Team Maryland 2015 Roster, Big 33 Classic. [/B]

Here is Maryland's roster cobbled together from newspapers, conference, school sites, etc….showing position, size, high school, W/L, stats and where headed if known. Team Maryland had their first on-field try outs January 25th at the Baltimore Ravens Performance Center http://www.baltimoreravens.com/team/ua-performance-center.html where 84 players were invited. This followed many months of scouting and reviewing by coaches headed by last year's "Classic" head coach Brian Van Dusen, who is this year's Selection Committee Chair. The following listings are the result of that process. As a reference point for some of the players, here are the 4 classification winners last year, largest to smallest.

4A Northwest 14-2 beat Old Mill 11-5, 34-31

3A Franklin 13-1 beat Damascus 14-1, 35-21

2A Douglas-PG 14-0 beat Dunbar 10-4, 38-0

1A Fort Hill 15-0 beat Douglass-Balt 12-2, 40-8

(Douglas PG is Prince George County other is Douglass Baltimore)

A 5' 9" 215 lb. player CAN go to Millersville AND still be one of the best high school players in the state of Maryland. Get your head out of your butt Fletch.

IUP kid listed too? Big 33 is usually reserved for the best of the best. I'm a PSAC guy (excellent football with a lot of great players), but it really surprises me that Maryland's roster includes D2 kids.

The scrubs did good last year, bolting out to a 24-0 lead before PA came back losing in double-ot 31-28.

Let's be honest, the Big 33 game has a tough sell these days and has lost its luster. Are you guys really into this game? They move it up to June, replace Ohio with a MD team with kids going to D2 and FCS schools. We don't even have our best players (Whitehead, Reid and Bates to name a few). I'd rather have us play NJ and face the likes of Fitzpatrick, Wimbush, Johnson, etc, although they probably wouldn't play either.

Unless Stalker mentioned it, I had no recollection of what the score was last year.

Not into it at all Relayer. Just laying out information some of the guys might be interested in.

Appreciate the info, but wasn't directing that to you Stalk. Just throwing out a general observation about the game. Even the local county all-star games have gone downhill. I found out about the Bucks game after it was played. Hell, last year the Montco game wasn't even played because no one would sponsor it.

Oh I know Relayer. I think the downward spiral began when Ohio changed format, having two All Star events with PA getting the lesser, with the top talent playing in a North-South or other format, much like our East -West set up of some years ago.

Actually I do have a interest that probably caught my eye as we used to play some northern Maryland teams like Westminster, Walkerville and the Hagerstown schools; still do in hoops.

Seems football in general is on a slow decline. Even in FL where half the family lives the crowds are way down for state finals games. Guess if you can't pull them in for a state final you sure can't do it for an All Star game either.

Looking at the rosters, lools like hig advantage for PA. That said, I have been at PSAC Games for the last 4 years. WCU, Bloom, Cal of Pa, the Rock...those kids could compete mich higher

At WCU... Shabazz, DB, was invited to MFL combine,2 LBs also legit. Keep in mind PSAC is awesome football. WCU LB coach is Dan Connor, PSU all american and Bedneriak winner and Panthers Cowboys and Giants in the league Rondell and Labor are legit as graduating LBs. Look at Bloom and the guys cal sends to to league FA
PSAC is no joke, Best D2 conf out there.

Hajj was invited to the combine?

Ronell and Labor were good to great players, but WCU struggled to stop the run in recent big games - L-R in 2013 playoffs and Bloom in 2014 regular season for PSAC East. Can't be elite giving up rushing yards like that.

Yes, Connor was one of the best ever high players from PA, a great college player, and a good NFL player. Not sure what that has to do with 2 PSAC kids on Maryland's Big 33 roster?

PSAC is great football, but is far from the best D2 conference. SR1 continues to get trounced in national semi-finals and a PSAC team doesn't always make it that far in the region.

I was a PSAC guy, a WCU guy, but no way was I ever getting a sniff of the Big 33. That was reserved for D1 and undersized kids that were D1-AA.

Hajj was there for DBs on Monday, standby guy, guess if one of the guys didnt do the on the field. As for WCU and PSAC, was just being real positive about PA and our guys here. No doubt SR1 is super tough. I was at the L-R game. Old school mudbowl. Players will be different but L-R is coming up for WCUs home opener in 2015. Should be great!

That is great that Hajj was at least there. Hopefully he had a chance to talk with some of the coaches.

I think you misunderstood me; SR1 is overmatched when they get to the national semis. A PSAC team hasn't made the final since 2000 when Bloom got overpowered by Delta State. In my opinion, the PSAC is diminished by all of the stout D1-AA teams in the region.

On the other hand, WCU was in that L-R game until that roughing the punter call. I'm not sure how that punter wasn't ruled down in that situation. His knee was down as he was bobbling the snap - isn't he down? Still not sure what Zwaan challenged there? I hope WCU does a better job hitting the QB this time around. The ironic thing is that WCU might run a little more option now that Derr will most likely become the full-time starter.
