 carries for touchdowns of 79, 6 and 8 yards. Qb Gavin Sullivan completed 8 of 13 passes for 129 yards. With Coach Todd Mealy at the helm, look for the Crusaders to rejoin the top 4A teams in the district (state titles 2009, 15-1 and 2011, 16-0) in a few years knowing what he did at Penn Manor in Section 1, going 56-35 from 2007 to 2014. They are already averaging 36ppg with his forte, defense, being center stage at 9ppg. Keep your eye on Lancaster Catholic. They’re at Northern Lebanon (1-6) Friday who is allowing 40ppg against an average of 14 scored per game.

30 Delone Catholic 2A 7-0
Delone snapped a 9 year losing streak against rival Bermudian Springs (4-3. 3A), winning 17-7 in a defensive game that kept them atop the York Adams-3 in a tie with York Catholic (4-0, 7-0). They meet in two weeks in York. Talk about a defensive struggle! Neither side gave much with Delone edging the Eagles 181 to 165 in total yards. Logan Brown led the Squires with 62 yards on 12 carries. As with most defensive struggles it was decided by a turnover when Delone recovered a fumble and returned it 30 yards for the score. Bermudian Springs is always a tough out for Delone down in southern Pennsylvania with their only losses being to Delone, York Catholic 10-7 and 5A Shippensburg (6-1) 37-17. 1A Fairfield at 1-5 is next as the Squires pursue their first undefeated season since 2003.
TIE
Altoona 6A 3-4

Altoona came crashing down to Earth following the exhilaration of their 49-42 double overtime win in Carlisle two weeks ago when visiting Central Dauphin laid a 49-7 thumping on them, pounding out 484 total yards of offense. With Cumberland Valley, State College and Harrisburg left on the schedule, Carlisle could be their last win of the season. But a bright spot for them was the steady play of running back Mitchell Lawhead, rushing for 100 yards while Connor McCarthy completed 7 of 18 passes for 94 yards. Good seeing Altoona back in the Mid Penn where division action continues this week at Cumberland Valley (1-6), fresh off their first win of the season against Carlisle 35-14. How weird is that to say?

The 2019 NFL Draft

NFL Draft Analysis has begun - Mel Kiper has 0 information that is credible.

Justin Herbert 6'6,233LBs - Oregon
Strengths: Reminds me a lot of Carson Wentz in his overall athleticism and is a major reason he is being highly regarded as the best QB in the 2019 NFL Draft. He comes from a outstanding offensive scheme that is proven to build Quarterbacks to the likes of a Marcus Mariotta and at 1:04 into the Cal highlights, you will see how well he is able to push the ball downfield. He is very well coached in "looking off" the defensive backs and has highly active feet in the pocket, while using great body weight transition upon release of the football.
Weaknesses: While Herbert has been very efficient, he lacks the big numbers you will see out of many QB's in this years NFL Draft. His mobility in the pocket will benefit him heavily at the next level, but Oregon's spread attack is always prolific in the run game nationally, which does create many wide open opportunities for the Quarterback when executing play action plays.

The Fighting Irish Break Into Top Four In Top 25 Poll & More Comparisons Below

Brian Kelly has brought new and innovative training methods to the Fighting Irish and they have worked magically at winning crucial games that have shot them up all three polls. The first three games of the season were not impressive and Notre Dame looked like a decent team, as they were able to defeat the Michigan Wolverines at home. What was concerning was after the big win in South Bend, they nearly lost to (2-4) Ball State by a score of 24-16. Given both teams are in Indiana, you could consider this an in-state rivalry, so they remain a Top 25 team. At home, against Vanderbilt, The Fighting Irish were able to defeat their SEC opponent by a score of 22-17.Vanderbilt is a good team this season, but a below average to average SEC team, as they were pummeled by South Carolina by a score of 37-14 in Nashville,TN. Consensus Top 3 team the Georgia Bulldogs, were able to defeat Vanderbilt 41-13 as the Bulldogs offense begins to assert their dominance in SEC play. They were able to defeat (3-3) Wake Forest handily in Winston Salem, NC by a score of 56-27 and you started to see the framework for the 2018-2019 Fighting Irish start to form. It was then, the Irish came up against the mighty Stanford Cardinals, who are year in and year out one of the toughest opponents the Irish face. They were able to defeat genius David Shaw and shatter Bryce Love's hopes for earlyHeisman contention. Normally, I am not into over analyzing things, as second guessing is for people who are unsure of the situation, but I looked at the remaining games for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the odds are in their favor of winning throughout the rest of the season. I had them picked to win over Virginia Tech and knowing how the system is set up, I presented my case to several older football minds and they said I was right. Let's look at the remaining schedule for Notre Dame and why they should ultimately be in the BCS playoffs at the conclusion of the college football rankings.

Georgia and Clemson over Ohio State?

This came down to the eye test when examining overall play on the football field. Ohio State's players have handled the off-season drama with their coaching staff considerably well, but they simply do not show up in the first half. Most of their glamorous stats accumulated this season were done against the likes of Tulane, who if you know FBS football, spend too many nights on Bourbon Street to compete with the Best FCS teams. As you will see in the charts fromHerosports.com, while the offenses are merely 40-50 yards behind in production per game, Georgia and Clemson are crushing the Buckeyes in total defense by nearly 100 yards in total. Where I come from, Offense wins games, but Defense wins championships.
