Q&A with Franklin Regional linebacker Austin Kerns
How did the high school football season go overall?
“I think it went very well. I had an outstanding season and feel I proved my abilities. Team wise the season didn't end like we wanted, but we are getting ready for a big season ahead.”

What are your plans now with sports and workout?
“I am working to get bigger, Faster, and Stronger. Right now I am lifting 5 times a week, as well as speed training with Justin King 2 times a week at 210ths. I am also playing 7v7 with AIT.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I feel that we have a strong and talented group with lots of experience. I expect big things this upcoming season.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“With new conference additions I feel Woodland Hills, Latrobe, and Penn Trafford will all be challenging games, but I'm looking forward to it.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“I'm going to go with Scoop Smith from Woodland Hills. He's a gifted player with blazing speed and athleticism.”

How did the high school football season go overall?
“I think the season wasn’t that good last season, we went 3-7 overall but a lot of us underclassmen got some good experience in games and practices so it was a good experience for us underclassmen.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Right now our team does lifts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and we go to the north park bubble on Sundays for an hour to get field work in.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I think our team will be good next year.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I think Central Catholic will be the toughest competition, they are always a good team so it will be a good test for us and a great opportunity.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“I am not sure who will be the best player we go against, there are a lot of great players in the WPIAL so I couldn’t name the best player we will go against.”

How did the high school football season go overall?
“This past football season was the best Deer Lakes has ever done. I think we could have done better, but BellVeron is a tough team to beat.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Right now I am doing track and playing volleyball. I also go to our offseason football workouts.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“We have a very strong chance to win sections and make a run in the playoffs. We have many weapons coming back.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I think our toughest game this upcoming season is going to Beaver.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“I think the toughest individual we will face off against this year will be Dayshaun Burnett.”

How did the high school football season go overall?
“Our season went well but we are working towards a way better year this year.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I’m currently playing baseball and doing track but still manage to get lifts every day.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“We were an inexperienced team this year and I feel we are going to excel this year.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I would say Northwestern Lehigh is the toughest team on our schedule this year.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“I’m not sure we aren’t worried about an individual, we just want to get the job done.”

Q&A with Seneca Valley linebacker/athlete Jackson Matthews
How did the high school football season go overall?
“It didn’t go the way we wanted because we had lots of errors early on that we fixed up in the end, but it was too late.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I have a training schedule that I’ve been sticking to this whole time. It’s a six-day train split with fieldwork and weightlifting. All included positional work, plyometrics to become the best athlete and football player that I can. Having elite maneuverability is something that I’ve been training on so that it can translate to the next level. I train at the lab sports performance, and of course my school lifting.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I feel it will be a major turnaround from last year, considering the playmakers, coaching, and chemistry that we have. We will be a way better team.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“North Allegheny will be the toughest team we play after winning the Wpial last year.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“This is a tough question, but one of the ones that came to mind was Elijah Faulkner.”
