This is a strange place to raise this issue that has been discussed endlessly--discussions which never change anyone's mind. What is the logic for not having a separate state-wide division for non-public schools?
SCS -Tulla, did you go to the game? What was your take? I thought that played well on both sides of the ball. They gave up 2 TDs on D (the last TD was an uncalled offensive interference). They held them to a field goal on the short field situation in the first half after the poor snap on 4th down and then held them again late in the game down inside the 10.
They have to work out the kinks in the snapping game if they are going to operate out of the 'gun for the majority of games. The kicking game has also dropped significantly from last year:
If they can stay healthy, they should be among the teams that have a legitimate shot at Hershey, but getting through the CL unscathed will be a tough task. Next week should tell us a lot.
I watched online--I'm not getting back to the area till late in the fall and am hoping to see some good games from mid-November on. (By then, their kicking game should be in better shape. At some point this season there'll be a game where, if they haven't got a reliable kicking game, it'll cost them.)SCS -
I was at the game and your comments are spot on ... Bosco's QB will be the best Prep sees this year - he's very good. For as tight as the rest of the team (SJP) is as far as execution, the snapping game was a complete head scratcher. Nice win for SJP but next week will be another test. If you can't get there, it will be on espnu.
Joe's an angry public school fan whose team hasn't been very good the last few years. Agreed the crap of transfers to public school and recruiting to private/Catholic is the same because kids are moving for football reasons. This is a strange place to raise this issue that has been discussed endlessly--discussions which never change anyone's mind.
Does anyone know what Waller's stats were from last Saturday? All indications are he's a great young man and I hope he spends the next four years playing at my namesake.I watched online--I'm not getting back to the area till late in the fall and am hoping to see some good games from mid-November on. Those snaps weren't great for the blood pressure. If I recall correctly, they had the same problem at the beginning of the season two years ago--certainly in the game against Bosco at P-W. Also the block in the back on the last SJP punt return brought back a bad memory of last year's PCL championship game. BUT, obviously there were far more positives. I was very impressed by McCray--good judgment, good arm, quick feet. etc. When you remember that DBP scored one of their TDs on a kickoff return and that their FG came after they got the ball well into Prep territory, you realize just how well the Prep defense played. I loved their energy, their pursuit, and their tackling.
Great to see Waller have another good game--and Simmonds and Greene and ... And what a relief to see Swift look OK (though maybe not 100%) after the leg injury.
I agree next week will be a tough game. Wood will have had lots of time to prepare and tonight's Prep win will make them even more of a target for Wood.
According the Prep's team page on Ted Silary's site (www.tedsilary.com), Waller had 48 years on 10 carries. As I recall, a few of those runs were in situations where it was pretty certain the Prep the Prep was running the ball and were more interested in running out the clock than in gaining yardage. Waller is also a pretty good wrestler.Does anyone know what Waller's stats were from last Saturday? Thanks. His Dad played at Penn and I'm hoping he follows suit.According the Prep's team page on Ted Silary's site (www.tedsilary.com), Waller had 48 years on 10 carries. Hey Roxy, I hope all is well. Interesting comment on DiVito, the Bosco QB. I saw him down here against American Heritage in Broward County and he was off all night on his passing accuracy. Very good mobility though and pretty good speed. Might do well at Syracuse if he can improve his accuracy, and the Heritage thing might have just been a one-game thing.SCS -

NJ - it appeared that he shook the rust ... He was accurate on the run and threw a pass with velocity in tight spaces. It was good to finally get a W against them - first game up there was stolen years ago.Hey Roxy, I hope all is well. Interesting comment on DiVito, the Bosco QB. Yes, Roxy. Remember it well, September 2006 when Whitney stole the show for most of the night until Bosco won on a late field goal, 31-28. Horrible New Jersey refereeing that night. Hard to believe that was 10 years ago.NJ - it appeared that he shook the rust ... He was accurate on the run and threw a pass with velocity in tight spaces. It was interesting to see the Bosco fans complain about what they thought was biased refereeing against American Heritage.
