Brief overviews…out of time! I hurried this up and apologize for any typos

District-1 Semifinal
#1 Penn Wood 11-1 vs #5 Rustin 9-2….4.59 Penn Wood

This is a rematch against the only team to beat Penn Wood back on Sept 21st when Rustin handled the Patriots 43-28 in West Chester. Excluding the CR North game that was called because of weather with PW ahead 8-0, they’re averaging 45ppg, allowing 16. Nice job too scheduling out of area teams to play 3 SOL teams, Souderton, Pennsbury and CR North. Their notable wins came against Pennsbury 32-27 and Academy Park 40-20. They won Del-Val league a game ahead of Academy Park and have won their last 7. Rustin was upset by West Chester East 31-21 and routed by Coatesville 52-21, but still managed to win the Ches Mont-American Division. They score 33 a game and allow 15, winning their last 6 games including Academy Park last week 42-6. Their 9-2 record is a upgrade from last year’s 7-5 campaign and 2016’s 5-6 outing, their first losing season since the school was established in 2006 when they went 3-8.
#2 Upper Dublin 10-1 vs #11 Unionville 6-6….7.11 Upper Dublin
The Cards didn’t stretch their legs to much in non-conference games playing and losing to Penn Charter 42-17 and defeating Philly Central 32-12. All others were SOL teams. The best being Cheltenham twice and Quakertown. They are on a 7 game win streak with playoff wins against Phoenixville 42-17 and Cheltenham 27-0. Qb Mike Slivka is under center, passing for 1264 yards and rushing for 244 yards. But Lucas Roselli is their main threat, rushing for 502 yards while catching 22 passes for 362 yards. Mason Novak does the pounding at 5-10 205 pounds, rushing for 430 yards. At 12ppg yield, they are one of the top defenses in the East. Unionville’ recent road wins at Springfield 9-0 and Radnor 28-7 says they’ve morphed into something other than the team that opened the year with 3 consecutive losses. That’s quite a change from the team that lost to Garnet Valley, Rustin and Downingtown East by a combined score of 103 to 19.
District-3 Semifinal
#1 Manheim Central 11-0 vs #4 Cedar Cliff 10-2….10.74 Manheim Central

Manheim Central (LL-2) is playing at a level that wins state titles, scoring 43ppg, allowing 9 with a balanced attack that can defeat you through the air or pound you on the ground. Qb Evan Simon throws at 56% for 1707 at an 18/2 ratio with 4 receivers at at least 300 yards. Rb Tyler Flick has 1507 rushing. They’ve only allowed 1252 yards rushing with wins against LL-1 powers Warwick 27-20, Wilson 20-10, and Cocalico 41-23 then Governor Mifflin last week 51-14. Their opponent Cedar Cliff from the Mid Penn Keystone is flying high at 39ppg with a D more porous at 21ppg. They’ve also played Warwick and Cocalico and Governor Mifflin plus Mid Penn power Bishop McDevitt and Harrisburg, beating McDevitt. Qb Chris Dare is at 64%, 2270 with a 31-4 ratio, throwing to Bobby Whalen for 1036 yards. Jaheim Morris has 1946 rushing. The Colts are formidable (!..seen them) making this one of the top games in the state.
#2 Cocalico 9-2 vs #6 York (William Penn) 11-1….4.30 Cocalico
Cocalico’s only losses came against Manheim Township 36-24 and Manheim Central 41-23, with wins verses Cedar Cliff, Governor Mifflin and Conrad Weiser. They came in 2nd to Manheim Central in the LL-2. They’re big stuff at 38ppg allowing 19, running the ball 82% of the time (3203-722 run/pass) with Qb Noah Palm leading the way at 1109 yards followed by Garrett Longenecker at 952. York has one of the highest scoring offenses in the state at 48ppg with a defense allowing 16. Dayjure Stewart has 2902 yards rushing after getting 224 at Shippensburg last week and 463 the week before against Northern. No typo….463 yards. The Bearcats are an exciting team that play in a conference considered inferior to the Lancaster-Lebanon and Mid Penn conferences and Cocalico’s grinding power football is something rarely seen in the York-Adams. Cocalico is going to punch them in the nose while York will go for the jugular, getting a lead with some fast break football.
District-6/8/10 champ vs District-2/11 champ
#1 Hollidaysburg 8-4 vs #2 Wallenpaupack 9-3….1.35 Hollidaysburg

Hollidaysburg had a strong and diverse schedule, playing State College, Cedar Cliff, Fort Hill-MD and McDowell. Qb Brady Walters is their key, passing for 1588 yards, rushing for 885 with 2 other backs at over 700 yards each. Their most impressive win is Oil City last week 33-22, although they were competitive in losses to 3 of the 4 teams shown above, giving them a far more difficult schedule. Wallenpaupack is having a solid year after last year’s 5-6 campaign. They are veteran, returning most of that team but stumbled out the gate losing to undefeated Valley View and 3-8 Honesdale. No one’s beating Valley unless it’s Imhotep but Honesdale? Their impressive wins are Delaware Valley (9-3) 24-13 and East Stroudsburg South (8-4) 29-7. But they’re rolling now, winning 7 straight by a total score of 234-88.
District-12 Final; PCL vs PPL
#1 Archbishop Wood 7-3 vs #1 Simon Gratz 5-6….20.47 Archbishop Wood

