I have a graduate degree from Ohio State and got to know Tom Ryan pretty well doing work with FloWrestling, so I'm not as excited as you are that Penn State clinched!

Man, the Inqy always shoots themselves in the foot...this time with that headline. Weren't all the kids who won state titles from PA? LOL! I think they simply omitted "SE" from the headline. Hey, at least they had an article!

He had that big brace on and apparently his dad said it after the match. Either way, DeSanto came to wrestle and looked awesome. Has to be the biggest upset in state history.

Austin DeSanto proved his win over Spencer Lee was no fluke. He absolutely man handled Illinois-bound Justin Mejia of CA at the Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic (fka 'Dapper Dan') with a MD18-5 this past Saturday. Mejia was a CA 4x State champ with a record of 168-1...er now 168-2.

Of course, DeSanto is no slouch with a career mark of 188-7. He could easily be a 3x'er if not for Spencer Lee in 2016 and a hose job in a prior PIAA state tourney. Prior to this weekend, Intermat had High School 126 ranked as follows:

1st - Spencer Lee/SR/Franklin Regional-PA/Iowa
2nd - Gavin Teasdale/JR/Jefferson-Morgan-PA/PSU
3rd - Justin Mejia/SR/Clovis-CA/Illinois
4th - Austin DeSanto/SR/Exeter Twp-PA/Drexel
