How good is Harrisburg without the qb this year?
Despite the LaSalle loss, Harrisburg is good enough to have defeated quality opponents Bishop McDevitt (5-1) 35-33 in ot and State College (6-1) 7-6. They're working on a new qb who is getting it done as he matures throwing for +800 and rushing for over 300. They have the typical sizeable and talented Mid-Penn O-Line and a pile of skill people. So you could put them at the top in 3 knowing there is real competition in CD's sister school CD East (7-0). And as always Township (7-0) and Wilson (6-1) will be right there. So, it's very difficult saying Harrisburg is the best team with such good comp in the district. Seeding to play a BIG role.
Harrisburg 6-1: well tested but have CV, CD and East High left on schedule. Not known much beyond the district that H-burg and CD East are bitter rivals, both being city schools a few miles apart. They'll have to earn it. just to get out of the Mid Penn-Commonwealth Division, always a war.
CD East 7-0: not really tested yet excepting a CV win but loaded with O skill that's veteran. Coming off rival CD win 21-20 could have taken something out of them with State, McDevitt and Harrisburg left on schedule. Phew!
Township 7-0: tested at Central York (5-1) 28-10, CV 42-14 (!) and Plymouth Whitemarsh (5-2, only losses there and Wilson) 20-18. Whitemarsh plays Upper Moreland (6-1) in two weeks to clear up the SOL-A while Township cruises the next two weeks vs Reading (2-5) and Penn Manor (1-5) before the annual collision with Wilson. Nice rebuild after losing a great Qb. But the Streaks somehow always return a core.
Wilson 6-1: Bulldogs show a win at Ply White 21-7 and a loss at Nazareth (5-2) 35-31. Soft ending til game at Township. Like Township, did a lot of rebuilding including Qb. But it's Wilson, going 185-42 under one of the best in Coach Doug Dahms.
** Those would be my top four to duke it out, coming into the postseason battered after conference wars with rivals.
