Bucksftball, your observation of # 35 Sean Gallagher being injured is correct. His knee is messed up and the Jags #1 receiver will not play the Coatesville game. 40 receptions 900 yd and 11 touchdowns and the #1 receiver for the Jags offense is a big loss. Jags are going to have to be successful running the ball even if Coatesville knows it's coming. Gallagher's one of the 3 players on offense that Garnet valley could not afford to lose to injury. Huge advantage for Coatesville here.Looked like #35 wasn't on the field? Hobbled out for the kneel downs? I think he had gotten banged up at the end of the West game. Need him back on the field for Coatesville. GV has only had to play their starters for a full game three times now. Ridley (scored 65) Qtown (scored 58) and CB West (scored 41).
So here's the problem with beating GV - if you try to pound it at them to limit their possessions (West) but fail to hit open receivers when they pack the box (West) then you might hold them down a bit offensively but you won't put up enough points to win.
If you are balanced and throw the ball to keep them out of the box and move the ball down the field (Qtown) then you give GV too many possessions and GV wins in a track meet that you can't keep up with...
Should be quite a shootout with Coatesville. Doylestown will be rooting for GV.
What defenses were the last two teams in and what would you do differently to defend their option game? This could be a real interesting matchup. GV has a great run game that most don’t understand how to defend, see the last 2 games and you understand the big flaws in the defenses. Coatsville traditionally has lots of speed and maybe that is the Jags weakness. I expect Jags to run that O that’s built to run, if Coates does what everyone else does as far as assignments or I should say lack there of, it will be ugly once Coatesville turns it over a few times. I believe the better coaching on D wins this one.
Stalk, you’re a D guy, what do you think? Me thinks the previous D’s against GV are fundamentally flawed and playing into their O.
