This one was over early, with the Bucks outscoring UD 37-0 in the first half then letting the subs get the time in the second half. Yardage at the half was 347 - 9. Biggest difference from last week was getting McFadden more involved with some jet sweeps, including a 61 yard run that looked right out of a video game. When he gets loose no one is catching him.

Clemens and Taylor again had some big runs, and the mistakes that plagued them against GV were almost totally gone. UD couldn’t move the ball at all, especially on the ground, until the subs came in. West mixed up their coverages and should have had at least a couple of picks when jumping routes.

Much like last year’s game, where I thought that the score of 35-7 didn’t reflect the true difference between the two teams, I think UD will be fine with most of their schedule. West just got rolling and there are games, especially if you’re a young team, that the avalanche is hard to stop when an experienced team gets rolling.

Looked like West’s starting right guard was out this week, so they plugged in another undersized lineman (170 pounds?) and kept grinding away. The o-line is playing with an attitude much bigger than their physical size. Credit to Coach Gehringer for the work he does with that group every year.

Next week is Q-Town on the road, at one of the great venues / atmospheres in Eastern PA. Should be a good one.

It feels like we are going back in time seeing cb west one of the best 6A schools in the state again. Do you think woods program being down and a lot of these athletes staying in the bucks county public schools has a lot to do with their recent success? Ill continue to be rooting for west.

Not particularly no, at least not yet. Lasalle gets many more kids from West territory, last year there were at least 6 starters from West’s geographic area alone. There are still at least 3-4 starting there this year. If they could keep them all they’d be competing regularly for district titles but the reality is that even with local kids going to games and watching a very successful season like in 2019, families still chose the private route. CB South might get a little more help, they got a transfer LB from Wood this year. Maybe if they see continued success in the program and players going on to play in college, they’ll be able to hold onto more athletes.

In the long run, even 1-2 players could make a huge difference to a program like West, and having PCL schools being down will certainly help. The challenge is that you might not know who considered Wood but chose to go to a CB school. It’s much easier to see the transfers.
