New Football Classifications

Looking at current enrollment numbers Plymouth Whitemarsh and Owen J Roberts could potentially slide to 5A.

Lower Merion has a possibility of going up to 6A.

No one else seems close in terms of enrollment “currently” to those cut offs.

New, does that imply/demand a reconfiguration of conferences? Nice if it creates rather than diminishes potential for inter-district games. Wondering if 6A goes with a single 9 team conference or 2 divisions, throwing in a few (3) of the larger/better 5A teams for 2, 6 team divisions.

** Mid Penn is making adjustments....with Lancaster-Lebanon League (Township, Wilson Man Cent, etc) making major realignments for '20.

I don't know. I would imagine it would stay the way it is - 1 6A conference. Maybe 2 5A of 9 teams each, which also works out well. Rumors are that the 5A teams want to be by themselves - and don't want to play NA, PCC or PR.

Look for a possible issue in the Central League with Lower Merion being forced into the big school division. When the league went to the big school/small school format several cycles ago, Springfield, a small school, agreed to play up in the big school division in order to balance out the 2 divisions. But that was just a temporary solution coupled with the fact that, at the time, Springfield had a lot of talent and was able to compete, even win, some titles. But Springfield wants to go back to small school, and LM has reportedly said it would not move up to the big school division. There are certain schools that want both LM and Harrition out completely, so it might be interesting to see how this one plays out.

Lower Merion and Harriton being a pain in the @$$... go figure! Can you say PAC - 14 or maybe Bicentennial bound!
