Looks like a great race with all the major players having strengths, weaknesses and question marks so here’s a fast rundown on what appear to be the leaders.
Perk Val; Probably has the most firepower returning with backfield intact and return of last year’s super sophs Qb Sturm’s 55% 1661ydg, RBs Williams & Ronnie Arch and WR Jaworski 586, but they’re rebuilding the lines. Schedule wise they’re at a disadvantage with all the big games on the road, Pottsgrove and SpgFord, even CR North in the opener. But they were real close last year beating SF 20-7, Pgrove 49-21 and Meth 22-19, losing on a last second FG to DtEast in 1st rd. The D is a rebuild too.
Spring Ford; The Rams like Perk Val are rebuilding their lines making that the priority concern for both entering the season. Also need a Qb but this is a Brubaker strong point, developing Qbs. Two good Rbs return at 1300+ yds tot with depth at WR and Stone Scarcelle (6-2, 180, jr) the projected Qb. D has 8 back. Schedule is best in PAC with Pgrove, Perk Val even State High coming to them.
Pottsgrove; Looking to replace an under rated QB in Torrin Verdone (61%, 1403py, 431ry) and a for All Pac RB Devon Fink 1182 and WR Fowler 945ydg. Almost everyone else returns to the offense and defense but with key grads in OL/DT Patrick Finn (6-4, 265, 1st Team PAC, Bucknell) and CB (WR) Mike Fowler (1st Team PAC). So while a lot of bodies return they lost key personnel.
Boyertown; Spoiler and could really be exciting if not a year away. Have some big boys up front to make it interesting.
All three will give us a good look in their openers with Perk Val at CR-N, SFord home to State, Pottsgrove at Ben Franklin, but I think SF has the most coming back knowing Coach Brubaker’s penchant for developing Qbs, two good backs and last year’s big kid 6-2, 180 Stone Scarcelle at Qb. A lot of the defense back and a tremendous schedule advantage makes it at least a lean to the Rams. Regular season ending game with Perk Val at SFord is perfect! Rams!
Chesmont....what do you think of the PAC this year? Also, there are probably a number of guys on the board who have more insight than I do.
