Does Ridley even play football even more? Wow talk bout pride and tradition looks tradition has graduated! Everything comes to a end. They get smoked by haverford and garnet and then get beat by Radnor. Looks like wood really changed the culture!!!!

I watched that Radnor game tonight. That was a tough team Radnor had. Radnor’s RB is first team all delco for sure. Probably could have scored a few more times but those refs were flag happy. Ridley powerhouse is no more. Seems like teams are no longer worried about playing Ridley anymore. I’m sure the Ridley faithful aren’t to happy.

Most of the central league was awful this year. Gv and Haven were the only “good” teams in my opinion. Marple came up small multiple times- including the championship game. They barely beat a weak Springfield team and snuck by a so so radnor team. Haverford- Haven play today. Ridley had their worst team in their illustrious history. UD barely got by Lower Merion and Stoga, and lost to penncrest- a team they hadn’t lost to since 2009 And the 1980s before that. Springfield and radnor were so so teams- they fall in that category of being well coached but not much talent. Haven looked very solid all season except for a quarter vs Marple- interesting to see what graduation does to them. All in all, it was a rough season and a lot of that could be because of the situation 2020 has brought us. However, The league has been trending downward, my question is- will it continue?

This staff has set the program back for years. My fear is that the set back is so deep it’s not fixable. With the changing demographics of the community, it might of happened anyway, but this happened fast.

This regime has 3 of the worst losses in Ridley history. First non winning season since 1956. But for a last second TD against Radnor , ZERO tds in their three losses. 7 games last year giving up 20 + points or more. Just historically bad numbers across the board. When asked about the QB play after the Haverford game , coach said he is still “ evaluating “ that position. Really ? You had since November of last year , plus 2 scrimmages , and 2/3 through this season to evaluate the position. What have you Been doing ? Perhaps the biggest disappointment is , if you looked at the game last night , one team clearly wanted to play and one team did not. Ridley was lifeless , lethargic, disinterested and win or lose, that’s not Ridley.

So I guess the q that comes up is what do you do now ? This administration thought outside the box in organizing this staff , bringing in a head coach with a long college background and hiring a very accomplished “ co head coach “ to be his offensive coordinator and got him a teaching job in the school. But the O coordinator jumped ship last year after many personality clashes with the rest of the staff. They moved the D coordinator to O coordinator to run a spread offense that he never coached before. All this adds up to disaster . I am not one to ever call for someone to be fired. After all , it is just high school football. And I’m not even sure morally you can fire anyone in this Covid world. But they are now the 7 th best team in the league with Conestoga and UD gaining on them. If anyone cares anymore , something needs to be done.

How many more years before Ridley becomes a D1 contender again? It’s a shame how far they’ve fallen. Is it a given that Garnet will be the Alpha in Central for foreseeable years?

The area has changed the years of tradition are lost with people moving out and a influx of new people coming in that have no idea about the history of the program. The only time you will see them be a contender again for a district title is on you tube 2009!

I love Youtube football games. Maybe if the broadcast pans close enough into the stands I'll be able to see Coach Wood. That will be the closest he gets to a semifinal of District 1. Garnet Valley will be a juggernaut for the foreseeable future. Im sure 4itech has his finger on the pulse of Central League football better than me. He probably knows that Haverford High is miles ahead of the Green Raiders as well.

So, Speed: How much are you paying Wood???

Foot:

Not sure I understand your question. Do I know how much he gets paid, or how much he would get paid if he gets fired?

Foot: I do not have exact figures, but I would venture to guess he gets paid around $10k. He was also recently given a para professional job in the school that pays $15 per hour. The wife is the bread winner in the family.

They actually made a bigger financial commitment to Green, paying him as associate head coach and getting him a teaching job in the school.