Wood now appears healthy (game shape?) with the return of QB Jack Colyar who played vs Archbishop Ryan in last week’s 24-17 win. I believe a few others including Rb Leroy Pendleton who had missed a few games are back. Lead back Tony Santiago is their principle weapon at 1489 yards running behind a typical (almost typical) O-Line headed by LT Connor Bishop (6-3, 260), C Luke Stengel (6-4, 250) G Brett Gross (6-0, 220). The loss of Colyar meant they survived with Jake Ross, a converted wide receiver against a tough slate including McDonogh, Bergen Catholic, Pope John-MD, Archbishop Spalding (beat McDonogh in MIAA) and St. Joseph’s. He did well, completing 61% for 709 yards and 9 touchdown passes. The loss of Colyar and the graduation of numerous D1 players, at least 10, reduced the Vikings to a shadow of their historic self, scoring 23ppg after averaging 35 and up the last 8 years. The D allows 16ppg. About Gratz, credit them for surviving their own trials going 0-6 before winning the last 5. Decent scheduling saw them play Inter-Ac teams Haverford School and Germantown Academy as well as Academy Park, Imhotep and Northeast. The opening slate skewed their stats but they have come on of late, losing narrowly to Northeast 25-20 and beating ML King last week 14-6. Thanks to the Ted Silary site where I got some information on AB Wood. Thank you Ted.
District-7 Semifinal
#1 Gateway 12-0 vs #5 West Allegheny 9-2….16.80 Gateway

Just how good is Gateway? They score 50ppg, allow only 4 against a less than overwhelming schedule. They have 6 shutouts! But they are loaded with D1 talent throughout the roster. Despite losing record setting Qb Brady Walker (4657, 45 Tds), they are rolling behind a team that is veteran almost across the board with 8 back on offense and 10 on defense. Last year’s record setting team (14-2) got to the state final where they were bombed by Archbishop Wood 49-14. If they get through the 5A wars, the question everyone will be asking will be….are they as good as the 6A champ?
West Allegheny edged Woodland Hills last week, scoring with under a minute to pull it out 14-13. That was the second time West A defeated Woody by 1 point, and by the exact score of 14-13. That’s their history this year with a 1 point overtime win against Bethel, 3 over Baldwin (improved!) and 7 over Moon. But they are mortal, losing to North Allegheny 26-20 and Peters Township 42-28. They’re a smaller attack at 25ppg but allow only 17. And like North Penn, they’ve demonstrated the ability to win the close ones. Qb Kam Kruze gets it done throwing for 1067 yards and 11 Tds, spreading it out to 4 receivers at over 200 yards each. Dante Flati gets the carries, rushing for 848 yards. DE Mateo Vandamia (6-2, 225) and Shea Downing (6-0, 210) are a pair with DL Logan Rossi(6-3, 280), LB Ian McBain and S Dre-Von Baldwin also prominent on the defense.
#2 Penn Hills 12-0 vs #3 Peters Township 10-2….2.26 Peters Township
Penn Hills is like Gateway, scoring a pile of points at 41ppg and fielding a quick and aggressive defense allowing 10ppg. They have one of the top quarterbacks in the state in Hollis Mathis (2268 pass, 652 rush) with D1 receivers in Daequan Hardy (+600), Anthony Grimes and Dante Cephas (+600). Terry “Tank” Smith (5-9, 210, 1577yds) is their bruiser on the ground. He had 220 last week in their 34-7 win against a 9-3 McKeesport team. Their offense is diverse, running a variety of plays including jet sweeps, keepers and between the tackles. Then there’s those receivers. The O-Line is special, headed by C George Freeman (6-0, 280) and G Roland Phillips (5-11, 250). The defense is like the offense, stocked with talent, yielding 24 points the last 6 games. Wins of note are against Steubenville-OH (10-2, Div 4), Mars (9-2) and McKeesport (9-3).
How about Peters Township, getting only their second winning season in 16 years with two of them coming under Coach TJ Plack, hired to turn things around in 2016. Formerly he was an assistant at Peters after serving as head coach at South Fayette for 5 years. He’s gone 4-7, 7-4 and 10-2 this year. That’s quite a turnaround for a team with no tradition. But here they are in the Wpial semifinal with a young team and a sophomore under center. Logan Pfeuffer (6-0,170, 62%, 1879, 22 Tds) is playing like a senior, as are his receivers with Josh Casilli ( 6-0, 877jr) leading the pack. Jackson McCloskey-Sr, Aiden McCall-Jr, Gabe Maloni-Sr and sophomore TE Corban Hondry (6-2, 220, 212) make for a deep receiver corps. Running back Ryan Magiske (5-10, 180, 998, jr) and Adrian Williams (5-9, 160, 372, jr) are their leading rushers. At 16ppg, the defense is getting it done starting 8 underclassman. So is the offense at 34ppg with all their primary skill people being juniors and sophomores. But they’ve hung tough so far, stringing together 7 straight against the likes of schizophrenic Bethel Park and Penn Trafford, the latter last week on a 26-yard field goal by Brian Bruzdewicz with 3 seconds left to play.

Nice write up Stalker. Not sure if Rustin will control
Pennwood again but they sure up the stakes in the Golden Knights locker room w this quote:
“That team (Rustin) shouldn’t have even been able to compete with us,” Dennis said. “We hurt ourselves in that game. We were doing the little things wrong, like lining up wrong and stuff like that. We were doing that the whole game and that’s our fault. We didn’t adjust to that. We know if we played them today, we’d blow them out.
Thanks Matt Smith! Between him DeGeorge w that Delco attitude.. gotta laugh
