Here’s a conspiracy for you all to think about: St. Joes Prep purposely loses the state championship every couple of years so that they can stay in the public state bracket.

Think about it. If St. Joes prep won every year, they would definitely be under more scrutiny than they are now. People would realize the ridiculous advantages that the prep has. That’s why they intentionally lose some state championships. They do this to say “hey, a public school beat us, there’s no unfair advantages. Let us stay playing these podunk public schools in the playoffs”

Do you guys really think 2021 Mt. Lebanon and 2017 Pine-Richland had better teams than a school that gets players from 3 different states? Not a chance. They threw those games.

Sit back and watch. They’ll win this years state championship easily, and also next year. But In the 2025 season, they’ll lose to some random public school in the final to save face.

Can you name the last SJP player who came from a state other than PA or NJ?

Don't know about you but I watched last year's championship game and one thing that was clear is that SJP didn't throw it. How in the world do you think you could have a team of 15-17 year olds throw a game and keep everyone quiet about it? And how would you convince a high school sophomore like Samaj Jones last year that it it is in his interest to lose a game on purpose?

they have down recruiting years just like Alabama, and some of their top prospects don't pan out so they rely on young promising prospects earlier than they planned on and that allows teams like Mt. Lebanon and Pine Richland to beat them

play them when they are young and maybe a team in Pa can beat them, the next time that might happen is in 2024

The 2 states thing is a bit old. Roman also have players from jersey. Jersey is literally 10 min away. There’s schools with much bigger talent pools out there.

You can literally walk from prep n Roman over the bridge to jersey. Yes technically it’s another state. Realistically it’s within the boundaries of other hs.

SJP has great players and incredible coaches. District like Seneca Valley and Hempfield (and PCC) in the WPIAL cover just as much area as what's going on in Philly. I hated it at first, but it's possible to win. Just have to have the right kids and coaches. I also think that if publics play their hand right with upcoming NIL, that could also help them.

i grew up in a house with a view of the Monongahela river, the kids that lived across the river went to a different school district

if SJP lacks these things it's just proof that those things don't make much of a difference, it's not like a "state of the art weight room" makes a kid taller or more talented than he otherwise would've been

you're either born a pit bull or a poodle, no coaching or facilities changes your ceiling

on top of that most public schools lack those things too, Aliquippa wins track titles and they don't even have a track they just run around the school
