just a bit of football info-The Collegiate Development Football League Has announced the Match-ups for its Inaugural season. The games will be live broadcast on the internet at UStream and live television via Verizon Fios public access channel 32 beginning at 5 pm on Sunday 8/2/09
Games for Sunday August 2, 2009 - Playoffs
5 pm- Westchester Nighthawks (4 seed) visiting sideline vs BergenBears (1seed) home sideline
7 pm Rockland Rattlers (3 seed) visiting sideline vs Orange Spirit (2 seed) home sideline
The 5 pm game will feature the top seeded Bergen Bears, undefeated in the regular season, vs the resurgent and healthy Westchestwer Nighthawks. The Bears enter the game as the league’s top rushing offense behind the talents of Marcus Davus, Mike Fernandez, Tyreell Burnett, Reubeen Kearse, Leo Cardenas, and Steve Washingtom. The top notch Offensive and Defensive lines are anchored by Mikhail Benscome and Ricky Javier. The Bears have the X factor in” Mr Explosive”, CDFL special teams king Terrel Burnett who has 3 TD on Special team play in each of his last 3 Games . The Bears secondary is tough to throw against with Rasheen Glashin, Trent Small. David Washington, and trusty Bryant Illenberg at Safety. The lock down linebackers of the Bears are led by James Woodard in the middle and Mike Bruner at OLB
The Nighthawks are led by the strong passing arm of QB Anthony Carillo who has a legue leading receiver corp consisting of Willie Calhoun, Malcom Lee, Sean Griffen, and LaRon Davenport. Defensively the Night hawks will be at 100 percent for the first time all season with the return from injury of Kyle Capabianco , Eric Fields and Scott Quintero. Andre Troncoso wil be expected to continue his excellant defensive play in the Linebacker slot, along with defensive general , Brandon Davis directing the coverages from his safety position. Line play for the nighthawks will focus on the ever consistent anchor; Luis Del Gado. The Nighthawks lost to the Bears in the regular season week 2, 13-0

The 7 pm game matches the the 2 seed Orange Spirit vs the 3 seeded Rockland Rattlers in a rematch of a CDFL week 2 game won by the Spirit 12-6. The Rattlers are coming off a huge offensive explosion in the final regular season game in which they scored 26 points. The Rattlers are guided by leadership of QB Colin Doyle. Doyle and the Rattlers have a diverse group of big strike playmakers in: Lynell Snuggs, Chris Kears, Jarid Valenti, Jon Coppage, Anthony Turner, Robbins Mondesir, David Telesco, and Curtis Walker.
The Spirit enter the game with a quick strike, lightning Offense. Anchored by QB Ty Landrum who can make you miss, and is a dual threat both passing and running. His weapons of choice are Bob Mangano, James Heredia, JP FOx,Paul Andrikach, Jordan Polite, Hugo Pasato, and Jermaine Thomas. On the defense for the Spirit, is top- notch linebacker Anthony Vecchione who is surrounded with cast of CDFl game proven defender; Frank Howell, Jermaine Thomas, Lamont Brown, Ed Ruiz, Mike Terry, Malcom Terry, Jeff Lora, Cliff Assad, and big time DL Brandon Hayward. You can expect to see two-way action from players: Bob Mangano,Ty Landrum and James Herida for the Spirit throughout the game.
The kicking match-up in this game is classic with 2 heavy , powerful hitters sending the ball flying !! Either one could punch home the game winner from 50+ yards. Niko Rechul of the Spirit and Lawrence Coe of the Rattlers.
The Orange spirit offense is multi talented as well and key match-ups will be critical in how the Spirit handle Rattler linebackers CJ DeSomma, Mike Gray and Herbie Mann and Jarid Valenti. DL, George Valdez , Larry Cabara, Matt Patterson will be factors to contend with up front. The secondary consists of a seasoned well disciplined corp with Patrice DeSire, Rashawn Rawles , Jordan Bond, and ringleader Anthony Turner .
