Neshaminy 4-0;
CB South looms but it’s home with Titans coming off North Penn. Skins are looking good!
North Penn 4-0; Have feisty Pennridge Friday in Lansdale then away at CB South. Should win both but as we all know, it’s high school football!
CB South 4-0; Looks like a Titan task going unscathed with North Penn 9/30 and Neshaminy 10/7 back to back then Pennridge 10/21.
Upper Dublin 3-0; Hard finding a loss on this schedule. Can they do it again?

Central
Ridley 4-0;
Biggie in two weeks vs rival Springfield at home then undefeated Marple Newtown before what looks like clear sailing.
Marple Newtown 5A 4-0; Get Ridley home 10/7 then at Haverford 10/14.

Ches Mont
Bishop Shanahan 5A 4-0;
Eagles are at Downingtown West 9/30, Downingtown East at home 10/14 followed by Coatesville 10/21 in Coatesville. Doubt they can fly above all that!
Sun Valley 5A 4-0; Have Great Valley who’s scoring points by the bushels at home Friday then Unionville 10/28 also home. Doable and a great start by the Vanguards but not likely once into the meat of it.

Del Val
Penn Wood 4-0;
Severe test Saturday vs Haverford School in a reality check then Glen Mills at home with Academy Park 10/14 in Sharon Hill and Interboro 10/29 also at home.
Academy Park 5A 4-0; Road games at Glen Mills and Interboro with Penn Wood sandwiched in between. Ouch!
Interboro 4A 4-0; Glen Mills, Academy Park and Penn Wood on consecutive weekends with AP the only homer.

Pioneer
Perkiomen Valley 4-0;
They’re at Spring Ford 10/7 but have passed tests vs Downingtown West, Pennridge and last week against Haverford School. The Vikings are one tough out.

D12
St. Joseph’s Prep 3-0;
Archbishop Wood showed moxie and they have as much if not more talent than Hawks will see from here on out. Right, with arguments coming from Father Judge and LaSalle. Roman?
Cardinal O’Hara 4A, 4-0; Don’t see a challenge until CE 10/14 away then the finale at home vs West Catholic.
Imhotep Charter 4A 3-0; The regular season finally starts (and ends….!) with the game at Malvern Prep 9/30.
Philadelphia Central 3-0; Probably home free if they get past Frankford this weekend. But Frankford is well tested vs Pennsbury and Perk Val.

D11
Emmaus 4-0;
Boo coo landmines with Freedom, Liberty, Easton and Parkland yet to play.
Saucon Valley 4A, 4-0; Picking up where they left off last year (?) but a tough one this weekend at Southern Lehigh then Northwestern the following week also away. Then there’s the road game at Notre Dame 10/21.

D2
Wyoming Area 4A, 4-0;
Big game vs city rival Scranton Prep Friday with another major challenge at undefeated Williamsport 10/21. Already beat Berwick at Berwick 34-20 making this a bad ass little quad.
North Pocono 4A 4-0; The Trojans have two road blocks on the schedule, this week vs Delaware Valley and the closer against Scranton Prep. The good news, both are home games and they’re playing good D. Headed for their first winning season since 2010, going 11-39 since!

D4
Williamsport 4-0;
Looking like a million bucks but have a number of hurdles starting Friday at AAAA Shikellamy (3-1). Don’t laugh, Shik lost to ranked Montoursville (AAA, 4-0) by 5 and beat rival Selinsgrove 21-14. Graduated just 6 seniors with returning senior linemen Jacob Stine 6-6 1/2 280, Ethan Oakes 5-11 235 (also FB) and Derek Bussey 6-3 260 opening some holes. Power vs Speed. Williamsport may catch em coming down from Seals win but shouldn’t get too cocky in Sunbury Friday night. Then Delaware Valley 10/8 and Wyoming 10/21 meaning they’ll have to earn it.

Stalk -

CB South has a handful there with NP, the 'Skins and then Pennridge two weeks later (that's a haul).

Fair amount of undinged clubs - the next four weeks will see a few fall out, that's for sure.

I see that 3-0 Malvern Prep has the Gilman School this week (at 1-2 but that might be deceiving) followed by currently 3-0 Imhotep (who probably is 4-0 after their game with Simon Gratz) so that will flesh them out a bit.

Could be more than a couple that make it through clean and head into the playoffs without any blemishes.

Malvern lost its first game of the season to St. Augustine (NJ)

Stalk, Do you really think Wood has as much if not more talent than SJP?

Read it again for context. Initially, I did a double take but Stalk is suggesting that it's within reason to believe that Wood could be the deepest team they face in the Catholic league for remainder of year.

Roxy, Thanks. The absence of the definite article before "Hawks" threw me a bit. Stalk is probably right about Wood's talent this year being second only to the Prep's in the PCL--especially in light of LaSalle's injuries, but maybe even if LaSalle didn't have the injuries. Still, the Prep's got lots to work to do, and there's a particular kind of vulnerability that comes with the fact and the reputation for having lots of talent. Complacency can set in and you can become everyone's target.

I got a sense watching the game last Friday that all the ESPN-related hype had something to do with the sloppiness of both teams. Think that might have been the case?

Roxy, that's exactly what I meant and tulla, sorry to confuse.

The national exposure is great for the area in general. However, it wasn't the hype, it was the amount of time that all the TV timeouts created. The first quarter itself took just about an hour to play. It affected everything and threw off the ability of either team to get into a groove. It also seemed to throw off the refs as they were sloppy and inconsistent. The game itself was about 3.5 hours long.

I watched the game on TV and agree about the breaks. About the officials, I didn't think many of theirs calls looked bad, but they seemed to take extra time making and enforcing some of them. They have some real control over the pace of the game, and maybe being on national TV affected them.

It was also the case that both teams wound up passing a lot, probably more than planned, and there were a lot of incompletions.
