This has been coming for 3 years. There was an on-going battle between the coaching staff and the administration regarding getting kids in and upgrading facilities. Joe is a good coach and will bounce back in a place that puts a priority on winning.

Considering he didn't have a losing record against any catholic league opponent including Malvern other then the Prep and Lasalle Id say your statements are way off base. It's a St Joe Prep world and everybody is just living in it these days. Including Lasalle. Nobody can match them financially in how they fund their program. They have good coaches but let's get real, when you have the best players, you win in high school. How do you get those players? You have to help them financially with education. The coaching staff at Roman knew they had to get to that level to even compete with them. The administration at roman wasn't willing to go to those measures. Hence there is friction

Administration at Roman, or any other traditional Catholic, can't help financially. Prep and LaSalle are private schools that play by a different set of rules when it comes to financial help. I'm not knocking them for it, and I don't care either way about advantages. That's life, some people have advantages and some don't, suck it up. Do we know he got fired, or did he step away? I heard he had a baby like a year ago, any chance this was McCourts choice? Do they go back to Murphy? He was removed because of recruiting. Everybody recruits now, so that shouldn't be an issue. Do they try to make a big splash and give the job to Harrison for the recruiting shock factor? Should be an interesting few weeks.

Obviously IAdelco is not a man of conviction since he erased both of his messages. Don't know anything about the situation at Roman but it seems like McCourt did a good job with what he had. I will say this---- saw him play a couple times in high school & once in college and he was a BALLPLAYER

Murphy was removed for recruiting? Not saying I'm privy to all Roman information, but I never heard that. I thought he just stepped away for normal personal reasons. Like he got married or something like that.

Marvin Harrison as coach ????!!!! The guy does not have the common sense to leave the street/thug life behind even though he is wealthy. Would you want a man like that coaching young adults?????? Loved him as a player but.........

Although nothing I recently posted was inaccurate or incorrect, I do acknowledge that the man just lost his job. It was something he loved and it was his alma mater and I do not wish that on anyone. For that, I am truly sorry so I pulled my posts. As for you Chulupa or whatever Mexican dessert you call yourself, I have plenty of conviction. As a matter of fact, why don't you post your phone number and I'll give you a call. You can set up the time and the place and I will share plenty of my conviction with you. Now keep my name out of your mouth! You should spend your time more wisely by petitioning the PIAA about unfair private school recruiting. They are laughing at fools like you all the way to the bank.

Of course I will not put my # on line and since u r a PUSSYcat u realize that. Why did u delete 2 of your messages tough guy? I was a PCL guy before u were a glimmer in your Daddy"s eye. Punk.

Huck, just what I was told by a couple of the alum. Don't know about Murphy's home life, but he was back at it after a couple years coaching the D and scouting games every weekend. He was back putting in a lot of time so it seemed like a logical reason when I heard it, doesn't mean it's 100% accurate. I know he is well liked by players and parents alike, so I wouldn't be shocked if he were back at the helm.

Chuvalo, I don't disagree with your comment about Harrison at all, wouldn't want him as my next door neighbor. However, he coached the freshman team this year and having one of the best players, at his position, to ever step foot on an NFL field has to carry some weight with kids choosing a school.

I explained why I did it Chumpo. Guess you can add lack of comprehension, social etiquette, and title rings as things you want to ask Santa for this year. My guess is you will get 2 lumps of coal in your stocking because you clearly don't have any in your pants, tough guy.

Obviously he was yelled at, I assume IADelco is answering to someone. What a coward....

Clearly I explained in my last post. If you guys can't comprehend, that means understand Chalupa, then I apologize for your lack of education as well. Normal human feeling is to have empathy for another human being. Not going to help you guys with that one so you may need to purchase dictionaries. Pretty sure you can learn these things with a public school education though. You don't need a private or Catholic education for comprehension. Although I guess it wouldn't hurt to cry about how private education is superior to public as well. But just like most of the arguments you make, it's already common sense so why bother Chumpo?

Jive, yea I think Murph stepped away after they won the PCL Red title in '07. So, I doubt they were unhappy with him. I just always got the sense that some things in his personal life forced him to step away. Then, a couple of years later it was little easier to get back involved as an assistant. I can't say for sure, though.

