NPs Kicker

and she is also a very consistent and good kicker. had a FG yesterday.

This is probably not going to be popular. I feel bad for CB East's #4 who has to deal with being the hittee. I hope the CBE coaches got out in front of this and said in front of the team, that number 4 is a real man for not blasting this obviously skilled young lady. I hope they told the team that he pulled up (truthfully or not) rather than smashed his 6'3, 185lb plus frame into her at full speed. Without that, boys being boys, the poor kid would catch it unmercifully. As it is, he probably needs his team to back him in school, and against his future opponents. In fact he may want to consider a number change. I hope this kid is mentally strong.

I am sure the opposing coaches are aware of the situation, and pretty much leave NP's kicker alone, and nobody wants to see people running at her like they do at Joey Julius because of his big hits and you tube notoriety.

I am not saying that she is not good enough to kick for North Penn, she obviously is, and just as obviously, her team needs her (I guess the NP boys soccer team does not want to put players on the football team, and sometimes the football coaches have trouble with soccer players whose true love and future is in soccer, missing a football practice for soccer).

But this is the problem I see with girls playing on the boys teams. If a boy runs her over, he ran over a mostly defenseless female and is considered a bully and a villain. If he doesn't she makes a tackle and he is splashed all over the internet getting run over by a girl who is much smaller than him (and I know she is a good sized girl at 5'9). It just isn't fair.

It is the same in wrestling, if the boy wins he gets grief, if the girl wins he gets grief. It is a shame, the girls don't have these teams and want to compete, but the only way is to compete with the boys, and I don't think it is fair to the boys. But I am an old guy, so what do I know?

I think you're overreacting Iron. She's not running up the field trying to break the wedge, just a safety valve hanging back as a last resort. I thought it was great. The East kid had a hell of a return, what's the big deal? She kicked FG's of 33 and 42 yards in the game. She's more than qualified. Why would a coach tell his players to take it easy on her? She knows the risks, her parents do and so does Beck.

I am glad it worked out for the young man in question. I am glad that he has the fortitude and sense of humor for this.

I really don't think it was an over reaction, I mean if what I feared came to pass it certainly wouldn't be. Thankfully it worked out.

I still wonder if she will be blocked in the future, should a block be necessary. Frankly, if I am her dad, I tell her and Beck, if she kicks off, that is all she does. She heads to the sideline right away. I don't mean to sound like a dinosaur, but I probably do.

Note I never questioned her kicking ability. She is obviously a good kicker and probably better than a lot of teams have.

I am glad it ended well for her and the CBE player.
