Sorry.. this is my second soap box this week... Maybe it's just me.. I admit I'm an old fart who like to reference the old days in the Buxmont and Surb 1.. But there was more to this game then struggling to hold on. When you have a team down 21-0 in the first 8 minutes your not supposed to hold on to win.. it should be in MR in the 2ndQ...
In the Intel today... beck took the blame for the playing calling in the 2nd Q..(I'm not sure that has ever happened before and I'm guessing it has something to do with the extra large full moon on monday).. Once NP received the personal foul for celebrating a sack the game changed...
Not to take anything away from SF they have a great squad.. What bothers me the most was towards the end of the 1st Q..watching skill position players walk slowly back to the huddle after every play...they just took their good old time., yes in the 70's if you did that you were lucky if you only saw the bench for the rest of the game..(not sure how that will go over at when playing at the next level).. if I was a lineman I would be pissed..
Winning, losing, holding on to win or making a comeback is all part of the game. But how players act on the field is a character thing that I blame on coaching for letting them get away with it.. These are kids playing a game at a very high level ..sitting in the cheap seats it looked they were not sure what to do as they when no longer the fastest team on the field or the most talented or have the deepest roster...
I don't blame the kids for keeping the game close.. but the coaches better take a look at themselves
And lest face it...14 penalties at this point in the season is not going to win championships..
