Best two games are Nazareth-Bethlehem Catholic and Easton-Emmaus.

In Nazareth-Becahi, obviously the thing to watch is how for real are the Blue Eagles. Nazareth pulled the upset of Freedom last week, getting four TDs from senior quarterback Anthony Harris. Harris is a three years starter who will graduate with every Nazareth passing record, but it’s the improvement of the defense that has Nazareth a contender. Becahi has one of the biggest offensive lines in the state, with three 300 pound FBS prospects up front (6’3 300 Jerry Lyons, 6’8 315 George French, who was offered by Penn State two weeks ago, and budding superstar sophomore 6’6 305 Jake Kanyuk) and that is the type of offense that has given Nazareth trouble in the Falzone era. Nazareth has beef of their own up front in FCS prospect Jake Wilson and 295 pound Cody Breidenbach, but the game will be if they can stop the Becahi running game.

At Cottingham, it’s a battle of the two leading rushers in 6A across the state, with Easton’s Nahjee Adams just 82 yards from 1,000 for the season and Emmaus scatback Brandon Camire with 756 yards on the year. My big question is, Easton hasn’t really been tested, snd Emmaus will be the best team they’ve seen. Can the Nahjee Adams show continue another week?

Parkland travels to Liberty. Both teams are 2-2, coming off of deflating blowouts last week. Parklands struggle has been with a lack of explosiveness on offense, while Liberty looked like a million bucks against Becahi two weeks ago in a losing effort before everything going wrong against Easton. The winner here still is in position to host a playoff game, while the loser will really need to dig out.

Sophomore Easton quarterback Cole Transue continues an excellent start to his year. Hits Nahjee Adams for 25 to get into scoring territory, then rips of a 22 yard touchdown run on a 3rd and 11 QB draw. Red Rovers up 7-0 near the end of the first quarter.

Bethlehem Catholic marches right down the field and scores a touchdown on their opening drive. Malik Thomas with a 6 yard TD run.

Brandon Camire doesn’t have much going on offense, but returns a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown to tie Easton-Emmaus at 7.

Easton has a 79 yard TD pass called back, then has to punt. Emmaus throws a 19 yard TD to take a 17-7 lead.

Easton answers with an 80 yard TD drive, capped by a 10 yard Transue to A’sad Brown TD pass. 17-14.

Nazareth leads Bethlehem Catholic 14-6, Nate Stefanik with a TD catch and a state leading 8th interception in the first half.

In a stunning turn of events, Harold Fairclough is coaching circles around Jeff Braido. Emmaus stops Easton on 4th down and is holding a 26-21 lead in the last 8 minutes.

Easton gets the first down but throws an interception

Easton gets a quick stop and forces a punt.

Drive starts at their own 30. Big pass to Chase Holmes has Easton at the Emmaus 21 with 53 seconds left.

Jackson pushes out at the 1. 3rd and 1, jumbo package in for Easton

Nahjee Adams scores on a pitch with 17 seconds left. Easton goes up 27-25. Going for two.

So Easton’s sophomore quarterback drives the ball 70 yards in 2 minutes after throwing what looked like a back breaking pick? Might have a future here.

Transue threw for 231, ran for 43 and had two TD passes and a TD run. Adams ran 25 times for 104 and scored. Ups his season total to 1,033 yards through 5 games.

Final scores coming in:

Easton pulls a 27-26 victory out of their behind, erased a 26-14 lead and scores with 17 seconds left to win. First nonmercy rule win for Easton, showed some character in a tough game.

Nazareth beats Bethlehem Catholic 27-13. Blue Eagles remain undefeated.

Parkland up 35-7 on Liberty, had blocked two punts and had overwhelmed the Hurricanes physically.

Stats on Nazareth-Becahi. Blue Eagles defense passed their test with flying colors and held Becahi to 77 rushing yards on 36 carries. Anthony Harris threw fur 188 and ran for 99 in the win. Nate Stefanik caught 9 passes for 103 yards and a TD and had two more interceptions from his safety spot, giving him 9 on the year.
