Looked over SJP's just-posted roster for 2016 and noted a few things.

As I think most knew or expected, Davion Kidd-Jackson is now elsewhere, and Aaron Angelos, who was quite highly regarded as a freshman QB in Florida and who played a bit of varsity and more JV at QB last year for the Prep isn't on this year's roster. It seems he's now at a school in California. Now that's moving around.

I saw the names of two juniors, Sean Duffy and Raymond Cobb, who weren't on last year's roster. And there are four freshmen on the varsity roster, two of whom are huge for that age. The freshman roster is also posted. Here's the link to the varsity roster: http://www.prepfootball.org/roster/

They also lost Omar Speights, he was a Freshman last year. LB, this kid is a man child. I seen him play last year and was all over the field. He's 6'+ 220 maybe. He is now at IMHOTEP

Mirabile is a senior right? I think he only made the move bc of football would be sad to see him sit.

Yes.

My understanding is that both QBs sought WC out, so it's unlikely that any guarantees were made on playing time.

My hunch is that both could see time early in season until/if one separates themselves from the other.

Like I said, I haven't been up there. Outside of Jackson in some wildcat sets with SJP last year I have little to go on in terms of their abilities.

So....will McCray start this year at Qb?

Thanks guys. I guess I have lots of company feeling they're poised for great things with expected success of McCray and the # of returning starters. Shades of 2013?....with a potential rough start (2-2?..1-3 in '13) benefitting down line.
**** Do they have anyone to replace what seems a great loss in Benny Walls? Terrence Greene to stay at receiver right?

The defensive backfield should be pretty good with Richard Carr, Ricky Goodson, and Jake Goss returning.

Where did Benny Walls Graduate HS?
Woodrow Wilson, I understand. This was a topic gone over and over last spring on this board. The situation (a guy playing a full season in his senior year but graduating from another school) is the first of its kind I've heard of at SJP for many, many years--since the 70's actually. Maybe it's happened more recently, but I doubt it.

And from what I was told spearheaded by the folks at Temple.

Tulla, thanks for posting the roster. The CJ Duell kid might be setting a distance record in terms of travel, as he's a Toms River, NJ kid. He was a very highly rated eighth grader last year. Not sure how good the McCray kid is, but Duell could be in the running, maybe later on in the season. Shocked to see his name on the roster.
