How did the high school football season go overall?
“Overall, last season was a great experience. We had a lot of new guys transfer in, and it was great getting to play and build relationships with them. We finished the season 8-3 and set a school record for most wins in school history. I finished the season with 120 total tackles, 20 tackles for loss, an interception, and two fumble recoveries. On offense, I had 9 receptions for 3 touchdowns and 160 yards.”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I have kept myself very busy so far this off-season. My week consists of four team workouts with my school, one day with my trainer, Johnnie Carlisle, two days with SWAG 7v7 and usually one or two independent lifts at my house. I also keep a lot of time to focus on my academics.”
What are you trying to improve on the most as a player?
“My main goal this off-season is to become a more explosive player. A lot of my training has been geared towards lifts and movements that directly transfer to the football field. I want to be able to run through running backs and make some huge hits. With that being said, I’m also working on many other things. I want to focus on improving my pass coverage. In order to do this, I joined SWAG 7v7 to help me work on my coverage skills. I get to compete against some of the best receivers in the area and even on the east coast through this team. I receive some top-class coaching every week. We compete in tournaments and I am faced with covering some quick slot receivers man to man. As a linebacker, it is a great skill to be able to lock down a slot, and I love the challenge that comes along with it.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I feel that next season will be very special. My teammates and I have been working very hard to make sure next season lives up to our standards. We can’t wait to take the field.”
Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule next season?
“We play Roman Catholic week one and they were a 6A Catholic League team. We are only 3A, but we don’t let that scare us. We are excited for the opportunity.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes, it is a goal of mine to play college football.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“The top schools I am getting recruited by are Villanova and Bucknell. I get a lot of interest from D2 and D3 schools but ultimately. I want to play division one football.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“Earlier this spring, I visited some colleges down south. They included NC State, Richmond and Coastal Carolina. I really enjoyed these visits and it was great to see their football programs. I went to the Villanova Junior Day a few weeks back, and then followed up with a spring practice visit a few weeks later. I also went to Bucknell for a spring practice.”
Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“I plan on visiting Delaware and Lehigh somewhere in the near future. I also received an invitation to the Under Armor All-American Camp in Baltimore, and I can’t wait to compete in that. Another trip I’ll be taking is to the Chicago Land showcase at Northwestern. That will also be a great opportunity to compete. I will be very busy this summer attending camps and showcases.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“My favorite college growing up was always Penn State. Both of my parents went there so I was raised a huge fan. I loved going up to Beaver Stadium to watch the games. Nothing beats that atmosphere.”
