Rules for "spring football" in PA

I have seen a few social media folks in the Pittsburgh Area say "we should have spring football" in PA.

I'm wondering what the means? What do other states do? Is PA football really "held back" by rules/restrictions for HS football in the spring?

I understand the value of playing other sports, but so many kids are "only playing football" anyways- I'm wondering if our kids are missing out on development, compared to other states, nationally?

Intriguing Matchups on 8/22 - 8/23 2025

Since it's the quiet time on the board... looked at some of the repeats from last year and new matchups this year. Add the games you look forward to seeing.

CB West @ Easton - should be another good one
North Penn @ Downingtown East - NP will be the odds-on favorite in the SOL
Downingtown West @ Bethlehem Freedom
Garnet Valley @ Coatesville
Neshaminy @ Emmaus - first look at Neshaminy under the new staff
PCC vs LaSalle - D1 talent all over the field for both teams, can LaSalle balance out their passing attack with a run game?
Northampton @ Pennsbury - Koncrete Kids venture south to what's now a very nice facility at Pennsbury HS
Archbishop Wood @ CB South - just to see if Wood was able to attract enough talent to be competitive

D1 vs D11 continues to be very good for high school football in eastern PA, hopefully it continues for many years to come.
