Looks like there is a little movement within state to go back to 4 classes. And even if the PIAA doesn't, this article says the WPIAL may go 4 classes internally and use a points based system for teams to get into the PIAA (6 class) playoffs.

Very interesting. Upside - everyone at Heinz Field, less travel, more rivalries maintained. Downside, PIAA playoff teams could conceivably have multiple bye weeks if they would lose early in the WPIAL (4 class) playoffs and the whole size-mismatch. Also, wonder how the different entry points into the PIAA playoffs would be handled.

I also really wonder why the suburban Philly schools would want to go back to 4 classes - unless its coupled by boundary/non-boundary separation?

However many classes they use they need to stop being so inclusive unless you like blow-out after blow-out that aren't only often, they're prevalent.
