I'm not sure what to make of it. Hindsight being twenty twenty, there were at least five candidates who should never have made the stage. Just a waste of time and air. But on the whole I think the Democrats are playing to their base which will kill them in the end. They are playing to a third of the country. The rest of the country is republican and independent and no one over 30 in those two parties will ever vote for "free healthcare for illegal immigrants, free public college tuition, forgiveness of student loans". Make college more affordable, not free!! Why should anyone have to pay for someone else's child to go to college. College is not and never has been a right. The education the public gets up to high school should be enough to get someone on their way. And by the way, not everyone should go to college. For some it would be just a waste of time.

Now i know I'll take heat for this but enough with the immigrants!! That picture of the father and daughter in the Rio Grande is tragic. Tears your heart out. But what are we to do about it. We have homeless in the streets of every major city. The opioids epidemic is in high gear. Our infrastructure is almost beyond repair. (I live near Plymouth Meeting and if you don't believe that, try commuting up and around Stenton, Ridge and Germantown at rush hour). My point is we have so many issues here at home, I'm sorry for immigrants lose but we have to be healthy to help other people get healthy. Or at least figure out what's wrong with their home countries!!

Explain how these debates differ from the last time around with 17 Republicans? All of those people belonged there? Ben Carson?

This is where you Republicans are short sighted. For every $1 of tax money invested in paying towards tuition, $7 are collected in taxes on the back-end. Better education, better pay, more tax dollars.

I'm not for "free healthcare for illegal immigrants", but......we already have it. Reagan gave it to them and it's called the ER.

College isn't for everyone. That's why the Dems say trade school as well. And Mayor Pete, one of my favorites, says you should be able to afford NOT to go to college. That's why we need the minimum wage to be a living wage.

We know what's wrong with immigrants home countries. Bernie talked about it last night. You think people walk 1,000 miles just for Starbucks? In some Central American countries gangs try to recruit 10 year olds and if they don't join, the entire family is murdered. These people walk 1,000 miles to escape that and then Trump violates their rights to be heard for Amnesty and 23 month olds end up drowning in the Rio Grande.

"They are playing to a third of the country."

Isn't that the size of Trump's base? Besides, Trump and Hillary only received 25% and 26% of the registered vote. Americans are lazy and take their right to vote for granted.

You're right, some of them don't belong there, but everyone of them, even Marianne Williamson, would make a better President than Trump.

You and the Dems are blind. Paul is spot on. I’m a registered Democrat and I can’t vote for any of those fools. Maybe I’m too old but at least Trump isn’t giving everything away to people that aren’t even citizens. I must be older than you Paul, the roads and bridges were nothing growing up compared to now. The turnpike and blue route weren’t even around where I live 30 years ago.

Where you getting your $1 of tax dollar returns $7? If that were the case we’d be much better off and not looking at a trillion or so of college debt.

Peace

These debates don't differ at all from the republicans the last time around. Carson and maybe about five others who I can't even remember they were so inconsiquectial. They both have played to the media.

Not shortsighted at all about college. A public education through high school is plenty of investment for a person to figure what to do. It's not my fault people chose a liberal arts degree for a computer world. And I did say college should be made more affordable. And trade schools are an underdeveloped resource.

And one last time, I am not republican. I voted for Gary Johnson. Give me the most centrist candidate from the democrats RTC because that other third of voters are independent and they will decide the election. And they will not go for free this and free that.

None of it's free. It's all paid by tax dollars. I'll gladly take college and healthcare over more bombs or battle ships.

Then how about I don't want to pay for other people's college. It's that simple. What's next? Invite all the illegal immigrants for a sleep over to make everyone feel good. How about we give every adult 1000 dollars? Oh sorry that idea was taken by one of the candidates. Let me think, how else can I pander for more votes. I've got it!! Free transgender conversion! Granted they only represent .4, that's point 4 percent of the population but every vote can be bought. Considering no one will have enough money for retirement, how about the government start a tax to take care of those adults. Cradle to grave!! See how easy socialism works!!

Libertarian!!!

Sounds like you're against the huge government spending of this administration?

It's always interesting to wonder why people don't think America can pull off what most other civilized countries have with education and healthcare. That's why we are the only country on the planet where you can lose everything if you get sick.

Well let's see. Name one of your "other civilized countries" that has free medical and 325 million people? I'm assuming you're talking about western Europe when you mention civilized countries and healthcare. Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Baltic states) have a total population of 25 million people. These countries have the best success with public healthcare. Iceland has 300,000 people. Point one percent of the USA. I think that might be a little easier to handle than 300 million' don't you?

So you're saying systems that work don't scale? How un-Capitalist of you. Surely we can take what Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland and the UK did and make it better? Medicare already has 44 million enrolled. Medicaid has 70 million.

I agree with Mayor Pete. Roll out Medicare for those who want it. If it's a success people will buy in. No one is going to put the for profits out of business.

How about using some common sense before presenting a bill. Why not go after the legal end? Tort reform. Make it easier for a doctor to be a doctor instead of worrying how much they have to pay for insurance. How about going after Big pharma? There are a number of ways to work it where you don't have to tax people. A number of ways if you have the balls to go down those roads!! Just as with free college tuition. There are a number of ways to deal with it rather than tax people to death. Have people be more accountable for their actions. That goes for the colleges as well. When I went to college, room and board and tuition were the same. Now it's 4 to 1 in favor of tuition. Where, when and why did that happen?

Why are you asking me about big pharma? Another promise un-kept by Trump. He met with big pharma and said "carry on". Weak.

What do the countries with socialized medicine do? Aren't 75-90% of the world's lawyers in the US? There lies the problem.

Why should your healthcare be tied to your job? That's a big problem. We pay enough taxes now, without raising them a nickle to have healthcare for all. We'd just need to trim some fat. That's not going to happen with this exploding deficit big government administration.

College tuition exploded when the lenders made it easier for students or their parents to borrow more money. Not sure if that was a Clinton or Bush change?

Stop it with Trump and Big Pharma. No one, not even Obama, has stood up to Big Pharma, EVER!!

No one, not even Obama, besides Trump has said "I alone will fix the Big Pharma problem".

So now that you've seen Trump ignore the rule of law, ignore subpoenas, try to go around the SCOTUS, say on TV he will accept a foreign enemy's hacking of the election.... do you have any reason to believe he will leave the office peacefully next year when voted out? Remember, he also started questioning the results again and said "he's got the side with the guns, he's got the police and the military". I guess suggesting they would take arms against the citizens to keep him in power.
