Saw an announcement on Twitter that they have a LB transfer coming in from Allen, TX. Looks like he'll be a sophomore. Add him to the number of young players already receiving D1 offers and they are stockpiling a heap of talent.

....and we wonder why District 1 hasn't won a state title in 18 years.

Do we actually know he is transferring for football reasons?

@tulla I believe he is transferring because he is moving to Philadelphia. Nothing else to it. Roman doesn’t have the reach to have kids move in, just got lucky with what looks like a good player.

They are headed into year 3, and the talent is coming in. Good to see the PCL will be more competitive across the board. IMO RC still a year away.

The Prep ,Wood ,LaSalle and Roman should all be very solid this year and next. This may be the best talent in the PCL in awhile. Also,Neuman/Goretti has a ton of D-1 players. Imhotep and Northeast will be tough to beat .

I like CB West QB Ganz Cooper ,brother of Jake Cooper of Archbishop Wood / Penn State LB. He will be a Sophomore this year after starting as a Freshman. he throws a nice ball and is a gutsy runner.
Is that the order they'll play teams? If so, too bad with DeMatha at the end with both possibly involved in playoffs. Stags have a soph Qb they're high on. We used to follow MD/DC FB-Hoops with Hyattsville just outside DC. Good luck to Roman.

He'll be an interesting player to watch this year, appears to be much bigger and stronger as you'd expect. Played very well in the last two games vs East and South to end a shortened freshman year.

West will be very good this year. Any word on how East and South should be ? East had a soph QB that started last year and looked good.

I believe that is the order. Seen the Dematha Qb transferred but they are still extremely good.
Thanks, went back to Smyrna. Friend lives there says it's good football. But what would he know coming from Williamsport! Ha. That was for him.
Thanks Concretechuck, They've gone 40-12 the last 5 with a graduating Qb. Sure rather see two fine and proud programs like Roman and DeMatha play early or mid.

Wilson. About CB East and South....this is research done after the season entitled "2020 Review-2021 Preview on p.2; a decent base to start from with any fresh info.

Central Bucks South 2-5 6A
Since the Titans last special team in 2012 that went 10-2, they’ve been a .500 team at 43-39, compiling a 90-78 record since opening in 2004. Like North Penn, they’ve found their success typically with a big offense that was rarely supported by a good defense. The years they’ve had decent defense, 2016, 2017 and 2018, allowing 15, 17 and 19ppg, they’ve had weak offenses averaging 21, 19 and 18ppg in corresponding years. For 2021 it looks like a big rebuild with quarterback Carter Hallgren (1675, 61%, 13/2) graduating plus their #1 rusher Jason Christensen, #1 receiver TE Ryan Schaub, 38/550, (Hallgren, Schaub 1st teamers) and lineman Aaron Collachi (6-4, 275) and Tommy Wood (6-0, 255). The D losses quality from front to rear in LB Owen Petrich (6-2, 220), DLs Collachi and Preston Jones (5-9, 215) and Chris Moore from the secondary. A bright spot is the return of diminutive Tommy Donnelley (5-7, 170), a sophomore who caught 25 passes for 362 yards and 5 scores.
Central Bucks East 1-5 6A
Like CB West and South, CB East had one of their worst seasons in many years. The defense that allowed 37ppg was their worst year ending average in over 22 years. This was a theme with the three Central Bucks teams. South allowed an all-time high of 39ppg while West allowed 30ppg, their worst since 2008’s 3-7 team that allowed 31. East’s season fell apart after beating Pennsbury in the opener when they lost 1st Team all SOL Continental “Honors” quarterback Anthony Giordano with a shoulder against CB South game-2 while playing safety. Sophomore Patrick Keller (6-4, 180) stepped in, completing 49% for 441 yards. Good luck starting sophomore quarterbacks in power conferences like the National, Mid Penn-Commonwealth and others. Other sophomores made their mark in the backfield in Ethan Shine (80/320), Tommy Day (19/142) and D.P. Kelly (17/69). The D returns 5. But you’ve got to wonder about a team that returned 8 starters to offense and 7 to defense in 2020 and went 1-5, allowing a record 37ppg!

CB West looks like the best of the three imo and they have a fairly young squad. Coach Rowan is making solid progress with the over all program to date.

South has replaced their DC, after ending last year giving up large rushing numbers to West and Neshaminy. (A game which they only agreed to play after East backed out, and instead played Conwell-Egan.) East seems to go into every year with great optimism, a fair amount of talent, only to see the season slip away. They'll bring back Moody at receiver and add the HC's son, who looks to be a solid prospect as a rising sophomore. Not sure any of the returning backs will scare anyone in the SOL National. QB is big and talented but will they pull together a run game and defense to go along with the passing attack?

South has apparently lost a returning safety to an acl who was expected to compete for the HB job. Not sure they have anyone coming up that will give them a big threat back there... they've got two potential QBs who should battle it out. I don't expect South to not win games because of a lack of a passing attack, much like East the questions will be on D and in the backfield.

