Prep or LaSalle ,these two appear about equal this coming season. Lasalle with the passing game and prep with a bit of both. Should be a great match up. I was watching the Preps playoff games and was really impressed with the toughness of RB Billups. He sure is pound for pound a beast. I was a bit surprised at his size. He doesnt appear to be more than 165 lbs.Saw this posted on X, could be a 6A state final preview.
If they can't compete with everyone in the state with the number of highly recruited athletes and the overall size they have on that roster then I'm not sure which end is up anymore. If Lasalle is on the same level as SJP, this game won’t be very close
It’s all fake recruiting in my eyes. I’m convinced college coaches just see that a player is from central and gives them an offerIf they can't compete with everyone in the state with the number of highly recruited athletes and the overall size they have on that roster then I'm not sure which end is up anymore.
On paper, it should be very competitive, with PCC having what looks to be an advantage up front (including LBs) and LSCHS having an experienced QB who's played a lot of football. It does look like PCC has a couple of QB candidates coming up. Regardless of what happens it's good for PA football to have this kind of matchup early on.this is a cool match-up, but kinda surprising lasalle agreed to play- esp if they could possibly meet in the state final.
IMO the PCC program is stronger than it was 2-3 years ago, i would be surprised if this is NOT a competitive game- kudos to PCC to finding legit "big school" teams to play 2 years in a row- this is not easy, esp in Western PA
Looks like they have a returning backup who will be a junior and a big sophomore who will be competing for the job.Unless PCC finds a QB, this game will likely tilt in Lasalle's favor. Last years senior QB did absolutely nothing vs SJP (12-32 139 yards) and whoever is the QB this year couldn't beat him out. In spite of this coaching's staff's background at P-R, development of skill players has been very much lacking both at SV and PCC. (If you want to count the kids they only had one year last year, fine, but IMO, this year is the first year of "their" kids).
Full circle, no high level passing game makes PCC just like PCC has been forever - a run dominated team that beats up on WPIAL folks and struggles against the big boys.

if you can play college football you are better than most, and his numbers were good last season tooWe’ll have to disagree on what good means.
lol- New- you are a tough crowd! We’ll have to disagree on what good means.

Walls was a good high school QB. I saw him play in person many times- and imo he made a good college decision
I would imagine with a younger new QB the PCC offense might be a little more dynamic the next couple of years
The returning backup is no longer at PCC? Kiski School?Looks like they have a returning backup who will be a junior and a big sophomore who will be competing for the job.
they were completely outmatched, that's not his faultYa, probably LOL.
I just think that a good QB needs to play at least good if not great in the biggest games.
it's not really a comparison i'm just using your rules, you said if they don't play good or great in the biggest game it means they aren't that goodMahomes comparison? Please.

and his team was favored by many to win, nobody thought Central would win
didn't Phil have less than a 100 yards passing against SJP?
i thought it was the other way around, I thought most of his yards were rushing88 rushing 4 TDs
200 passing 1 TD
5 Total TDs
….

James Halter is from Mt. Lebanon. His older brother was on the state title teamwhere are those kids from? I know Gatten lives in Peters
if I was a top prospect I would rather help my hometown school win, if Gatten is as good as advertised he could've helped Peters win WPIAL 5A last year, I would think that would be more enjoyable than helping a private school win
and then take a kid like Bradley Gompers, he was the player of the year he easily could've been the difference in Upper St. Clair winning 5A, along with being a part of back to back WPIAL 6A champions, and could've helped them possibly win the state in basketball
what do these kids get out of playing at a private school that they wouldn't get from being at top public schools with top athletic programs? on top of that the private school has no girls and you have to wear a tie every day
I can understand somebody like Shane Murray going to Central, he lived in Hazelwood or Eugene Jarvis who I think lived in East Liberty, or Damar Hamlin who lived in Mckees Rocks, but not kids that live in rich schools with top athletic programs
that's ridiculousJames Halter is from Mt. Lebanon. His older brother was on the state title team
Yeah it wouldn’t be my choicethat's ridiculous
instead of trying to build a legacy and continue a winning tradition his brother was a part of, he goes to the football factory where nobody cares about him and nobody will remember him
not to mention Mt. Lebanon is also a highly rated public school that always has top athletic programs, so what is the point? you don't want to go to school with girls? you want to wear a tie?
I actually think Peters, USC, and Lebo might be ranked 1 - 3 public schools in the entire Pittsburgh region
