Hensel, former CB West HC. O'Connor and Banzac will not be back as stipulated by ADMIN. Tough job for any coach to clean up the lack of discipline that was very evident the last few years. Good luck to a class guy Brian Hensel.

Surprised Hensel is the guy to get the job given the circumstances, fair or not, in which he left CB West. Will he teach at Pennridge? No offense but I don't see him taking the program to the next level, his most successful years were when he had running backs, one of which he had live with him from the youth detention center. If Hensel is the guy curious who his staff is. I believe a few of his former assistants actually left him and went to Pennridge including O'Connor and Barainyak as well as Romeo. If he has Winters calling plays for him the fans up at the Ridge won't be happy for long.

Having spoken to some alumni from Pennridge they were actually were hoping for former DCs Rosenberger or Heying to get the job. Don't believe either applied or were considered. But as I was told there is one administrator who calls the shots and it definitely isn't the AD. I was actually curious about a Lehigh Valley guy coming down to coach in Upper Bucks. Oh well. When is it official?

Bucks, I think it will depend on the staff he is able to put together. It's difficult for just a head coach to take a program to the next level. You need great assistants, support staff, admin support, etc. So, I'm very interested to see who is on his staff as I believe it will have a huge impact on his tenure there.

I'm not convinced he will take the program to the next level; however, he has a better chance for success at Ridge than he did at CBW. Granted, I believe success is relative (i.e. going 5-5 at Tennent is a better accomplishment than going 7-3 at NP). Regardless, I wish Coach Hensel good luck; I want to see him succeed. You have to think he'll love to stick it to West this year!

When has Pennridge ever been at the next level? Is it realistic to believe any coaCH can come in there and take them to the next level? They are a solid program but who thinks they will ever compete consistently at the next level

Speed, I think that's the whole point. They've had some measure of success over the years with average to above-average coaches. If they took this opportunity to invest more into the program and hired a Beck or Devlin, or found an Infante-type from out of state, they could possibly make some noise state wide. I remember thinking Cuthbert was going to be that guy. No further comment on that. This hire appears, on the surface anyway, to be more of the same. They will win 7 or 8 games, beating the CB schools, Souderton, etc., but continue to play second fiddle to North Penn in the division and Neshaminy and Pennsbury in the conference.

I totally agree with Newman. I thought Cuthbert saw the creation of CB South as him going to Pennridge and make them the new dominant force in the SOL. Never really happened, he did take them to the school's best ever season and first district semifinals. But he lost to Bensalem how many times at Pennridge? That shouldn't happen, happened with his best team even.

Two District 1 semifinals (2012 and 2017) and the program had been solid since 2000. Many Pennridge people feel with Tarburton playing in the Garnet Valley game they would have won, who knows? The district is growing, the facilities they have, and community support, Pennridge could be a real player and win a District 1 title.

I do know they had out of state coaches apply. Hensel seems to be Cuthbert version 2.

I'm surprised there weren't more local candidates interested. It seems like CBW has generated more interest in the coaching community than Pennridge, even though Ridge is unanimously viewed as the better job.

Speed, in Hollenbach's first run at Pennridge they were a top 5 program in District 1. Between '98 and '04 they made the district semis 5 times. Back then only 4 qualified until 2000 when the number increased to 8. His teams went 72-25 during that stretch. If it wasn't for CBW in 2000 or NP in '03, the Rams could have been in Hershey both those years. I saw all those games and no one played CBW or NP tougher in the playoffs than Pridge.

Here is the list of people who wanted Rosenberger or Heying :

1. Rosenberger
2. Heying

Hollenbach was an excellent coach and got the most out of what he had. They were mediocre once Helman left till ( 7 losing season in a row in the 80's) Hollenbach took over. They are not a growing district but are not losing enrollment while others are. Hensel is not Hollenbach, Pennridge will now be a .500 program. Yes Hensel a nice guy but he is not Hollenbach.

Shoe, that's probably a fair assessment. That's why I think it's of utmost importance who is on his staff. If he gets two great coordinators, that be the difference. I like Hensel, which is why I'll root for them.

Rosenberger did a excellent job as Tennent HC, considering the direction and state of Tennent Football was in. He had the program going in right direction. Then Plenski put us back into a even worse spot before Rosenberger's hiring. Many Ridge parents and alumni liked the work Rosenberger did when he was D Coordinator under Cuthbert. Would have made a great choice, despite what Hollenbach's Minister of Propaganda jswigand says. But you're right about Heying. 50% not bad.
The hiring of a D Coordinator and O Coordinator will be key for Hensel, since Hollenbach was the OC, and the former DC was told he will not be a part of the future.

Welcome to the board, Bob. Always nice to have a former coach's perspective.

SOL#1, totally agree with your statement regarding the importance of Hensels staff. Any word on who his coordinators will be?

Why does everyone assume they will go out of district to fill the spot or do they open a spot in the district for Hensel? Which without school board approval I don't see that happening.
Doesn't Ridge have a young coach that teaches in the school who is in the running too?
