Rumor has it that the central league will play this fall. Meeting next week to confirm it but inside source says it’s a done deal. No word on how many games or exact dates yet. Will chest-mont do the same?

CL-yes-see my post under the LaSalle thread. Looks like 2 division format ( 6 bigs. 6 smalls) and you would play a 5 game schedule within your own division, with a possible cross over game # 6 ( 1 v. 1, 2 v. 2, etc).

Ahh my bad. I have gotten tired of all the LaSalle and Prep threads so I don’t bother to read them anymore.

Yeah that was their original plan and one that I thought was fair to some extent considering the climate. But I believe each school board still has to approve, hopefully all 12 are in & 1 or 2 don't vote it down.

First football game looks like 10/23 and last game will be 11/28. No playoffs for central league teams. Just a league only schedule.

Sounds like marple and possibly Springfield will try to get into the playoffs.

9 of 12 teams are in for a league only schedule. Radnor should become the 10th team on Tuesday. Sounds like Harriton and LM are out. Will be interesting to see how schedule comes out

With those 2 out , the question becomes to you stick with the big school / small school format with now 4 division games and one final cross over game for a total of 5. Or going with a 10 team , 6 game unbalanced schedule?

Normal schedule would be one non-league game with 9 league games. I would say first game should be a cross over game that doesn’t count to league record. Followed by 4 league games and a final game of cross over with record matching record (1st vs 1st, 2nd vs 2nd, etc). At least in my opinion. Also heard Harriton and LM might just play each other 3 times and call it a year. That seems dumb to me. Also ruins the Radnor/LM series. This year would have been their 124th consecutive game.

With the understanding the central will not participate in the playoffs. Anyone have any insight to how the teams will look. Most of them scrimmaged this week. Radnor and marple sounds like they are returning a good amount of players. Haverford has a lot to replace. Upper Darby has a new coaching staff. Has stoga rebounded. Ridley supposedly was young last year. Garnet will obviously be a force

Watched and listened to a few of the games tonight in the central league:
1. Ridley does not look good. Slow, undisciplined, and JV looking. (yes it was their varsity). Trying to find a QB it seems. Granted, it was only a scrimmage/preseason game- but Defense should be very good.
2. Marple looks pretty solid with playmakers. They should be able to ride Box through 5a. Defense looked ok, not many teams in 5a have tremendous offenses though.
3. Springfield has a very good young QB (soph I think) but he's not playing varsity this year. Well coached defensively, they'll keep them in games. Not many playmakers.
4. Garnet threw the ball ten plus times (more than entire seasons) and played EVERYONE. Couldn't really get a feel but when they ran their offense they looked like garnet.
5. Haven- Haverford were 14-14 when Haven threw a pic in the endzone returned to the 3. Haven moved the ball pretty easily. Haverford obviously is missing the greatest player in Delco history in Blair. OC seems to be struggling not having that crutch to fall on. Blair right, Blair left
6. Upper Darby has yet to play and talking to people involved in the program, it seems to be an "eye opening" experience for the new staff.
7. Stoga seems to be improved, QB will be good.
8. Radnor, I have not seen, but I think they'll be solid this year. Will give Marple a game as they're always well coached.

Predictions below
Garnet- 5-0
Haverford - 4-1
Ridley- 3-2
Conestoga- 2-3
Upper Darby- 1-4
Lower Merion- 0-5

Marple- 5-0
Haven - 4-1
Springfield- 3-2/ 2-3
Radnor- 2-3/3-2
Penncrest- 1-4
Harriton- 0-5

At the end it will be Marple-Garnet in the championship game

Got the chance to see some games tonight in the central league.
marple looks good. Did what they were supposed to.
Ridley looks improved from last week
Conestoga is better then they were last year and should be a tough team to beat
Radnor strath Haven was the game of the night with strath Haven looking like they could be very good this year.
Upper Darby looked awful tonight against a decent haverford team. ( wonder if they are regretting firing Gentile)
Garnet did what they were supposed to and will probably win the league again this year.
Springfield Looked pretty good against a bad penncrest team.

While I’m happy everyone is back playing , there Was a lot of bad football played last night. I’m not sure how much we can blame on the virus , so hopefully next week it’s better. But UD, LM, Harriton , Penncrest are inept. So inept that it’s hard to gauge the quality of the teams that played them. Even Ridley Conestoga feature a lot of bad football from both teams. While it turned to be a “ good game “ , it was kind of like the Eagles Giants game on Thursday- close , competitive , lots of action that came down to a few plays here or there , but it was hardly quality football. They say teams improve most between games 1&2 in a season. Hopefully that’s true this year as well This year . But I think you are are going to see 4 blowouts or more each week out of 6 games. It was nice to just see them back playing again.
