Not a surprise. The Trojans dominated their way to their 6th straight D11 title. Jahan Worth ran for 150 yards, Ruisch threw for 180 and a score, and the defense suffocated Freedom and forced 4 turnovers.

Parkland will be competitive with SJP. The difference from this team and the one that went to state finals in 2015 is this years bunch doesn't have an FBS talent like Devante Cross, Kenny Yeboah, or Noel Brouse. They have a lot of really good players and a handful of FCS caliber kids, but i think the only way our schools are going to have a shot against the catholic league champ is when the roster has that plus one or two kids at a totally different talent level.

With Simmons out all year, I can't think of anyone one the Prep team who would clearly be "at a totally different talent level"--nobody like Swift, Reid, Zaccheus, or Runyon. They do have a bunch of very good players.

No, but they have a different depth level than the teams we're sending year in and year out. The way D11 teams have a shot are years when they have a really good team plus Devante Cross, Dan Persa, Brendan Nosovitch, Saquon Barkley, Austin Scott, etc.

You've switched the criteria entirely: from "one or two kids at a totally different talent level" to a "different depth level." Parkland had a great shot at the Prep in '13 or '14. In fact, in '14 we heard a lot about how Parkland would/should have won but didn't because of a non-call. And of course the next year they beat LaSalle in Philly.

Has Parkland won their District five years in a row because they have a few players who play on a different level or because they have so much more depth?

Parkland had a shot at Prep in 2014 because they had a quarterback who is currently getting snaps as a redshirt freshman going both ways in the ACC. Parkland beat LaSalle in 2015 when that kid was a senior. I don't think this Parkland team has a shot at Prep because they don't have a kid like that.

What I'm inarticulately trying to say is SJP or LaSalle is really good, 1-22 in the lineup. What it takes to beat them is a very good football team with a kid who is a big time, FBS kid who can make an individual difference to push you over the top.

I don't think it would be a big upset if Parkland wins next week--really.

Parkland is very well coached! Tough hard nosed runner who the two times I saw play in person does not get tackled very easily. QB does not make many mistakes, very smart with football. What I saw last night was Freedom is a poor tackling team, same a few weeks ago with Emmaus. SJP is a very good tackling team. Parkland can definitely beat SJP. Game will be close.

Parkland is absolutely well coached. Tim Moncman is as good of a head coach as there is in Pennsylvania and Bret Comp is a great offensive coordinator. Both have won state titles as head coaches and I won't be surprised if they win one together eventually.

Running back is going to Duquesne, was first team all state last year as a linebacker. Big, tough dude. The QB's dad is a coach in the system, he definitely plays like a coach's son, high IQ, good decision maker, runs the offense well.
