Parkland just approved Tim Moncman as their head coach at tonight's school board meeting. Moncman has been Parkland's defensive coordinator since 2012.

Prior to his time at Parkland, Moncman was the head coach at Liberty from 2000-2009, guiding the Hurricanes to an 88-36 record, three trips to the state final, and the 2008 PIAA 4A state championship. Liberty only made one D11 playoff appearance from 1988-1999 and has only been back to the playoffs once since Moncman resigned. From 2004-08, Liberty went 62-9 with 4 D11 finals appearances, 3 titles, and the aforementioned trips to Hershey.

Parkland is getting the best available coach in the Lehigh Valley and the program should expect to roll along.

Rover,

Wasn't it kind of expected that Moncman would get that job? A very good hire and sound defensive mind.

I think it was expected that they'd hire either Moncman or Comp and that the other would stay on at the OC/DC. But he's a good enough coach that I thought it was newsworthy. Probably the best defensive guy in the Valley, and I also think he gets a lot of credit for being such an early adopter of the spread. He was running shotgun read option, screen and short throw heavy spread offenses as far back as 2004, well before they took over the high school game. He's not the offensive mind behind it, but he had enough vision to entrust his coordinators to do it.

I thought his quotes after being hired were interesting about adjusting back to more of a power-run game at Parkland based on the personnel they have in the program. With Comp, there are obviously going to be Air Raid concepts, but how they adjust after losing such a huge and talented senior class will be interesting.
