didn't NA beat the "B team" from St. Frances?
And Norwin beat a 5A team
Central Catholic lost to a national top 10 team, i believe in the caliber of IMG?
No, the team NA beat came from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore. It's just that PCC played the SFA "national" team while NA played the "regional" team--much the same as the different teams fielded by IMG.
haha no, the "win for PR" was hardly a "big story." There was a nice Brewery for pregame- facilities were decent but the opponent was not all that impressive
After week 1; it’s simply just an awful conference. PIAA needs to figure this garbage out. Is this Norwins year?

Out of curiosity, what do they need to figure out? How to get more enrollment at the good 5A schools so they move up?
Go back to the superior 4 classifications. Enough of this watered down, repetitive, boring set up we have now. Wpial 6A is just depressing to look at

tiger- this "conference" has been weak for years. This is not new. It is not the "PIAA" that needs to "figure this out." The programs need to do better. A whole bunch of ways.
In the last 2-3 years (after Lebos year), I think only NA and PCC would have any success against other "good big schools" state-wide.
Possibly "our league" could address this, but i would not guess that other schools would be receptive. There are many many big schools in the east- cannot drastically adjust rules, for smaller populations in western PA.

at this point I was hoping they would set the all time record for most consecutive losses
NA isn’t very good this year and they played down to their opponent. Wpial 6A is really bad
Central is starting to look like a powerhouse again, Pine Richland seems to be their kryptonite every year
How so? Their best win was last year regular season vs. NA. That's about it. (St. I's last year stunk)
Having said that, it would seem that they are the odds on favorites to win the WPIAL - if Tiger think NA isn't good, they must not be!!!
they blew out Woodland Hills, I would pick them to beat any team but they are capable of losing to any of the other good teams

Mt. Lebanon going 0-10 3 years after going 15-0 would be crazy to see
Seneca has had a falloff in the 20s decade

Lebo was never a serious year to year program. They had Palko and a great senior class he developed over a few years, they were pretty mediocre for a long time before that with a few decent seasons sprinkled in. Now they are currently on their third coach in as many years. Might be another 20 years again before they are in that conversation again.
Seneca didn’t fall off, they were never even “there” to begin with imo. Besides those two Cinderella runs to the wpial championship in two years, they haven’t done much else in school history. Their “best senior class in school history” couldn’t even make the post season in watered down 6A a couple years ago. They badly need fresh blood in the coaching staff imo. They’ve pretty much gone back and fourth between Dave vestal and Ron Buschle as HC the past 20 years with a stint from Don Holl in between when his sons played. Holl had a decent thing going about a decade ago with the program, but his sons graduated and I don’t think he was popular with some parents if I remember correctly. It’s a huge district that isn’t devoid of talent, I feel like the right staff could get something going one day and actually compete with NA/PCC. Buschle is currently pretty mid and has been for a few years.
I think it’s safe to say now that PCC has declined since the 2010s. Going on 4 years since winning the WPIAL title even with 6A being in it’s most watered down state. Didn’t go more than a season without winning from 13-21. The new staff still seems to be trying to establish their identity/culture as well.
I’m with you on Lebo not really being a contender on average, it’s just funny that they had their best team in history then 3 years later almost certainly their worst
I don’t know I feel like Seneca always had a giant, physical line and they would always put up a fight. Now they’re just awful
no clue but whatever the number is, I'm sure they could've reached it if the wpial didn't schedule cupcake non conference games with teams from smaller classes
? cupcakes? the wpial schedules bad opponents for bad 6A teams- most of 6A in the last 4-5 years, can't handle any tougher. There are many things that 6A could do to get better- but imo other than NA and PCC, they dont really care. You gotta realize that the "wpial" for the most part, IS the schools. The "voting and decision making" is done by "member schools." For the most part, most HSs want the "easier route" and dont want to have to "go find opponents." If wpial 6A really wanted to, they could try harder to set their own rules and GET BETTER
