What have you been doing as of late with off-season workouts?
“I have been working with our new Speed and Conditioning Coach, Anthony Fletcher, along with our weight trainer, Bill Marnich, to prepare for the upcoming season.”
What do you feel you have improved on most since last football season?
“I’d say my arm strength and footwork has improved from last season. I feel I can make any throw on the field.”
What are you trying to improve on before the football season begins?
“I am working to improve my speed and strength, so I’ll have the ability to turn broken plays into impact plays.”
How do you feel your team will do this football season?
“We have a ton of younger, up and coming players who need to gain experience. Our coaches are great with developing a game-like atmosphere in practices to prepare all of our players. Each Friday night will be a dog fight. That being said, I believe my team has the ability to compete and our goal is to make the playoffs again this season.”
Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Every game in our conference is going to be tough, no matter the opponent. You really can’t single out one team because of how talented the entire 6A conference is. We need to prepare each week for each opponent and their skill set.”
Who is your opponent in the season opener and how do you feel about them overall?
“We play Mt. Lebanon in our first conference game. Mt. Lebanon has always been a very disciplined team. Since Coach Evans has been here, we have been playing tight games against them. I expect the same this season. They have several impact players like Mason Ventrone and J. B. Nelson that have played significant roles since their sophomore years. We expect another competitive game this season.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I definitely want to play football in college. I also play baseball and love that sport too, but in my opinion, there’s no better feeling than having the ball in your hands in the fourth quarter in pressure situations.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I’ve had interest shown from Howard University, Saint Vincent College, Notre Dame College, W and J, Ithaca, Allegheny College, West Virginia Wesleyan and other D2 and D3 schools.”
What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“I would say Saint Vincent College, W and J, and West Virginia Wesleyan are the schools that have shown the most interest at this point.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I visited Saint Vincent College when invited to attend their Junior Day and have plans to visit others in the near future.”
Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“I’m planning on attending the W and J camp and the Robert Morris camp at this point.”
What camps did you do this summer and how did they go?
“I attended the Notre Dame College Camp and the Pitt Senior Elite Camp. Both went great. I threw the ball really well and spoke with multiple coaches to build some relationships.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“My favorite colleges have always been Clemson and Duquesne as I have family connections to both. My grandfather, Gary Rankin played Quarterback at Avella High School before receiving a football scholarship to attend Clemson University. The recent success of this program is phenomenal. I made an Alumni trip to attend a game with him and my family during a homecoming weekend. It was an awesome experience! Duquesne University has also been a favorite of mine due to my mother attending college there and my sister who is a Junior this year.”
