Conwell Egan D12 6-6 vs Palisades D11 13-0, Saturday 1, Ne Supersite, Phila.
Conwell Egan avenged a 31-21 regular season loss to Lansdale Catholic (5-7) by defeating the Crusaders in 1st round action 44-20. Patrick Garwo got 194 yards on 28 carries and 3 scores for the Eagles who advance to play undefeated Colonial League champ Palisades who survived Lehighton (12-1) 48-42. The Pirates punishing ground game featured Trey Gretzinger’s 224 yards rushing on 12 carries, Jared Colletti’s 205 on 16 carries and Ethan Baker’s 94 yards on 12 carries. But that was against a Schuylkill Football Conference team. This is the Philadelphia Catholic League with CEC winning in a WAR by 2.40 points.
Scranton Prep D2 14-0 vs Middletown D3 14-0, Friday 7, Bethlehem Stadium.
The Cavaliers used an effective running game while their defense forced 5 Loyalsock (8-5) turnovers, paving the way to a 31-28 win. Matt Gilmartin led all rusher with 196 yards with Qb Leo O’Boyle completing 7 of 11 for 98 yards and rushing for 88 on 6 carries. Middletown is next, a team that beat them last year at this juncture 40-13. The Blue Raiders got here by routing Wyomissing 49-0. All time rush leader Brady Fox had 212 yards while Jose Lopez had 124. Middletown lost in the state title game last year to Beaver Falls. Raiders roll by 17.78 points.

Forest Hills D6 11-1 vs Sharon D10 9-3, Saturday 1, Penns Manor HS.
District-6 power Forest Hills defeated Huntingdon (10-2) 32-25 to win their 10th District title and 400th win in school history. They play in the rugged Laurel Highlands Conference with Bishop Guilfoyle who they lost to 24-21 (!), Bishop McCort and Johnstown. Tough conference. Their opponent Sharon, blew out Karns City (7-5) 67-17. Sophomore Qb Lane Voytik with 2154 yards on the year becomes the first sophomore in Mercer County to reach the 2000 yard mark. Got a big arm and threw for 233 yards vs KC. Nice run/pass balance with Jordan Wilson getting 164 yards on 11 carries but they love to fling it. Tigers are good but lose to the Rangers by 3.45 points.
Quaker Valley D7 12-1 vs……..Bye
Quaker Valley beat previously unbeaten Aliquippa (12-1) 2-0 for their first district title in school history. The win avenges a regular season 22-7 loss, their only loss. 5 turnovers and 20 penalties for 195 yards kept the Quips bottled up with 2 of the 5 turnovers coming in the red zone. QV moves into a bye week awaiting the winner of Forest Hills-Sharon.

Imhotep D11 11-1 vs Valley View D2 10-3, Friday 7, Northern Lehigh HS,
Valley View took 2 overtime periods to topple top seeded Berwick (10-3) 24-17 and advance to the quarterfinals against Imhotep who had no trouble with Cardinal O’Hara (7-4), winning 40-7. One of Valley View’s losses was to Delware Valley 28-21, who lost last week in the 6A playoff to State College 21-14. ICS is favored but not by much....3.22....up in Slatington at Northern Lehigh HS
Selinsgrove D4 11-2 vs Bethlehem Catholic D11 11-2, Friday 7, Shamokin HS.
Selinsgrove beat Bellefonte (10-3) 37-3 who were hobbled with injuries to their quarterback, leading receiver and running back. That was bad news with Seals quarterback Logan Leiby on target all day as he’s been all season completing 12 of 17 passes for 238 yards and 3 scores. He’s thrown for 3448 yards at a 66% clip. Their opponent Friday is Bethlehem Catholic who had no trouble with Pottsgrove (11-2), racing out to a 42-14 half time lead before winning 49-14. All totaled, they rushed for 358 yards with Matthew Bisko getting 122 yards and Zahir Seabrooks adding 144. Beca is favored but not by much in Shamokin by 3.81 points as the Seals keep it close with an extreme passing attack.

Berks Catholic D3 12-0 vs Harrisburg-Bishop McDevitt D3 10-2, Friday 1, Hershey Park Stadium.
Top seeded Berks Catholic used a punt returned for a scores and two Pick-6’s to eliminate East Pennsboro (9-3) 48-7. It was all over at the half with the Saints holding a 42-0 lead. Syracuse bound Cooper Lutz rushed for 146 yards on 6 carries while the defense held form, not allowing a touchdown by the 1st unit all year!
Bishop McDevitt got back to the district final beating Lampeter Strasburg (7-5) 47-14. Qb Chase Diehl completed 13 of 16 passes for 224 yards and 2 scores. Running back Qualik Davis scorched the Pioneers for 190 yards on 27 carries. Berks big at 30.15.
Cathedral Prep D10 11-0 vs Thomas Jefferson D7 11-1, Friday 7, Veterans Stadium, Erie.
Cathedral Prep had a bye while Thomas Jefferson was having little trouble with Montour (9-3) in the Wpial final defeating them 27-0. This was TJ’s 8th district title and 7th under Coach Bill Cherpak. It was also their 3rd shutout of the postseason. They move on to play Cathedral Prep who defeated them at this stage last year 30-13 (14-13 through 3rd!) giving them their only loss of the year in a 12-1 campaign. Prep went on to defeat Berks Catholic 28-14 and Imhotep 27-20 to win the 4A championship. ECP by 23.58
