I don't see Buford on the schedule? STA, Erasmus Hall of Brooklyn (?), St Pete and Zaga are there with 9/16 slot open. Is that official, it's off? I know they were on earlier.

Yes, the Buford game has been off for at least a couple of months--don't know the reason. The Erasmus game is going to be at Franklin Field. Today SJP scrimmaged St. John's of DC at Salesianum. St. John's had a scrimmage two weeks ago; they obviously must start practices in July.

Thank you and that's too bad. Would have been a monster game.

St Joe's may have their toughest schedule yet. If they could run the table they'll have an argument for the #1 spot in the country. Week 1 will be their toughest test. I'm not a big fan of St Joe's prep because of their advantages but I will be pulling for them against the out of state competition and representing Pa.

Away games against St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Peter's Prep, and Gonzaga (which should be a fair bit better than they were last year) will certainly be a big test. I'll be surprised--and very happy--if they win all three.

That's a murderous row. IMO St Joe's has the talent to hang with all those teams this year.

Not sure if it matters much but word is SJP dominated #18 ST John’s last wk. In their scrimmage. Defense was stout and offense showed promised.
This from a Dematha guy so it may be some bias there.

Don't forget Erasmus Hall, a storied program from Brooklyn. Will miss Buford but this is a good replacement. They look legit winning titles forever but wonder how they'll travel facing a steady diet of teams from the Bronx, Staten Island and of course Brooklyn.

Prep's offence looked very strong against St John's, defense as well too many penalties all around but, it's early

Really interesting to see the penalty situation on Saturday against STA. For sure you expect more penalties in these very early games, but there are also differences in how penalties are called in different regions of the country. I'm not suggesting bias, just differences.

I've heard SJP was scheduled to play a game at Notre Dame. Do you know why that was called off?

Maybe there was some talk of a game there, but I've never heard anything about it. SJP has never made more than one big trip--one that involves flying--a year.

Heads up for the SJP crowd; Cautionary note after scrimmage.

St, John's 11-0 team last year was special and most of it graduated, QB, RB, 2 of top 3 receivers. And although they are a fine program, they aren't on 'auto reload' like St. Thomas Aquinas and a few others, going in reverse order from 11-0, 3-2, 7-5, 9-1 and 9-2 in 2017. Last year's D was record setting at7ppg....in the Wash Cath League!
Still, the Washington Post has them #1 in the DC area (Va-Md) with 15 D1 players still on the roster. The Post's Top 10 follows.

1 SJC-DC
2 Good Counsel (OLGC)-Md
3 DeMatha-Md
4 Stone Bridge-Va
5 Quince Orchard-Md
6 Archbishop Spalding-Md
7 Rock Creek Christian=Md
8 Gonzaga-DC
9 Wise-Md
10 C.H. Flowers-Md

A few interesting openers:
SJC at Chaminade Madonna-FL, only team to beat Buford last year
OLGC home vs St. Joseph Regional-NJ
DeMatha at Cardinal Gibbon-FL (Lauderdale) 4A champ
AB Spalding at Don Bosco Prep
Rock Creek at Dillard-FL
Zaga home to Archbishop Carroll (13-1, #11 Post)
