Cancelled Bowl games....?

Reading conflicting info saying a few players are "affected", have "symptoms" with others stating they have "concerns." This cancelled the Fenway Bowl of UVA vs SMU, Hawaii Bowl of Hawi vs E.Caro and Rutgers replacing TexAM (backed out) to play Wake. Seems drastic to panicky by what most accounts are calling a cold to a severe cold.

Check out BBC's view on omicron below. My view only here........that they are one of the few news sources not overwhelmingly politicized.

Personally, I hope they conjure up a pill to just give me the damned thing and be done with it; enhanced immunity, etc.

Q&A with Southern Huntingdon County quarterback Nate Myers

How did the high school football season go overall?
“I had a lot of personal success and was able to break some school records, however losing in the first round of playoffs hurt because I know we were a better team than that.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I currently play basketball and will play baseball in the spring. I lift after practices and on weekends.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“We’ll be returning more experienced players, especially on the line, I think that’ll be a big advantage for us as we compete to win a district title.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Bellwood-Antis is usually the toughest team in the conference, I enjoy the challenge of facing off against them.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“I think one of the best players in the conference is Dan McGarry from Curwensville, last year was their first year in our conference so I didn’t know much about them, but McGarry is a really good QB and I feel that we are the best two QBs in the conference.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes I want to play football.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Millersville and Mercyhurst.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“Millersville.”

Q&A with Lakeland wide receiver Kevin Snyder

“I have not seen our schedule yet. Every year it always comes down to Dunmore. We've turned the tide in the rivalry, but it is always our best game every year.”

Q&A with Plum defensive end Kade Thomas

How did the high school football season go overall?
“We had to replace a lot of seniors that left last year so I'm definitely not unhappy with how the season went. Making the playoffs is always a win in my eyes since there haven’t been many Plum teams to do so.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Workouts I try to hit the gym anywhere between 4-6 times a week and I've been focusing a lot on powerlifting and my explosive power so I can finish more tackles and have a quicker burst of speed.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I'm excited to see what we’re capable of next year. We have a lot of Juniors coming into their second season and a couple seniors coming into their second season starting so once we start hitting it hard over the next few months I know we’ll be a team on everyone’s radar.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Highlands is always a tough game because I know those guys play hard and play violently. They always come at me with 100% so it’s always fun when you’re competing like that at that level.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Cadin Olsen will probably give us the most difficulty, he’s a giant for a quarterback so he’s a little tough to take down sometimes, and good speed for his size.”

SJP - Garnet Valley

Well, let the chatter begin. I think this has a chance to be a classic. Similar to a lot of other GV games, I think we see a lot of points. I know SJP doesn’t have the “high-flying” offense of yesteryear, but I think they have the superior athletes to GV. Does anyone know the last time SJP has seen an offense like GV schematically? I’m not sure a single player on their roster has seen an offense like that, and we know it’s very difficult to simulate in practice. For those reasons (on top of GV being excellent), I think GV will put up some points. I’ll take GV in an upset, 42-38 Jags.

Realignment and success formula

I'm a supporter of the success formula. I think that's the reason we saw such competitive games last weekend. It'll be interesting next season with teams moving. I heard central valley is going up to 4A and woodland hills is dropping down to 3A. Wood could be dropping back down to 5A and Erie prep moving to 6A. Aliquippa is a single A team that could be forced up to 5A which is crazy. There's definitely some kinks that need to be worked out. Aliquippa has 200 some students that could be playing 5A yet southern Columbia has 400+ and plays 2A. I heard they are working out a loop hole which southern Columbia takes advantage of by not counting votech students. It'll be interesting with the realignment to see where some of these schools fall next season.
