Skins played the Knights tough a few weeks ago, but the buzz on the street is that NP is a few scores better than Neshaminy. I'd like to see the Skins open it up a little more with 1 and 16 to help out the running game. Quakertown's front seven outplayed the Skins on multiple short yardage situations. Do the Skins ever throw to the TE?

"The Beast", Billy Ritchey, is their TE and he's caught five passes during the season. So the answer is: Yes the 'Skins do that but not very often (Luke Carrezola had four catches in 2013 and that was over 15 games). And I am may just be wrong here about whether or not Jack Spingler ever lines up as the TE but he's grabbed eight aerials himself -- course, that might be from a wide receiver slot. Anyway, making Ritchey the target would probably catch them a bit off guard; however, he's not really fleet of foot or possessed of shiftiness so don't expect any monster yards but instead the brutish short kind of stuff -- dump passes.

The long and the short of it is the TE is not often the focus of attention when they go up top. Maybe open up Zach Tredway and Denzel Hughes even more -- they have sixty-five between, that are split fairly evenly, so no doubt about which guys are Mason Jones' favorite targets.

It's hard to get a gauge on that first meeting because the officials were so bad and inept. That had a major impact and there was no flow to the game. Had to agree with Beck with his post-game comments (paraphrasing) about it being one of the worst officiated games he's ever seen. Thankfully the weather has cooperated this week and I suspect the field will at least be in decent shape.

Have to admit I really want to see Upper Dublin play. Leaning towards this game, but have a feeling I'll get to see UD next week regardless. Oh, wait, the LaSalle/Parkland game will be at the same time. Decisions, decisions......

I would disagree about qtown front seven. Momentum changed right before the half when Qtown with a first and goal at the 2 of Nesh. ran 3 plays and ended up 4th & 7 and had to kick a field goal. 2nd half Qtown receives the kick off, goes 3 and out and Neshaminy pounds it for 9+ minutes and gets tying FG. During the drive Nesh, DE #85 came in on short yardage and lined up on the butt of the guard. Also during the drive Nesh put a WR. in motion who caught the ball in the flat for about 12 yards. Nice call, Qtoqn who was in man coverage, and the DB was to deep when he got across the field to make the play. Nesh. did just what they wanted, wearing down Qtown front 7 which showed in the 4th quarter, when you win the game.

Number 1 was keyed on by qtown all night opening things up for others. NP will have to pay attention to other receivers. Nesh. #40 will be a key player Friday night.

Number 85 is senior Harmon Yalartai (6' -1", 261) who is one of the defensive ends. Back in the old days Schmidt had that arrangement he called "The Package" (for short yardage) where'd he'd have the Pro-I (but in tight) with a guard or some lug in that position (as you described) to the right or left of the of the FB (behind the guard). Two tight ends and just ram it up there for a few yards (that was fun to watch).

Number 40 is junior Hayden Rooney (6'-0", 200) who has been as the FB when they bring one in to that modified "Pistol" (to date in the season he's had minimal carries with 14 for 47 yards along with four pass receptions for 21 more ticks and then one TD). Of course, knowing the "Pistol" normally has just one back it makes sense a bit that he has few carries (Dogba averages 23 a game and then Jones is just under six with Joe Pirrone, Dogba's backup, at five so that's getting close to the 37 they average per game and on the ground). I understand Rooney has shown to be a good blocker, though, and perhaps that is what they expect of him.

By the way, Jones (QB), Dogba (RB), Rooney (FB) and Tredway (WR) are all juniors at the offensive skill positions. Then AJ Sanko (center 5'-8", 202), Eddie Parry (guard 6'-0', 285) and Chris Wilson (tackle 6'-5", 290) are also juniors on the front line. Simple math shows seven starters are then returing while they have a few other juniors (including Klyle Osterhouldt at 6'-1", 245) who have rotated in a fair amount on the line (as guards or tackles) so filling out the other two interior guys seems not to be an issue. Of course, Denzel Hughes will be gone as the other WR (to Tredway), and it's not clear who will be the TE after senior Billy Ritchey is gone, but all-in-all I'd say that offensively the 'Skins should be in great shape in 2016 (and junior Dylan McDonald is back at kickoffs, PATs and FGs and for the year so far he's 37 of 39 on the extra points plus five of six on field goals - with his longest being 40 yards - while he also has 57 kickoffs showing five touchbacks and an average of just under 50 yards per kick).

I have seen 40 twice this year and you are right he doesn't get to many carries, but he makes the other guys look good with his blocking. The last TD Fri. night he took out 2 guys. where he goes the ball will not be far behind.

I was going to say the same Shoe, Rooney hits the hole at top speed and usually finds a backer. I knew about all the skill positions coming back, but it's great to hear some of the guys up front are underclassmen as well. Skins should be in very good shape next season.

Disagree about Quakertown front seven's performance? Stopping the Skins on multiple 3rd and shorts and two 4th and ones almost helped them win that game. Skins were really struggling with the outside backer collapsing the edge quickly - I'm shocked they didn't try some more edge plays to keep 28? honest. If 16 doesn't fumble downfield after a nice keeper (17-17 at the time), I'm not sure the Skins win that game. That was a huge momentum change that allowed the Skins' OL to continue to wear-out the Panthers.

As for this week, I think you have to be extra creative as a definite underdog. Using the TE as an extra OT is great for the Bensalems and Soudertons of the world, but he needs to release every now and then to keep the Knights honest.

Jack Spingler plays as the third wide receiver. Harman Yarlartai is a blocking tight end when the Skins go to two TE sets to pound the ball. Ben Raab (84) is a junior TE/LB who has good hands (baseball player) at 6'2 220 he has good size. I think he projects to start at TE next year.He played some as a soph last year but was injured for a few games. His Dad and I are friends.

Neshaminy is tough to deal with when Jones is sharp. Most teams cannot handle big receivers and most teams have one real good CB, not two. Denzel Hughes (16) has been attracting the top corner for a good part of the season, and Zach Tredway (1) was having the bigger games. Lately, the more reliable Tredway has been viewed as more of a threat freeing up Hughes who is more explosive. If Jones is sharp those two are a handful. Add to that Spingler's catches have been mostly big ones and he has good hands and size as well. I believe Spingler leads the Skins in interceptions this year.

I think Neshaminy's conditioning on their O line has been very good as they seem to play better later in the game.

This is going to be a brawl. A major concern for the Skins is Nyfeese West has gotten healthy. West's power and speed combination can be a bear.

Last game, Ricky Johns caught a bunch of balls on Hughes (the Skins cover specialist). I haven't seen guys do that to Hughes this year. While Denzel did get a pick in that game, he has to play better this game and keep Johns from keeping NP drive alive with third down conversions.

I plan on making the trip to the "cow pasture" as Relayer so aptly calls it.

For anyone heading up, we'll be at the Sumney Tavern for the pre-game.
