Not a fan of P-R in any way, but is this kid always like this? Sounds like sort of a punk.

"ALTOONA, Pa. — Outside of a celebratory Bishop McDevitt locker room, Crusaders quarterback Stone Saunders took a victory lap.

“We heard the talk before and we took it personal,” said Saunders, a Kentucky commit. “We came out and we wanted to punch them in their mouth, and that's what we did. ... We pretty much just took their souls from them for four quarters.”

Saunders then took aim at Pittsburgh.

“Aliquippa, you know, they deserve it. They beat us [in the state title in 2021],” Saunders said. “But any other Pittsburgh team, man, I like our chances. And I like our chances against Aliquippa, too. Don’t get me wrong. But, yeah, I think Harrisburg, Philly, I think all of them get disrespected about how they're not [seen as as] physical [as Pittsburgh teams]. And then, you know, we came in and showed how physical we were.”

I didn't like his talking about his opponent (at all) instead of focusing on his own team, but I do understand where he was coming from in saying that in reaction to the talk out of WPIAL supporters, especially some of the online personalities. It's insulting to say or infer that the only physical football is played in the western part of the state. With that said, he should leave that talk to the guys like us on forums and twitter.

There was some chirping before the game on social media, then you have the big name western pa sports accounts on Twitter and the likes that are WPIAL ride or die. Also Ledonne’s teams are kinda known to be undisciplined in this facet. Penn hills teams under him were practically walking laundry, I think it’s scaled back a little with the suburban kids at PR but still definitely there and has caused them issues with laundry on the field. I guess it’s a give it, take it sort of deal in the case here. Definitely immature as hell from saunders no doubt.

Going a little bit into the game penalties in general were a huge part in PR’s undoing. 3 very nice TD’s called back on a stupid hold or illegal formation. Multiple games this season now with 10+ egregious penalties. PR has a nice young team to run it back next season, but they seriously need to focus on fundamentals/execution and discipline this off season. The fact that they made it as far as they did with a good bit of sloppy execution and penalties throughout the season, things are looking very up if they can fix that with the talent they possess.
