The Portal

I think the sport will survive with serious team loyalty from boosters/alums like those at Tex AM who paid Jimbo Fisher's 50-70 mil buy-out, TV contracts and just the love of the game. The general public including alums root for the team, not the player. It's just a jersey out there with me rooting essentially for the name on the front, not the back. I don't care where the Qb comes from. But we all want "our" team to win, whoever is wearing the uniform.

NA, I'm just the opposite. I don't think there's a better game than college football.
What's your favorite college team? Does it really make no difference if half the guys who start next year are transfers from other places, including some who played on the main rival's team last year? Maybe I'm the odd man out on this one.

Usually the highest paid state employee of any state is a coach, basketball or football, at the state university.

Aliquippa titles in football and basketball

I’m not sure why they’re complaining, imo they’d probably win 5a aswell
imo, this is not really complaining- it's just a stall tactic- im sure they are not scared of playing 5A- but 6- yea that's a whole different beast- if the rules dont change, they win 5A pa state title this yr or next, they could go to 6 in 2 yrs

The Portal

Let's see if the interest in college football is as high in 2-3 years. So far most people are just getting used to the way the portal works and the effects of NIL. I'm an older guy who understood a long time ago the business side of college football, but I also held on to the idea that teams and players, to different degrees, had a real connection to the the schools they played for. Maybe younger people won't care so much when the connections become much thinner, but I think lots of fans really will mind when half the starters on their favorite team played for another school the year before. I guess we'll find out how many people really do root just for the jersey.
idk, i really think CFB is only gonna keep getting bigger and bigger

Best teams that didn’t win the WPIAL championship?

i don't know wasn't there that weird thing with a field goal Wood kicked in that game, and the referees claimed they couldn't see where the ball went?

I think if they replayed that game at the end of the season Wood would mercy rule them, one of the few years I can recall where most people in the state thought the 3A champ was the best

Central was nationally ranked but wasn't overly impressive that season, maybe they could've won the wpial or state with a few breaks but I never thought they were an amazing team

2021 they got mercy ruled in the final, i can't think of them as one of the best to not win, I think the 2019 Central team is underrated

Why do you think Archbishop Wood would mercy rule PCC?

Absolutely Paul. And the crybaby Sabans of the world making their millions bitch the loudest. He can pound sand with his fraudulent outrage and concern for the athlete and sport.
The sanctimonious SOB doesn't see HE's a big part of the problem making how many millions....repeat....millions a year? Things were good at the Plantation for good ole Nick before this!

The Portal

The Portal along with the NIL have ruined college sports!! What happened at the end of the football season with teams losing half their players is just the beginning. The NCAA as an organization did not adapt to the changing landscape when TV got involved in the 80s. TV money flying around to all the programs. And the athletes had a right to be pissed. So you invent the NIL with no rules or guidelines. A gymnast from LSU and a quaterback who hasn't thrown a ball yet are leading the money race. I'm wondering what the Portal will look like at the end of March Madness. Very busy I would think!

How did the high school football season go overall?
“We had a great season. Our Head Coach Scepanski was in his second year at Conestoga Valley, and we had a brand new Offensive Coordinator Coach Manion. Coach Manion brought with him a new playbook, and the team worked hard all off season. We finished 8-2 on the season. Took second place in the Lancaster-Lebanon league section two. Made the district playoffs for the first time since 2010, and finished 9-3 overall.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?

SJP Coaches

I’d be surprised if either coordinator left at this point. My guess is circumstances may have changed for some position (or even assistant position) coaches. I heard Marvin Harrison’s younger brother will be a frosh this year. Is that true?
Just saw this announcement about Sacca: https://www.easternpafootball.com/s...a-chooses-notre-dame-as-his-next-destination/

Two other bits of interesting information: Bonner-Prendie and O'Hara moving up means six rather than four league games and so fewer games against schools from outside the area. Also SJP opens against St. Edward's in Ohio. Big test for a new QB and an offensive line with four of six starting for the first time.

Aliquippa titles in football and basketball

it definitely seemed like sour grapes as Phil showed at Pitt

though in his defense Walker wasn't overly impressive in that game and it was frustrating to watch him run out the clock, never would've thought he would be a lottery pick, didn't the Jackson twins at Allderdice have their way with him the state semis the year before?
Reading's coach decided to sit Walker in the corner for virtually the entire game to combat Dice's 1-3-1 defense. I bet hevhad under 10 attempts that game. Perez was not very good in big games early on hid career.