I ain't buying the lame excuses for this guy's lack of coaching. He can't develop players. He's the typical NESAC youth football coach. He can't make excuses about Prep and/or LaSalle as far as resources. Roman has a huge tradition and alumni base. They've won championships. He himself should be ashamed of making excuses since he's the Roman "Golden Boy", right? Let say all agree that Roman Football has been sleeping at the wheel and taken a lot of talented kids for granted over the past years. You mention that he never loss to any other PCL teams aside from Prep and LaSalle...Okay, that's typical considering the limited number of PCL schools within their AAAA league. But he's consistently gotten stumped by both and barely beat Ryan.
Last season he abused D. Kelly and nepotismed the heck out of his little brother who clearly was not built to play slot receiver at that size. Repeatedly, he sparingly used the more talented AJ Frazier and John Chaney. D. Kelly finally broke down against lowly Thanksgiving rival Roxborough and exited the field with a shoulder injury after carrying the ball for more than half carries as Ryan's Samir Bullock, but produced fewer yards than Bullock. Now, how did Manny Taylor earn a football scholarship offer this offseason? Right, it wasn't McCourt what so ever. Manny went to Rutgers Under The Lights camp and exhibited his upside as a promising offensive lineman. So much talent has left Roman of the past years. Heck, Will Fuller did it on his own as well. Word is that his family sacrificed a great deal to get this kid on the recruiting map. McCourt has no significance in this kid's recruitment. So for all you McCourt sympathizers on here making more excuses for this guy, I welcome you to some discourse. I promise none of what I comment on will vanish like a SnapChat post...Karma is a motha! The fat lady has worn out her vocal chords!

Great for you! YOu witnessed the Roman "Golden Boy" in action. Welp, his coaching was horrid. Not sure why the other poster deleted his comments, but I stand by what I've witnessed and know. Murphy returning to coach the defense and more likely coach the coach was his saving grace *no pun*. The guy never delivered the goods that the alum and administration probably expected. He makes all these excuses about why Prep and LaSalle are successful but he doesn't take a look in the mirror. Prep has to travel farther to Belmont or Temple to practice. Wait, maybe the Prep kids who drive to school have an advantage. Not buying his lame duck excuses. He got his rear end handed to him by those schools. Point blank. I've also received info from a reliable source that the McCourt coaching faction allegedly sent SJP practice footage and play signal intel to Parkland High coaches which may be considered "Spy Gate" tactics or tampering...but hey it usually comes out is the rinse.

Owl,

Are you serious with this? Disagree with his coaching but you know absolutely nothing about him nor about any recruiting information regarding the aforementioned players.

Taylor hadn't even played a snap of Varsity Football. Did he just miraculously show up to numerous camps on his own? No, McCourt helped him out big time getting his name out there and in fact keeping him involved with football.

Fuller is even more of a bullshit story from you. His highlight tape was sent to every single school possible when he was a sophomore (Pre Hudl days). Fuller actually committed well early to Penn State before all the sanctions were handed. Lets remember, up until Fuller filled out when he was a senior he was a slender 6 ft 140 lb WR. His recruiting process was slow from a national standpoint. How did he end up at ND? You seem to know so much about him, why don't you ask him. Also, I could be wrong but I'm almost positive Roman helped raise money to get him and his family out there on a visit.

So what about Hez Trahan ending up at Pitt? He just wander on their campus one day?
Gavin Wiggins? Dennis Regan? The numerous D-2 and D-3 kids?

While you're on the subject of tampering which is completely idiotically false BTW about practice footage being sent to the Parkland coaching staff..... How about when a particular coach at IMHOTEP told Fuller to contact the Prep about transferring in there because he would have a better chance of being recognized playing with an elite QB like Morningwheg. Which led to a phone call between a prep coach and Fuller. Its funny how things turned out with Fuller staying at Roman being the city's all time leading receiver and doing pretty damn well at ND.

You're taking a shot at a guy who represented the Catholic League in a positive light both as a player and a Coach, You know nothing about the situation at Roman. You obviously don't know him as a person because "Golden Boy" couldn't be further from the truth. Again, disagree with his coaching, but your personal shots and "inside info" are completely inaccurate.

Murphy was not "removed" for recruiting. He simply stepped down after winning the PCL red in 2007 like Huck mentioned.

There is a lot more to this than McCourt's coaching ability ... there are several things over the past 2 years that the admin was alerted to that could not be overlooked. I'm pretty sure Joe was aware of the issues.
