Humm........Governor Mifflin's great team was also 'guaranteed' last year. Didn't get out of the district.
they had to play much better teams than the creampuffs Belle Vernon will play in wpial 3A, nobody is anywhere near their class they would be no worse than top 3 in 4A
Sorry to hear that. I knew the Wpial was in decline but felt they could field more than one decent team in a field of twelve 3As.
About rating them in 4A. It's a strong group in D7 alone with Quips, McKees and your favorite Cent Val. Armstrong is sneaky and TJ seems to have righted their ship.
tiger- i agree NA will win this semi game, but CM is weird, not terrible, somehow they beat Peters and seneca- Peters had 3 close games, could have been 9-1. I'd say maybe NA game is 21-7 win, not quite destruction.
BP- i think BV might get pushed by Avonworth or Freeport- neither of those are "creampuffs" IMO, their only losses are to 4A schools- likely BV wins gold, but i think they will have maybe a close game in either semi of final

Freaking Max Preps had NA losing 32-31. They have since corrected it. Was hard to believe that many points scored on a rainy night. And hard to believe NA would lose, yet the score was posted.
as we have talked about many times, maxpreps is better than nothing, cool sometimes, but hardly accurate. I think it is a patchwork of dudes that either volunteer or get paid a few dollars to "feed them info." I know a guy who is just a "youth football dad" that "works for maxpreps." He sits at games and writes stuff down during a game, and then "sends it to maxpreps."
With pr I've never seen a team do a 180 like they've done this year. Starting 1-3 and switching up somethings and some key positions (especially QB) they are a completely different team. Hats of to the coaching staff. Them and Erie prep will be a great game. Im giving ecp the slight edge but the winner of that game will be my pick in Hershey to beat Imhotep.
tiger- good question, but no, he was still great, and so was his staff- PR is just a really good football community
haus- its funny, the reality is the coaches had a dumb scheme in the spring and summer, and they "undid" that bad scheme, and went back to playing mostly what the program has been playing/using for the last 8 years
and, woulda coulda- if PR leaders had hired this staff last year, which they could have, pr would be going for our 3rd consecutive state title
Get bent dude, na has more transfers than PCC does the past ten years, including this year! Enjoy your best out of 5 district title, not state, it’s pretty pathetic a school as big as NA and that clearly recruits kids to their football program takes ten years to get back to this point. With the past 6 being in this watered down 6A! Sorry, not impressive at all

Very obvious that coaches and people in the NA community have gotten families to "move into NA" and that is pretty much the definition of "recruiting and transfers"
Yes, to Jacky's point- lots of kids have moved into NA over recent years, likely not more than PCC, but yes, they have some
The point of lot of our comments- and frankly even your comments is that Walker has had lots of talent, and tons of resources from a wealthy district- pretty clearly has "under-delivered" in number of championships in the last 10 years.
In the last 10 years, many coaches have had more titles than Walker. I'm not "hating" this is just the facts. Walker might be a "good guy" but my mailman is also a "good guy." Great success in team sports is championships. By that definition, Walker is not one the "greatest." Good, not great, and should be better w the resources he has, including "recruited talent."
In the last 10 years, in the WPIAL, the following coaches success have had more titles:
Palko, Cherpak, Lyons, Rossi, Kasperovicz, Totten, Holl, LeDonne
NA and Walker has lots of resources, lots of talent, and Walker makes like 120 thousand, he should have "produced more" in the last 10 years
I always laugh when NA people think they have great coaching/programs. A huge part of it is simply the talent pool. NA is literally double the size of the second biggest school in the WPIAL. They are just big. That is all. What would happen if you took all the kids from Pine-Richland and North Hills and put them in one school? You would have a school the size of North Allegheny.

Well, they did beat ON HELL of a Laurel team that should have gotten out attention then always tough Rochester but heck yes. Who expected this one! I had them penciled in the final maybe rematching with Steel High.

he's from Beaver County, it was a long drive to Mt. Lebanon
i thought he was crazy to take a job, you would think an assistant of his status could wait for a better job but apparently he knew Union was a sleeping giant i guess
and yeah Union winning is a major upset i can't imagine anybody predicted before the playoffs
