Well deserved!

I have issues with these regional rankings. First off, if Bergen Catholic is ranked 7th, then Wood has to be in there. They beat Bergen on their home field. Second, they completely dropped SJP out the top 10 in the east when they were top 10 in the country all year. They do have Cathedral Prep ranked 8th, but I don't think ECP is better than Wood or SJP.

Did they really finish 16-0? I thought the PIAA capped the season for teams at 15 games

I think regional and national rankings are ridiculous. Even state rankings are very difficult to do with any credibility. Ranking some small school with a perfect records ahead of a larger school with one or two losses makes no sense in cases where everyone agrees that if the two teams met the larger school would win 19 times out of 20.

The PIAA gave the option to move up the regular season one week and cut out one of the two scrimmages in August. Somehow District 3 was allowed to finish their regular season the week other districts started playoffs. Manheim Central or Manheim Township would have played a max of 15 games if they got to Hershey.

Not sure why D3 was only required to play 5 playoff games when most all other districts payed 6. It's still somewhat confusing IMO.

Congrats to Pine-Richland...very well deserved. Also, kudos to Jurkovec for being named PA Gatorade Player of the Year.

Ratings can be fickle. Pine-Richland is a top 10 team. Wood should be ranked higher and so should SJP regionally.

To Tulla, agree. Same logic is applied in NCAA. If you look at college football we often see 1 and 2 loss teams ranked ahead undefeated teams. Think Power 5 vs an undefeated Boise State. Bigger schools play harder schedules.

Can't argue that ECP is a very very good football team. Certainly would put them with PR and Wood as best teams in state in all classes.

I think it is entirely plausible that ECP is better than Wood.
Agreed. I was referring to USA-Today doing a regional/state ranking as nonsensical. Wood, ECP, Hburg, etc....who knows. Homer-Center topping Bishop Guilfoyle and Governor Mifflin beating The Burg reminds us all of the tried and try adage that on any given day!

I erroneously had Gov Mifflin at 5 or 6 in the West ranking before remembering they were a 5A. That's how much I and others thought of them but yip, that was a biggie!
I 'll put Dtown West up there too beating Neshaminy 35-31 at Neshaminy.
