* New team

D2
*Delaware Valley 7-2;
Ex-Nittany Lion Keith Olsommer has them on the same page now winning all their games following tough losses to Downingtown East and North Pocono. After ending Williamsport’s undefeated season 3 weeks ago 49-43, they pounded Scranton 43-7 and Wallenpaupack 54-7, keeping the offense purring. That’s a good thing for the closer at home against Abington Heights (6-3) who has gone down competitively in their 3 losses.
Wyoming Valley West 5A 7-2; That’s 5 straight for the Spartans after back-to-back losses to Delaware Valley and Williamsport. Coughlin (5-4) is next.
Scranton Prep 3A 8-1; The closer at North Pocono (7-2) will reveal a lot and decide the Lackawanna FB League’s Division One.
Lakeland 2A 8-1; 5 straight for the Chiefs and won’t the rematch with Dunmore in districts be special! Hate seeing either one of these two eliminated.
Dunmore 2A 9-0; Dunmore is home against Old Forge who is struggling at 4-5 but its still Old Forge who the Bucks will not take lightly.
Northwest 1A 6-3; The Rangers are playing real well as evidenced by their 4 game win streak of which 3 were on the road. And they’re winning the close ones by 1, 3 and 6 points which is good prep for the upcoming district wars.

Selinsgrove 4A 7-2;
The Seals party (5 straight) very likely comes to an end this week with the road trip to undefeated Southern Columbia. While they crushed struggling Mount Carmel (4-5) last week 45-21, the Tigers are a whole other animal, playing above last year’s PIAA AA championship level!
Southern Columbia 2A 9-0; Scary thinking these guys could be better than the team that disassembled Aliquippa in last year’s AA title game 49-14. Whoa! But that’s what they did with a huge offense that averaged 46ppg and a defense that allowed 17. This year’s edition is averaging 49ppg with a D even better at 14ppg, which is why the Seals are in a lot of trouble.
North Penn 2A 8-1; The Panthers are truly on the prowl this year, looking to make real impact in the postseason against Dunmore, Southern (?) and the team they visit this weekend in Wellsboro. Last year’s team had a junior quarterback in Brock Burleigh (6-5, 210) with a big arm and no accuracy, completing 66% for almost 2800 yards but throwing 17 picks. This year he’s at 57% and 1200 yards but just 6 picks with a balanced attack and strong defense allowing 7ppg. They’re better than the team that lost to Wellsboro last year 33-12 but so is Wellsboro so we’ll see.
Wellsboro 2A 9-0; Wyalusing had nothing to offer last week losing 48-0. But this next team, North Penn from nearby Mansfield does, winning their last 5 by an average score of 35-3 including 3 shutouts. Wellsboro is also playing well, at record levels averaging 43ppg and allowing 4. They have 6 shutouts allowing a total of 33 points all year. North Penn is a veteran group but Wellsboro is a big nasty team that really gets after people.
South Williamsport 2A 8-1; The Mounties are a nice little Double-A on a tear, winning their last 7 straight games. But when your only loss is to Danville’s Ironmen 29-13 who lost to Southern Columbia 47-7, it lets you know where you stand in the pecking order. Still, they won the Heartland Athletic Conference-III and end the regular season against a scrappy bunch from the Tri Valley Conference in Line Mountain (6-3).
Sayre 1A 7-2; 7 straight wins since the 0-2 start says the Redskins are rolling. They’re doing it behind a strong OL and the exploits of running back Tylor Belles who has 1412 yards on the season. Last week’s win over Col-Mont Tech snagged their first conference title (Northern Tier-Small School) since 1980 and the #1 seed! But they have a tough one this week traveling to AAAA Athens (6-3) who are battling for the 4th seed and right to travel to Selinsgrove in the first round. Some prize!
