For those recruiting fans out there, Noel Brouse decommited from Syracuse last week, and this afternoon Devante Cross decommited from Boston College.

Both programs have coaching upheaval, Brouse backed off when the new staff was hired. BC just lost their defensive coordinator on Sunday (Cross was going to play corner).

It also looks like Cross was just offered by the new staff at UVA, and that's an offer to play quarterback, not defense.

He should hope a defensive offer comes up. He is not a D1 QB.

You do realize he played the state title game with a tear in his left knee MCL? He was not close to 100%, but tried like hell. He couldn't plant and throw and his running was almost out of the question. This kid can play in the right offense. Healthy, he is lightning quick. His completion percentage was almost 70%.

By the way, I am as far from a Parkland fan as you can get. Rover Nation will attest to that. I'm just trying to be honest about the kid.

I'm not a Parkland fan either, and in the past have found their teams and former coaches quite easy to root against, but Cross can play for my team any day of the week. EPC is right, he's a fox hole guy and I think has the intelligence (very underrated), football IQ, and physical skills to play at the next level. He was absolutely limited by the knee injury (I think not wearing the brace was a mistake, he was less mobile without it, but had a better base throwing the ball with it) and when healthy, can physically do all the things asked of college QBs in a spread offense. And based on what I know and have been told about the kid, has the aptitude to learn and improve with the incredible increase in position coach and film study time you get in college.

I also get a kick out of "he's not good enough to play there." It's one thing if a kid is telling people he wants to play somewhere or thinks he can and it's unrealistic. It's another thing when the coaching staff, who get paid millions of dollars to evaluate talent and have inordinate pressure to win offer the kid one of the 25 spots in their class. They're not doing that as a charity. That doesn't mean they don't miss on kids, but I generally defer to their talent evaluation.

I have linked Noel Brouse's offer sheet. Kid must be a hell of a student. Those schools don't offer dolts. FCS would be just fine for him.

From Syracuse's perspective (or what I think their perspective might be) I wonder if they see Brouse as another Justin Pugh, a 2 star out of Council Rock South who blossomed into a 1st round pick for the Orangemen? As smart as Brouse is, if they can build him like they built Pugh they'll have something.

Cross in my mind has the ability to be a very good dual threat QB in the right D1 system. He made some big time plays just as a soph when he lost that first game to SJP. He looked like a complete quarterback both running and throwing the football in their win over Wyoming Valley. His 46 yard throw in the first half of that game was a thing of beauty. He just wasn't throwing the same way after his injury in the LaSalle game. It showed in their win against UD. Hopefully he'll get to play QB in college.

I saw Parkland play three times at the end of the season and Brouse looked better with every game. I also see him as a viable D1 lineman.
