What has happened here

on this site Disgusting
Sammy,

Not sure if you're disgusted by the general inactivity of the board or by the nonsense that gets posted that has nothing to do with high school football. But a few comments:

  • The lack of any moderator has degraded the board. It wouldn't take much to clear the garbage, e.g. the post about Boris Johnson.
  • Of course the virus has changed what everyone is thinking about. The Eastern PA site has also been almost entirely inactive for over a month. Maybe it's different in NC, but I'm thinking there's a 50-50 chance at best of a season in the fall. (There's a better chance if certain people don't try to remove the restrictions prematurely.) Also, I saw yesterday that lots of colleges are skeptical about games in the fall. I know crowds at high school games are easier to spread out, but it's hard to see school districts saying to parents that 15-year olds should be playing a sport that has less social distancing than any other when colleges are saying they are not fielding teams to keep people, including players, safe.
  • I've enjoyed this board but it seems boards like this are being superseded by other types of social media.
  • By almost any measure there's less interest generally in HS football in PA than there was at any time in my living memory.
  • Still, I'd love it if at least the guys who posted last year are back to posting about football in a few months.

I hope so too, this has been an extremely odd off season. I wonder how many players will be able to play as opposed gonna be to take on a part time job if their parent(s) have lost jobs and are facing evictions / foreclosure and even eating a decent meal! For those a bit better off, will they be able to afford their portion of the tuition if in a private school?
Trying to keep positive!
