Panthers move on to the first eastern final in school history. Got another 200 yards rushing from Evan Culver, who is up over 2,800 yards on the year. They were up 14-0 after their first drive and Selinsgrove's first play from scrimmage, a pick 6 by Culver. They ran for 324 yards on the night, including a 90 yard Culver touchdown.

As I've said, they're a year too early, because I think they'd be a real contender in next seasons 4A class. Instead, they're likely Imhotep's cannon fodder next weekend.

You are probably right about next year. It is a shame to see these once in a decade type teams have to play a team like Imhotep in the playoffs.

Timing is just an important thing for anybody though. Coatesville had a great, once in a generation type groups in 2012, but they picked the wrong year to be that good because North Allegheny was one of the best, if not the best, team of the state tournament era.

It's been a great year for Saucon though, whatever ends up happening. I like Matt Evancho, their head coach, a lot (Easton alum, how can anybody not?) and they play what I find to be a fun style of old school football with a few modern wrinkles.

And, Evacho was the defensive coordinator at Wilson when they held Terrelle Pryor to -5 yards in the second half of the 2006 title game, so he's overseen miracles before.

The valley has not been very good lately. Hard to judge teams, especially since they seldom play anyone below route 78 or mid state, but if parkland wins today against LS, SV might be competition for Imhotep next week.

North Allegheny one of the best? C.B.West 3 straight titles (3 D1 players 8 D1AA players) Cathedral Prep 2000 (5D1 players) you have a short memory.

From what i read SV lacks discipline a lot of cheap penalties.

The 2012 North Alegheny team is absolutely one of the best state champs, I didn't think that was a controversial opinion. The point was more about Coatesville and picking the wrong year to have one of your best teams. I could have said the same thing about Gateway hitting PCC in 2004, Altoona and ECP in 2000, Easton and CB West in 1991, or Wilson West Lawn and USC in 1989. There are just seasons where it's the wrong year to be good.

Shoe,
You have a short memory. Easton played Pennsbury for 5 years up to 2013. Beat them all 5 time by an average score of 30 to 7. When was the last time a D1 team beat a D11 team in states? I'll give you a clue, it was 2004.

D1, to be fair, D11 hasn't played D1 since 2008 in states since they keep losing to D12. And we weren't blowing them off of the field, Liberty played some classics with North Penn and Pennsbury in that run.

The D11 rep played the PCL team tougher than the D1 team a few times in those years, but I don't think we'd be on an 11 year winning streak.

One of the many negatives of the LVC-MVC merger is losing those good non-conference games. Easton had that series with Pennsbury, and games with Cardinal O'Hara, CB West, and Altoona, Parkland scheduled Harrisburg, Glen Mills, and SJP, Liberty played State College and North Penn. But pre-merger, the good teams up here definitely scheduled good games.

Rover,
I'm aware of that, and I agree. I was just trying to point to Shoe his statement made no sense.

Plenty of sense. Your talking about Easton & Pennsbury who have made their reputations over the years beating up on bottom feeders. How many Eastern finals have they won? ZERO. The only way they will every see a game in Hershey is from the stands!
