A few big games that caught my eye this week...

1. Pennridge vs. Coatesville - very contrasting offensive styles. Pennridge’s Wing T against Coatesville’s spread. Both teams compliment their offenses by playing very solid defense. I think Pennridge has the speed to keep up with Coatesville, which has haunted SOL teams facing Coatesville in the past. It feels like Pennridge’s year. In my opinion, this is the actual District 1 final. I think Pennridge or Coatesville will be big favorites next week over Souderton or Spring Ford. Give me the Rams in this one by a TD.

2. Souderton vs Spring Ford - I haven’t seen enough of Souderton this year, so I will rely on others to fill me in. I do know they have one of the top coaches around. As I’ve said before, I don’t think SF is a top District 1 team. I think they are pretty average. I’ll take Souderton in this one.

3. LaSalle vs Arch Wood - this is definitely the top non-playoff matchup of the weekend. Both teams were handled by SJP (as expected), but have won their other games. This contest last year was a classic with LaSalle scoring at the final seconds to force OT, then Wood blocking an XP in OT to win it. I believe Wood returns almost all of their starters from last year’s team. LaSalle still has the dynamic Brown in the backfield. I expect Wood to win this one by a TD or two. Although I defer to Huck on all things PCL, is he out there???

Would love to hear everyone else’s thoughts. Enjoy the games!

Nice job with your picks, but that LaSalle ?wood game is a toss up IMO. I like Pennridge to win D-1 this year .

I like the Rams this year, but if Coates can pass then I think they have a real good shot at this one. Abington exposed the Rams a bit with their speed and pass abilities.

That’s fair Romeo. I’m basing it off Wood beating them last year and returning more production than LaSalle. I haven’t seen a ton of either team yet, but I am excited to see them this weekend.

A couple years ago many people underestimated the Pennridge basketball team that ended up in the state finals, so Im going with them against the red raiders .

I wasn't impressed with Spg-Fd vs Cumberland Valley as CV starts a lot of underclassmen plus a soph Qb which is the death sentence in the Commonwealth (CD, Hburg, State Hi) especially transitioning from the Wing-T to the Spread with a first year coach.
Coatesville-Pennridge; was thinking if Rams had some difficulty with Abington's skill they could be in maybe severe trouble against Coatesville.