What’s the word on North Penn? Top running back and qb and line that is big. Can they get a D together to stop anyone? Might just out score everyone. Ha

Word is that they are loaded offensively with good depth there. Prohibitive favorite in the SOL with lots of teams re-loading this year. (2020 would have provided some great games in the SOL National if they had a full season.)They're going to mercy rule some teams if they can play any sort of D. Last year they couldn't defend the run vs Neshaminy or West. On paper, this is their best shot at the District in years.

bucksftball....this is also from the Review 2020-Preview 2021 you may not have seen; a short study on all the teams in D1 at the end of last season.

North Penn 4-1 6A
The Knights missed the playoffs for the first time since 2012 largely as a result of being handled in the opener at Neshaminy 35-19, ending with the 6th seed. Once again, defense was their Achilles Heel allowing 22ppg. Too bad as the offense was their best ever at 44ppg! But they finished strong (4-0) with Coach Beck getting his 200th career win playing CB East. They’ll enter 2021 with a boatload of skill beginning with quarterback Ryan Zeltt (6-3, 185, so) who has played since game two of 2019 when senior Kolby Barrow went down. He and running back Khalani Eaton (5-11, 210, jr, 1038ry, 14 Tds) with receivers Jalen Edwards, Levi Carroll and a solid kicker in Grace Macnamara are back with three gone from the line, rebuilding around tackle Darren Miller (6-1, 300, jr, 1st Team). With so many National teams rebuilding, the Knights will be favored to win the conference and challenge for district honors and more….if….they show just modest improvement on defense, knowing the offense should again be explosive, perhaps unstoppable.

Pennridge picked for last in 2020. I don't think that will happen again this year. A tough out for any team.

Seriously? Who picked them for last with that veteran team? I'd stop reading that column for sure!

North Penn and Pennridge could both be undefeated when they meet 9/24.
2021 Rams will be bigger but underclassmen have to replace a 2020 stellar senior class.
Plenty of talent to work with.

Both sure have a favorable schedule that could provide for a hot start.
North Penn: Open with 5 of 6 at home!, tho Souderton with a decent returning group could wreck it all. Game 2 has Abington in with a returning Qb, PSB next, then game 4 is a really good Upper Dublin team back almost intact before the Pennridge game. A few pitfalls for sure.
Pennridge: Ditto on favorable schedule, actually more favorable with 4 straight homers; Downingtown East, PSB, Neshy, CR North before NP. D-East is a tough opener, with a returning QB and skill people. They'll come in pumped off a rare losing season with the team that lost to Coatesville 20-14 and beat DWest 21-7.

I heard that a Souderton QB transfered to SJP and a running back transfered to a city school. Saw them at a 7on7 tourney and they looked small. But then again Gallagher always puts a competitive team on the field. They scrimmage Pennridge so that will give an indication real quick on how tough Pennridge and Souderton will be.

The thing this year with West is that while they are still very young, with the talented 2023 class being only Juniors plus the Sophomore QB, they have a high quality senior group with a lot of experience. Mancini, Goldrick, Whalen, Smith, Cimino, Lare, Naso, Newman, McGuire, etc... they went undefeated as freshmen and a few of them will now be 3 year starters. It's a very good mix and there are also some other talented sophs that could contribute this year.

Do you see them as being in the mix to win District 1? I think Coatesville will tell us a lot about their chances of making a deep playoff run.

Premature to put them in that class, but yes, that Coatesville game will be a very good barometer. (Even the scrimmage against an extremely talented Roman Catholic team should be telling)

Coatesville is also a young team. Plus they're rebuilding the lines and shouldn't be thought of as a done-deal juggernaut. Dtown East and West will also have fine teams making the Ches-Mont in my view a 3 team race. West will also be a good barometer for Coatesville....!....especially up there as will Perk Val and York High the following weeks for the Raiders.
Perk Val is loaded for a run at the PAC and Spg-Fd and the Bearcats bring almost everyone back to battle Central York and Red Lion in the York-Adams.

I think CBWest opens up with 5 straight home games. They could be undefeated heading into the Pennridge game. The SOL is looking very interesting this year!

I think they play at CR South so 4 out of first 5 but still, very favorable schedule to start the year.

Gotta get through Coatsville early which always favors talent and athletes early in before systems like they run get well greased. NPenn looks to have considerably more too. West is not the favorite and I expect a few losses.

I don't think anyone has West as a favorite for anything this year. A few losses would be a good season. I think that behind North Penn, there may be a lot of teams beating up on each other in the SOL and you could end up with NP winning the league undefeated and then a pack of teams with 2-3 league losses.

I don't think North Penn is a given. The Neshaminy loss proved that last year. Unless one thinks that Neshaminy had an exceptionally great team. The team I'm most curious about is Pennridge. Were they a one hit wonder? I'm leaning toward no.
